After so much speculation, the first preview is finally here!
When we got word of a “Lekki Wives” TV series, many assumed that it would be a reality TV show similar to the “Real Housewives” and “Basketball Wives” franchises in the United States of America. Well, we can tell you that it is actually a scripted series but based on the preview, this has all the “guilty pleasure juiciness” of your favorite reality TV shows.

“Lekki Wives” – The Synopsis
They move up the ladder in leaps and put the meal on the table…
They hop on and off countless beds and enjoy the upside of being trophy wives…
Now, they must together experience the price of change while finding ways to hold their own…
Here is how ThisDay’s pop culture columnist describes the lead charcters of “Lekki Wives” – The rich and domineering Miranda played by Adaora Ukoh, Lovette (Kiki Omeili) the carefree housewife who flees her poor home for greener pastures; the wannabe Uju (Catherine Obiang); Peace (Keira Hewatch) the ex-prostitute, and Cleopatra (Chinonso Young) the trophy wife.
Different homes, diverse experience, one location.
Season 1 of “Lekki Wives” – Overview
- In this season of Lekki Wives, We follow the lives and conditions of 5 women living and working in the “Highbrow” Lekki Axis
- The women will portray very significant issues trending in Lekki and will bring to fore the very many troubles and lifestyles of Lekki residents
Starring Adaora Ukoh, Katherine Obiang, Chinonso Young, Kiki Omeili and Keira Hewatch. ”Lekki Wives” is written, produced and directed by Blessing Effiom Egbe for B’Concept Production.

Precisely, yes! And you don’t need to come about it in a bigoted way if you don’t know why the person said so. Maybe that was what she meant or maybe, like me, I’m thinking, ‘where are the waist-long Brazilian/Maylasian/Peruvian (insert all other forms that exist) weaves that is synonymous with the women there. As far as the darkened skin, well, in a sense that’s true as well (although it’s not as prevalent as the weaves epidemic yet.) It seems every other woman has a monthly supply of Egyptian milk or whatever. So I’m choosing to believe she meant it in a sarcastic way.

1. The other “Real Housewives of XYZ” that show on TV in the west all copied one another. Someone started it and more sprang up.
2. It’s okay to copy their hairstyles (which includes buying their hair too, so we can look like them), makeup, mode of dressing, accents, but it’s not okay copy their TV productions that generate laughs for the audience & and income for the producers, right?

It looks too foreign. Bring it home, as in make it more Nigerian. Have a team of talented writers like tinsel does. If you write, produce and direct u ‘ll kill it someday. U need that inflow of creativity. the concept is good but make it as Nigerian as possible and it will be a win win!

The show hasnt even started airing & see all the controversy its already generating. I agree with the person that said all them american “wives” franchise started by copying each other. If you have a problem with it, then by all means stop watching ‘idol’, ‘naija’s got talent’, ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ and others. Even Omotola’s started her own version of the ‘kadashians’..still laughing on that one. Abegi, can’t wait to watch this Lekki wives. For me, Kiki’s the one to watch. Saw one of her movies. Girl was on fire!
Again, I marvel at how people hurriedly comment without reading, even more worrisome is the possibility that you read the article but didnt understand that this is a scripted sitcom, not reality tv… So yes, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be acting, thats what they are hired to do in a sitcom.

How can you tell if the show is original if you haven’t watched it??? There are several American movies and series that make use of the caption ‘wife’, ‘wives’ or ‘housewives’, yet you don’t hear dem screaming blue murder!!! Have u guys not heard of ‘Desperate housewives’ or Football Wives or Army wives, all successful american series??? The synopsis of the show is as original as it gets, unless you guys can’t read and that is a crying shame. all the best tho. It sounds promising.

any viewer discretion warning because i think i heard/saw some curse words / raunchy sexual acts going on – moral of the story, hope parents would not lazily let their kids gather round to watch it like it’s village headmaster o!. just like the franchise here in the states some love Housewives’ series (me) while others think it’s crappy – bottom line, two sides to a coin.
