Kim Kardashian at the Love Like a Movie Concert in Nigeria

Hey Nigerians, where’s the love?

American reality TV Star Kim Kardashian has responded to a “fake tweet” which has been making the rounds for the past 24 hours. Kim Kardashian reportedly tweeted the following message – “Nigeria is such a disgusting country. I couldn’t wait to leave. lol Scott said their women look like apes and I agree”

This tweet kept the Nigerian Twittosphere abuzz last night as it made the rounds with lots of retweets and replies.

The “Scott” in the tweet is Kourtney Kardashian‘s partner.

Today, 32 year old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star responded to the social media scandal. She said “I see there’s a photo shopped tweet floating around, supposedly something I said about Nigeria. That was NOT me or my feelings”.

Kim who is currently promoting Tyler Perry’s new movie “Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor” in New York City followed up with another tweet. ‘That fake tweet is very disturbing and I would NEVER EVER tweet something like that.”

This will not be the first time Kim Kardashian has come under fire by Nigerian social media. In February 2013, she was criticized for her short stay in Nigeria while hosting Darey Art-Alade‘s Love Like a Movie concert at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    not surprising…….

  • ADANNE March 27, 2013 at 5:47 pm

That what Nigeria gets for inviting someone like that. I don’t know what Darey was thinking. That thing she did on that stage, Genevieve Nnaji or Omotola or any other well respected Nigerian female celebrity could have done better. Kim Kardashian did not add or take away anything from Dareys show. Her presence was simply irrelevant. An absolute waste of money.

    • fields March 27, 2013 at 6:42 pm

I think this would teach Nigerians a lesson, we should appreciate what we have. the essence of bringing kim was for her to portray love like a movie abi? pls does sitting down and people taking picture with you like a teddy, show any significant love? cos i cld pose with a statue and take a pix. Darey on dis one flopped, and i dnt blame Kim one bit,its nt her country, she is nt use to d environs,if she said dat ill statement abt us, i blame Darey 4 nt being patriotic, and if scott had said dat den he should look @ d mirrow again an tell exactly what he looks likes. what nonsense all this makes me sick in d stomach.

Are u blind? I am not a Kim’s fan but hey, she did not post that tweet. If anything, you should blame the Nigerian retard that came up with the fake tweet! The fact that jobless individual from your country took out time to defame a citizen of another country doesnt bother you at all? Talking about appreciating what we have, we also have retards among us. FYI, your sentiment is totally unneccessary. If you want to comment about Darey’s concert, by all means, please look for the link and comment there. But Oga, that is not what they’r talking about here. Furthermore, the only reason the stupid fake tweet went viral is because of people like you who dont bother to read properly or do a bit of reasearch before making comments or jumping at unconfirmed reports.

i dont know what to believe sincerely.i know for sure she didnt tweet that, but we dont know if that is not how she feels given that she supposedly spent less than one hour in the country.but i may be wrong. and to that ‘photoshopper’, go look for better things to do with your time.

  • kema March 27, 2013 at 5:55 pm

Some nigerians have shown that they are apes by believing it,like seriously?insulting the poor girl what a shame.

The thing taya me o… Just shows that a lot of us have very shallow brains..

  • My Own Business March 27, 2013 at 5:55 pm

Lol….umm I think where there’s smoke, there’s fire….I think there’s a possibility she might have meant to send that as a text to someone and it landed on twitter….Boo to Kim, I respect her as a human being but I’m soo ready for this her cheap unmerited fifteen minutes of fame to be over….she’s just not that important. She’s not talented, not a good role model for women…and the list goes on. Before some says I’m hating on her….I am not hating on her, just not a fan and I wish people will stop glorifying her existence

P.S: She has lost the only thing I used to like about her (her style) since she started dating Kanye, she shud just go and sleep jorr…

    • KLB March 28, 2013 at 9:09 am

      Very well said…my thoughts exactly!

    • Drama March 28, 2013 at 9:34 am

I totally agree. She needs to crawl back into the hole whence she came

    • Okechukwu Ofili March 28, 2013 at 9:37 am

you guys confuse me…you mean after you read the article you still deduced that she had something to do with it…common sense ain’t so…what’s that word…

      • Bleed blue March 28, 2013 at 10:13 am

As in Ofili…I share your confusion…it was obviously a fake tweet for goodness sake!
Where there’s smoke there’s fire abi? Well no, not in this new cyber world we’ve found ourselves in…anybody can be anything and say anything to anyone anywhere about anything they want!
I once read a story about how my cousin had been forcibly relocated to the U.S. because she wasn’t getting along with her parents, meanwhile she was sitting beside me in Ibadan and had a fantastic, even enviable relationship with her mum and dad.

Bottomline…The internet is no man’s land! Gosh people!!!

  • fantasy March 27, 2013 at 6:06 pm

No be u na find trouble? Person dey on her own jeje una say wetin u get for yonda no do una…it is well

  • konnie March 27, 2013 at 6:16 pm

Maybe, this will slow people down in paying to take a picture with someone. Like what is that for?
Dare can spend his money and invite whomever he likes to his show. If you don’t like it then don’t attend. it was a business decision for him and it seemed to have worked out well. What I didn’t understand is the audience flocking to pay for a picture. To everyone his own

    • Bunmi March 27, 2013 at 7:52 pm

She’s the Nigerian woman’s idol. They want her long silky hair, make-up, complexion, body (they think they can achieve it by eating starch 24/7), accent, citizenship, body hugging clothes, and claim to success . Naija men worship her and wish Nigerian women could look like and Beyonce. We have a home bred pornstar, Cossy, but we pay a lot of money to see international one. All is well.

      • Sel March 27, 2013 at 8:17 pm

        Like like like

      • iCrossMyHEART March 28, 2013 at 12:16 am

Sadly you are right. You only need to go to Instagram and see the glorification of their idol Kim K. The silly pouting, the weaves, the herve leger clothes, d excess. The louboutins, the hermes. It is an excess of overwhelming ignorance. It is sad. All the struggles our ancestors fought for, all laid to waste.
Why arent women emulating the likes of Sade, Chimamanda Adichie, Nneka, Zadie Smith, Alice Walker, Maya Angelou, Oprah….oops I forgot, to be like these women requires a few brain cells that some Nigerian women are not apt to forfeit. These women did not need body hugging clothes or weaves reminiscent of Rapunzel’s era to get men. Hell, some of them married multiple times, others, their men refuse to leave, showing that they are not lacking in that department.

But my Nigerian women prefer to look like caricatures instead of the real thing. How can I blame you though? When our men are resembling the forsaken Kanye or the almost half-dead looking Wiz Khalifa or the woman-beater Chris Brown. These are our role models.

This generation in Nigeria and in America is LOST. Totally. Where are the WEBois, James Baldwin, Aire Cesaire, Frantz Fanon, Leopold Senghor of this generation? Well, go to the club where they are smoking weed and dancing to “we beat the hoe down”.

  • how to make special fried rice 'chinese' March 27, 2013 at 6:20 pm

@ Konnie, are you serious?they paid to take picture with another human being?see, we are d ones idolizing her. pls peeps if u dont know what to use ur money for, may i send my account details.God bless.

  • oge March 27, 2013 at 6:20 pm

    It is a shame

  • Thatgidigirl March 27, 2013 at 6:25 pm

@ my own business, madam role model we haff hear you 0. She’s not talented etc but she’s worth your 5 mins or more that u spent on reading an article about her and dropping a comment, and worth your dstv subscription you spend to watch her “talentless” self on E. Keep telling yourself that, maybe thats what helps your food digest.

    • Specs March 27, 2013 at 7:09 pm

you are really a gidi girl with gidi fish brain….I clicked on this thread because it’s about someone insulting Nigerians…and I am infact a Nigerian, so yes reading the post is worth 100hours of my time….By the way…how do you know this person is in Naija to start with?? and even if, hence automatically watches E!…see as you just exposed yourself…not everyone is shallow like you, you know?? there more channels on DSTV than E and AfricaMagic…Use your remote control…your life will never remain the same….

    • Me March 27, 2013 at 7:22 pm

      Well said!

  • MySpiritIs'Miffed' March 27, 2013 at 6:59 pm

As much as I really really dislike Kim and most of what she stands for…I don’t think she’d tweet that sha! She never really gets confrontational and outrightly mean…not like I see that as a good thing though but it’s part of her “hey everybody am so sweet and beautiful, come pay to do nothing for you” brand….anyways na she sabi!! shebi her sister’s bff is Naija??

  • Madam the Madam March 27, 2013 at 7:01 pm

Oh look! All the people still sad and bitter about Darey spending HIS money to bring Kim to Nigeria have come to congregate for another sobfest. All of you will be okay.

    • jcsgrl March 27, 2013 at 7:17 pm

LMAO! I know right and I unashamedly answer present for that one. D thing dey pain me no be small. I don’t think she tweeted it but I’m sure somewhere in that preety face of hers, she must have thought so. Like you said, I’ll be ok

  • dunni March 27, 2013 at 7:08 pm

I’m not a KK fan but the moment i read that i knew she wont say that even in her sleep…Move on peeps

  • Odine March 27, 2013 at 7:11 pm

I’m not the biggest Kim K fan and she might be accused or even be guilty of many things, she has never exhibited any rude or disrespectful traits and I think people should either give her more credit or they themselves should go on to acquire more brain cells. Do people stop to think before they believe everything out there in the online or media space? One minute we claim some sort of intelligence the next we exhibit the absence of it all together. People read it and automatically assumed the worst of her. And those of you who believed it simply because, lets learn caution and common sense, both work hand in hand

  • Mrs Understand March 27, 2013 at 7:11 pm

Whether the feelings were hers or not my question is do Nigerian women look like apes…?
If the answer is always True shade A
If the answer is Never True shade B
If it is often True but Not Always True shade C
If it is impossible to say how True it is shade D
Those of us who heard about evolution know that ALL mankind resembles ape one way or the other.
So the tweet doesn’t worth the furore….

  • obikels March 27, 2013 at 7:12 pm

Who cares!!! I dnt.ppl dt hv money spend it wat eva way dey like.I just need. To make mine fast. ;)

  • omo March 27, 2013 at 7:45 pm

My fellow Nigerians, The thing is OUR image abroad is not a very good one. For me it’s not if kim made those comment or not. It speaks to the fact of how alot of people in the west still see us. OUR POLITICIANS /ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE FAILED US BIG TIME. As for Nigerian celebrities, they can keep coming to united states & hanging out with hollywood stars all they want. If dem like sef invite kim another 20 times to nigeria in 1 year or any hollywood celebrity to naija to show off or for whatever their reasons are. OR even wear the same designers/ name brands with hollywood stars. The truth is the Big elephant is still in the room. Nigeria has alot of serious issues, we can’t continue to sweep our problem under the carpet & not expect it to show somehow/some way. NIGERIAN IMAGE NEEDS AN URGENT REBUILDING. Time is ticking! TICK TOCK!!!!

    • K March 27, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Thank u.well said.i just read a comment on a blog sayin Nigerians try too hard to be African Americans.Make we check ourselves.too much wash wash.truth be told

  • fashionandstylepolice March 27, 2013 at 8:22 pm

Of course Kim, we know you will never tweet that. That will put an end to the future Naija appearances am sure you are hoping for (easy money).

  • K March 27, 2013 at 8:39 pm

No be I talk am?true or not I’m still laughing.

  • Partyrider March 27, 2013 at 8:40 pm

That tweet was PHOTOSHOPPED by a NIGERIAN guy on twitter(who later admitted it). If not Nigerians that like to vent over unimportant issues, they could have easily known it was fake. The verified sign shows on a single tweet.
I pray we become very vocal like this about things that matter!!

And a lot of you need to get over the fact she was paid (whatever the amount is) for that show.

  • whocares March 27, 2013 at 8:43 pm

I cant believe people actually thought she said that.. ever heard of internet trolls.. plus she wouldnt dare say it anyways.. there is such thing as being P.C. The sad part of this for me, is that whoever did is is Nigerian. How much confidence do we lack if we stoop to doing this.. lets face it, whoever came up with that, that is his/ her perception of what the world thinks of Nigeria.. Its one thing for the world to think that way (not saying they do), its another for us to endorse these views.

  • AW March 27, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Well if she did, she should note that her baby daddy came out of an “ape” . That means her child will be half “ape”. If she didn’t , well……..

  • Cool cat March 27, 2013 at 8:50 pm

@bunmi, you just summed up Kim’s celebrity status. Long bouncy hair, perfect face, body, perfect fit for clothes, rich, American, infact, we all wish we could be her

    • iCrossMyHEART March 28, 2013 at 12:08 am

I hope this is your attempt at sarcasm. I do not find Kim K attractive AT ALL. Men love her because they see easy P***Y. After they hit it, they run. Look at her history of boyfriends. If she had the “perfect” face, body, hair, or whatever, she will not have a problem holding on to men. Kris H realized it too late that physical appearance means nothing without substance.

I LOVE MY NATURAL HAIR, BROWN SKIN, BODY TYPE AND NO I DO NOT WEAR BODY HUGGING CLOTHES. Hell if you had said Sophia Loren had the perfect face, I would have believed you. Or Sade, or Ayo or even Eryka Badu. But Kim? A caricature of mainstream American culture, I will pass.

      • Ifanyonecares March 29, 2013 at 12:02 am

  • Tunji March 27, 2013 at 9:45 pm

How Some pple can believe anything they see on a social media without some reasonable degree of confirmation is unthinkable! I trust she didn’t do it. There’s a good percentage that whoever begin this rumour is a Nigerian!

  • Ok o March 27, 2013 at 10:03 pm

  • Sara Adebayo March 28, 2013 at 12:57 am

Good for the fools who paid 500,000 USD to fly her. Some few months ago , when I commented about KIM in Nigeria, why paying her that money, why flying her, and other stuff, my fellows Nigerians insulted me, calling me names: THIS IS WHAT I SAW.. GOOD, VERY GOOD.. THIS IS A LIFE LESSON FOR THE FOOLS WHO FLEW HER THERE.

    • Iphie March 28, 2013 at 7:35 am

      sharap dia! Holy you. mcheewwww.

    • kikiN March 28, 2013 at 7:03 pm

Can’t you read that it was a fake tweet?? Are you blind?? What exactly is the point of your comment?

  • IGNORANCE March 28, 2013 at 1:35 am

It obviously wasn’t her celebrities have blue checks next to their names on their twitter so if anybody believed that then they are stupid. I’m not all that in love with Kim K but give her a break like come on she is human. Those idiots that said it was her obviously don’t know how twitter works to be honest. She apologized and said it wasn’t her. all these people that say they don’t like her are probably the ones watching and feeding into their empire so take a seat please.

  • Ricky Ade March 28, 2013 at 3:48 am

Nigerians and their wannabe mentality. any trash from “abroad” is good enough for them. pathetic!!!

  • dealjw March 28, 2013 at 5:46 am

well Kim might not be bold enough to say that on twitter but bet your butt on it she thinks that in her mind . but i aint that suprised if she thinks that coz dbanj over dere kissing her boyfriend’s ass and she is over here getting fame for no reason and right there in her mind she thinking damn ”these people are fools” .i mean i like kim but damn right she would think that

  • Miss C March 28, 2013 at 7:58 am

Errrm @ mr ignorance, so where is the verification sign of her response tweet. I’m not saying twas her or not, but I know a few people who say they saw d tweet, twas up for a few secs, n den was put down. My question is y didn’t she make any reference to her visit to NIgeria after she went back to d states. Every1 knows Kim will always talk about any country she visited including her first visit to Africa. Somdis tweet might just be d missing link.

  • Chyke March 28, 2013 at 9:03 am

Am not sure Kim was paid. Darey might have been friends with her on FB n then beg her to co-host his show (which am not so sure though). From my own definition of a celebrity, Agbani Derego is a bigger celebrity than Kim.

  • Lola March 28, 2013 at 9:14 am

Na God catch all of una wey dey worship her…

  • Chyke March 28, 2013 at 9:22 am

Kim said she didn’t put up d tweet n I believe her. Her 40seconds appearance @d show was d reason why most Nigerians attended. Am very sure it was a Nigerian dat started dis rumour cos they have been saying trash about Darey after d show. Naija likes making lil things sound big. Darey said he didn’t pay Kim d rumoured amount.

  • PINK March 28, 2013 at 10:01 am

lol………naija sha, all kim worshippers i hail o.

  • beauty805 March 28, 2013 at 11:15 am

She’s nt d one dat tweeted it. It was a nigerian student dat did dat *sch witheld* his aim has been achieved. Loooool.

  • Omo1 March 28, 2013 at 12:01 pm

Some people (especially we Nigerians ) are so bad blooded down to the roots that they will with all pleasure choose to believe and readily accept something bad rather than good..and that is why only bad things comes to such people.

Even if I might not personally know Kim, there is no way I could have believed such tweet was originally from her, not because I worship her but because she is human and a public figure, so she very well knows the outcome of such

  • reenie March 28, 2013 at 12:18 pm

i still dont why we cant recon a fake from an original…not exactly a fan but that babe dint tweet that rubbish, i mean what does she stand to gain , una neva hear of hackers … you read things and you just swallow it without even thinking…while you are busy hating on her, shes busy making her money and increasing her fan base and then again you are busy being jobless.#sipsmyhotmilodrink#

So funny how some Nigerians are still attacking Kim K for this FAKE tweet even after reading the caption in bold (“That was Not Me or My Feelings” American Reality TV Star Kim Kardashian responds to Fake Tweets about Nigeria) and the article attached to it refuting the claims. Is it until we see blood that we will give the girl a break.
People make me laugh at times, tell me why she would need to write that, when this could be another potential business opportunity for her next time and all these people hating on her for the – KimDareygate matter. Seriously, she was just getting paid for what she does on a normal basis, see me see compound wahala o. Her career is dressing up and making appearances, did she tell you she is a spokes woman, politician or musician. Did you expect her to dance or sing a duet with Darey on stage? so abeg lets stop this nonsense. She obviously knows how to make quick cash, without doing nothing at all, even when preggers.

  • rhi March 28, 2013 at 4:51 pm
