It was an intimate gathering in honour of the young Nigerian achievers who have excelled over the last 12 months and have been rewarded with Future Awards nominations. The theme of the event was “Get Your Green On” and the purpose was to present the Future Awards 2010 nominees with their certificates, give the guests an opportunity to network and also raise funds for Love on the Streets, an NGO working with disadvantaged children of the Dustbin Estate, Lagos.
The nominees’ reception took place on Sunday 19th December 2010 at Ember Creek in Lagos. The event was hosted by Face of Sleek, Makida Moka and Wale Dizzy Akinjogbin. There were musical performances by Tiwa Savage and ChiDynma. There was also a fashion show which featured designers including young talent – iamISIGO.
Tolu Sangosanya, 2010 winner of the Best Use of Advocacy, runs the LOTS Foundation and spoke to the guests at the reception about the work she does. “The foundation works with children of the Dustbin Estate in Ajegunle,” she said. “LOTS aims to provide basic needs: feeding, clothing, proper education and exposure. To further achieve this, the foundation is building a resource center for the needs of the children.”
