All these chicks and their fake-ass “Hermes” bags….Those bags have a long ass waiting list in reality and are’nt even displayed on the hermes website because of how limited they are. And these wannabe women actually expect us to believe those are authentic Hermes bags???…PLEASE!!

  13. Lisa

    June 28, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I really don’t understand why Nigerian girls or women have to be so negative. How do you know her bag is not authentic? Guess u’ve been looking @ some not soooo real ones urself. Anyhooo every1 looked hot. Get a life and stop being nasty.

  14. Tinu

    June 28, 2010 at 2:29 pm

@ Lisa, not to pick sides and bash anyone., no negativity for real…but honestly, that hermes bag, i know is fake. This is coming from someone who doesn’t just look at Hermes in photos. I used to work in the Hermes store in San Francisco and heck that brown/camel one is truly fake. Now nothing wrong with fake anything. Honestly, to each his or her own. How some people wear some of these stuff already suggests if its fake or not anyway. Half of the time you know this chics…you know where they work, and you know how much they make and what kind of humble homes they emerge from. Fiam….all of a sudden Atutupoyoyo shows up at an event, rocking everything modestly and tops it with Hermes bag…then you know for sure ok….something aint right. That’s perhaps what some folks like Nina see here and outright call some chics “wanna be s” cos honestly, it can be frustrating to those who paid market price for that bag. No i didn’t pay market price, i bought one at employee discount and still sold it to one of the big madams cos i feel it’s tacky for me to carry that bag unless i can back it up with all my other visible assets and source of income. No hate. Fake or not, rock whatver makes you comfortable but i m just making a point here.

  15. dontbother

    June 28, 2010 at 4:13 pm

does anyone have any other job to do these days apart from being a ‘style consultant’ to people who dont exist….or can any of you here honestly say you have patronized them before…all of you get a real job and contribute to the economy, please….until then, yawn…..

  16. Tinu

    June 28, 2010 at 4:55 pm

    Lmao @ dontbother. That’s a good observation

  17. Latasha Ngwube

    June 28, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Hmmn……..pls did you wait for a bag and you didn’t get it? And by waiting I mean fasting and prayer? I seriously doubt that you have ever seen an authentic Hermes in your entire life!!! And @ Tinu, you said you worked at an Hermes store, then I would have to conclude that you were fired for incompetency because I know Toyin Badeji personally AND I know she has waited for that bag for 2 good years. She only picked that bag up three weeks ago and you have the temerity to suggest that her bag is a fake??? So if she wants to wear rags and fling a high priced luxury bag on it who’s business is it? The problem with Lagos people is simple. HATERISM!
And as for “don’t bother”, i hope your you are doing your quota for the economy by way of employing Nigerians all over so that we the “jobless” can continue to swan around doing what we do best which according to you is nothing.
I work for Thisday and I salute Veronica Ebie Odeka…Who no like am make them faint!

  18. Chameleon

    June 28, 2010 at 5:15 pm

Oh hell yeah! That HERMES bag is definitely FAKE.

I love Yvonne Nwosu’s look. Anyone know where the dress is from?

    Etiosa looks real cute.

  19. Lisa

    June 28, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Lol grown ass girls being silly come on girls grow up. if its not real or not no1 gives a s**t she looks good and feels good about who she is and what she has. I don’t kn this babe but its just not nice to be nasty. Let’s just leave it ppl. Tinu u must be as jobless as us seen as u have time to look, read and make comments ABI?

  20. Lisa

    June 28, 2010 at 7:26 pm

Sorry not tinu. So sorry my bad ment to say dontbother must be as jobless as the rest of us

Women all look beautiful, Good Job on the coverage Bella. The event was really nice and the turn out was great. Very supportive crew and i like how you covered it nicely here on your website.

in other news, why is every critique constured as hateration among Nigerians? I was actually at the event and saw the bag close up…needless to say, it’s not quite the real thing and i don’t see a problem with that. By the way Latasha, the Birkin and Kelly waitlists do not exist like someone said earlier on. You can get good imitations for like $1K or a little more. There is a grace that comes with buying a Birkin or Kelly and it’s not the kind of grace that allows you to wear rags (you said it) with it. Hahahhaha…just saying

  22. Lia

    June 28, 2010 at 7:59 pm

Lovely event!! Hate I missed it.. But I’ll def. Be using ur services “Vane Style” best of luck to you! Never mind the jobeless haters! If u were hawking plantain no one would care about u, but once u start to climb the ladder of success that’s when they come out! Keep on climbing n I’ll c u at the TOP!!!

  27. Really

    June 28, 2010 at 11:32 pm

Its obvious that tinu and dont bother must have had a rag to riches story where you feel the best way to dress to wear eveything branded so u can make a point, i must agree with latasha, u can wear something simple and jazz it up with a luxury item, you dont have to be fashion foolish by wearing all the brands in ur wardrope because you want to be a classly chic, and pls that you dont know ppl or where they work or what their income is does not mean they can not afford luxury items pls stop being silly cos really who are you to know who these ppl are.

Well done vee, really proud of u

    June 28, 2010 at 11:39 pm

  29. Omada

    June 28, 2010 at 11:52 pm

people can disturb themselves o! if the bag is real or fake ehen?
the owner certainly looks pleased with herself…

personally, i think if you can’t afford the original & but can get a very good imitation, why not? even though i don’t understand the craze for labels…
but to each her own abeg…. life is too short to fight over unnecessary stuff like dis….

    @ Really
really? who are they to know who these pple are? r u kidding?. i dnt c anyone who has changed d world spectacularly. now i know its not fair they are yabbing her bag but its not that serious.
as for those of u debating whether her bag is real or not, chill, its her life and if she decides to carry fake or real ain’t ur problem.

Loving Yvonne’s dress, something i would so wear,it has colour, embellishments and its a mazi. uber fab. Bella any info on how one might get her clothers pls?

  35. Bola #1

    June 29, 2010 at 3:21 pm

my my, Yvonne Nwosu always looks on point, same with ‘Duchess’
There are some ladies, like the 2 metioned above, that I think BN can do a style feature on (just like that done on Funke Fowler)

    I LOVE Anuli’s dress

Amy’s jumpsuit looks a bit worrisome (2nd pic). I dont like the way it pulls in the lower region
Ivie Igbindeion also, not soo flattering

  36. Lisa

    June 29, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Lol what about Freeda is styleish pls? Her skin is nice and her hair is sometimes on point she’s a nice girl but style I don’t think so luv.

  37. dorian

    June 30, 2010 at 10:11 am

And as for Latasha you don’t have to be quite so vitriolic with your response. You work for ThisDay no? Then try to show a bit more class. What’s with all the “make them faint” comments? Look through Bella’s posts for the one on the Fab Magazine launch and see how Sinem Onabanjo dealt with criticism.

Don’tbother does have a point when she/he says that Nigeria as a country without electricity and which produces nothing should be more focused on getting the basics right. But there seems to be a market for this styling business so y’all should go for it; Vanessa and cohort are filling a legitimate need. The only part I cannot understand is when Ifeoma Williams calls herself an image consultant and she always turns up looking like a beautiful undertaker.

  38. Cecil

    June 30, 2010 at 10:45 am

@ Dorian, errm, isn’t it kind of very obvious who Latasha really is? I mean what are the odds that this same person knows who is on waiting lists and coincidentally works at This Day…yadi yadi yadi…her defense was rather so strong, it’s too damn obvious…

  39. latasha

    June 30, 2010 at 12:34 pm

@ Dorian, suddenly speaking pidgin makes me classless? I thot we had “more important” things to worry about? Shdnt u be trying to find a cure for aids or tinkering away somewhere, looking for solutions to National issues? Also her name is VERONICA and not Vanessa! As for your use of the word “cohorts”? Pls have a rethink because that is a rather inappropriate term.
And as for Cecil, what EXACTLY is your point?
Jeez! People just never stop flapping their gobs!
P.S. This wasn’t my event so I’m commenting just like others and I’m not Sinem…I’m LATASHA!
Who know like am…u really don’t want me to tell u where to put it.

  40. Tomiwa Idowu

    June 30, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Lmao @ Latasha. Paddy mi, kilon shelle? @ Dorian, instead of you to go and work hard and discover yourself you are taking shots at others. I dont think you understand the job of an image consultant really, If Ifeoma looks like a beautiful undertaker, maybe she created that image for herself. No? What might be wrong with that?

Abeg oh Let those who have jobs do it and the rest of us can sit in London and yarn dust on BN.
Anyways, I’m feeling Tari Ekiyor’s get up the most, rather subtle and chic.

  41. Nina

    June 30, 2010 at 2:00 pm

@ Lisa….Clearly I hd already stated my reasons for suggesting their bags were’nt authentic…in addition to that I can assure you I know what I am talking about because I interned with Hermes last year!!

To do with those who claim to ve worked in some hermes outlet or d other for one I knw hermes doesn’t give staff discounts on bags or is it purses as d americans call it so dnt even go there.

I on d other hand ve’d a good laugh reading all dis.

@sally_ cos she worked in an outlet doesn’t mean she is poor, she could ve been in sch while she worked there. Secondly sally did u c ruth in her jump suit? I’d pick d pick d “BIG AND BEAUTIFUL” chic anytime and any day. Mean d big and beautiful chics bag is hot! It looks like phython skin.
The sally who is talking am sure she has never gone for a fashion event in her life before let alone talking about what others wear. HissSsssssssS. Try to change your phone cos d key pads have left d handset.

    ROTFALMAO…….na wa for us o!

Anyway everyone is entitled to their own comments….no long thing. I think if you decide to post your two kobo’s worth on the internet then whatever you get… get. Life is too short.

The Igbinedion girls bag is called the ‘botox’ bag – it’s a zagliani. Whether real or fake it is totally gorgeous!!!! The python skin (animal lovers no kill me o) is uber fabulous….so soft. It is a truly beautiful bag.

Thank you Bella for your website o. We don’t need to go out again to see ‘free show’. Just log on to Bella Naija for your own personal viewing……plus the added pleasure of comments from naija’s fashion police and roforofo online bitching.

BTW, Veronica, Ruth Osime needs a total makeover…..and I am not being nasty.

i didn’t know so many of my pple have worked, interned n had menial jobs according to sally in hermes. All these insults over a bag i have long considered to b d ugliest bag in d world. to think VB has this bag in many random colours is just wrong.

and let me do small detective work since y’all claim to b right, those claiming it is real, fake, those claiming they get staff discounts n those who say its a lie i suggest bella puts up a kind of a lie lie comment detector on this site.

@ Sally cos she worked @ Hermes it means she’s poor? and if she is poor, ehen?

Not a lot of the outfit wowed me but the event looked nice.About this Hermes bag. There willalways be people carrying the real one and those that will carry the fake one. Lagos big girls should sa not kill them selves trying to keep up with the Joneses.

@ Latasha go and sit down…Some of us know you and your background from way back in Shagamu till University of Lagos…You work for This Day?LMAO.

  54. Juniorandpretty

    July 1, 2010 at 7:07 am

Gosh!!Making a negative comment naturally makes one a hater on Bella Naija.

    Truly the word is tiring……….

  55. Toothsy

    July 1, 2010 at 8:01 am

Sally, your ignorance no get boundary sha. Working at Hermes is now menial? LMAO…Did you know LVMH, Hermes, Dior etc all recruit (yep, you heard me right, recruit, not hire) MBAs from tops schools like Wharton, Kellogg and Harvard? So what’s your point again? Menial my arse. Omo anything that pays the bills, give you the right medical coverage etc is far from menial.
hahahhaha…please remember o not everyone can come to Lagos and start trying to sell the same damn designer handbag or aunty Funmi hair or fashion consultants as they say Do you know how many of these chics have shops in VI and Ikoyi stuffed with 20 items from 2 falls/spring season ago , and nobody buys jack from them? The sit there all day with pancake face and Brazilian hair but no sales. Besides the Lisa Folawiyo, Tiffany Amber, Elohor, Nike Okeowo and a few others who really have legit business they run, have worked hard and we can see how well they have fared, half of these other chics do silly things to keep up with the likes of the aforementioned. The pressure to stay fly in Lagos is becoming borderline madness. Hats off to the real entrepreneur ladies..doing big things, making things happen that we can really see. And to the hypocrites out there…using your “e go better” salary and ahem…**cough cough** aristo runs to keep up with the real bigger girls, you know yourself and you better have a solid plan B cos one day, like they say…Monkey go go market ihn no go return. Lol That said, i am waiting to see who rocks the Croc Birkin first….sebi now, everyone don buy the $7k -$12K birkin plus the $800 fakes right?. So game changer, i dare una to bring out the $35K croc..eyin bi ti bawo. una head no dey there….oya bring it. by the way Bella, i love love love this site. keep up the nice work

Toothsy please don’t dare them because it will soon become the newest craze in Lagos. This whole designer bag business don tire me sef. Ah ah, 35,000 dollars for a bag? A pretty bland bag at that!

I personally think this whole Hermes thing is just a scam; handmade with the best leather from the mountains of bla bla bla… . It’s just ridiculous but it goes to show that is you price it high enough, and get Chav-in-chief Victoria Beckham to buy enough of it, you can sell literally anything at any price!

[email protected] Judith. I like the ijo shina. Brings back memories. But girl, you will be surprised the rate these “I gots to belong” chics dey go, i won’t be surprised. Right now it’s no longer about style…it’s simply about outdoing the next chikito. Everyone wants to stand out and feel prove levels day. Mind you nothing wrong with standing out…heck, we don’t throw stones at Kim Kardarshian, Naomi Campbelll, etc for looking fly. However, if you are a Salary Earner, or Jekuredi business woman, trying to buy Croc instead of reinvesting your cash to grow your business or you just hang around certain cliques to land rich husband so you can maintain, then wahala wah.

I have laughed so hard that I am now totally confused.

It is soooooo true. If you make any ‘the truth is bitter’ comment on Bella Naija, the people that it is chooking will attack you. why now? and as for the feeling over sensitive part na wa. Lagos chicks like to have only the positive stuff said about them, but not the one that pains them. After all if you imagine you are the local version of Naomi/Oprah/Tyra or Victoria B, when they write about them do they get personal and ask friends to refute the gist? Soon we will hear of the latest rave ‘publicist’ who will start defending the reputation of their pint size Lagos celebrity on BN.

@Toothsy, be like say you and I dey do the study of these foolish wannabe ‘no source of income’ and just arrived from nowhere celebrity people in Lagos. Lol!

naija ppl can never see the good in things and leave it at that…everyone looks good. @ kemi and toothsay.. no one is calln u haters, but when u make comments like jobless no source of inclome well that pretty much makes u a hater expecially when you dont know ppl personally. @justincase since u feel the need to discuss someone elses’s style ability y dont u go open ur own agency and reflect ur own style? oh wait??? one needs style and im sure u prob dont even have any. i beg you go siddon somewhere jare. as the person who wore the pants they fit just fine and she has over 60 pixs in her portfolio andshowcased 3. also its not meant to be day to night its just a few pixs and as one of her clients i know how good she is ,so u can float ur jealous critical self down a river. @juniorandpretty, who told u the event was to wow ur tastebuds? lol. u jokers are truly something else. discussing ppls past on her is totally classless and reflects your messy character. so u knw latasha and ???? while u hide behinde a fake name, prob because you have a past that can run you outta naija. lastly its always easy to talk and discourage than build up…pointless ppl leaving pointless comments will always be a period at the end of someone elses success. you stay leaving foolish comments while those with a serious agenda will continue to rise.

@ Sally…I actually responded to your ignorant comment two days ago however it appears BJ did’nt approve of my langueage so I will re-phrase:

    (1) I am most certainly not “poor” and find it quite amusing that you would make such an illiterate assumption just because I interned at Hermes.
    (2) I interned there whilst at LCF so believe me, it was a priviledge to be selected from my peers to work with such a distinguished fashion house.
    (3) Perhaps my tone should’ve been “nicer” however I work in Fashion and know the damage counterfeit wares does to a designers brand – e.g. it cheapens the brand in the eyes of those clients who can actually afford the authentic goods.
    (4) I dont care what Latisha says, that bag is most cerainly faux. If she told you she was on a waiting list, she lied. Trust me.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. so , because you choose to wear a bowtie for your cat and you decide to call it a bow tie wearing cat, if I choose to refer to it as a cat (the true description) why will you take offence?

I beg. No one is putting any one down or being a hater here. The truth is bitter.
