Rhapsody of Art & Colour: Tiffany Amber Spring/Summer 2010 @ ARISE Promise
Of all the designers that showed their collections as part of the ARISE Promise of Africa Collective at the New York Fashion Week, Tiffany Amber can be considered as the most accomplished – having been in the business for over a decade and shown collections in Johannesburg, Kenya and earlier this year in New York – expectations were high. Add that to the fact that, Tiffany Amber is the first Africa-based designer to show at NY Fashion Week twice – another distinction indeed. We were waiting with bated breath for what the veteran would unleash this time. As the models strutted down the runway in these fluid yet sexy pieces, you got a strong sense of the inspiration for the collection – a painting by Nigerian artiste Kolade Oshinowo which was transferred to fabric and formed the base for many of the pieces. It was also great to see that Tiffany Amber had a few tricks up their sleeves including the silk print playsuit and off-shoulder knee-length layered lace dress.Overall, the collection evoked a sense of vibrancy and escape – as though the pieces would whisk the wearer away to their dream vacation spot. Magical and timeless!

Press Points – What the Press Had to say about Tiffany Amber @ ARISE Promise
“Tiffany Amber’s spring silhouettes are loose, flowing and butterfly-like. Her abstract prints and ethereal palette evoke a sense of freedom and the feeling of sunshine and holidays — resort-wear at its best” – The New York Post
“Tiffany Amber, a line done by Nigerian designer, Folake Folarin-Coker, held an air of summer sophistication with lush jewel tones and flowing fabric. Skirts were full, as well as sleeves. The fabric moved with the models almost with a life of its own. Sexy was done in an understated, elegant manner with side cutouts in a loose-fitting, long dress” – I’m Not Obsessed
“Tiffany Amber’s funky, fringe accented designs. Amber scored double cool points for hiring striking “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 12 contestant Amina to stalk the catwalk and for recruiting supermodel Chanel Iman” – Splendid City.com
