New Decade, New Asa! Glowing Asa, Bold Don Jazzy, Adventurous Tolu Ogunlesi & lots more in the “New Decade” Issue of Y! Magazine

They’re still pushing the envelope! The 3rd edition of Y! Magazine – the flagship publication from the Y! brand – is back set to hit the stands in a few days.

It’s the New Decade Issue, and the Y! team have taken things up a notch. “You think we stepped up to the plate with the Freedom Issue,” says associate editor Damilola Oyedele, “But we’re absolutely positive that this issue is the best yet!
The ‘noughties’ – 2000-2010 – were years of many discoveries, like the Jan-March Y! cover girl. Y! features Asa like you’ve never, ever seen or heard before! For the very first time, she bares her heart on her issues – the really personal realities she has never before shared in public, while discussing the painful personal experiences that birthed the songs in her debut and sophomore albums.

In this rare Nigerian cover – only her second professional cover in three years – Asa speaks of her past, her life, her love, her pain, her joy: she takes us deep into the beautiful mind that churns out those deep lyrics and soulful tunes.

And as icing on this cake, for the first time ever, the editorial team gets the singer to publicly wear a dress! Yes, you heard right. Call it a Super Exclusive. Styled by the uber-talented Dimeji Alara, the dazzling shoot is one you do not want to miss.

This issue is also brimming over with content that investigates the past decade and makes predictions into the next – in art, fashion, entertainment, career and the economy. There’s a delightful fashion spread featuring Mai Atafo, Lola Maja, Banke Meshida, Ugoma Adegoke and others; Chinedu Iroche and Tanko Ayuba write two through-provoking – and provocative! – exposé on music heavyweights, Don Jazzy and D’Banj, and a there’s delightfully frank feature you would love – Don’t follow your passion! – from Aziza Uko.

Also, in this edition’s #Hashtag section, Joy Bewaji, Bola Aduwo, Isabella Akinseye, Temitayo Olofinlua, Bobby Taylor, and others review the music, movies, books and pop culture highlights which caught buzz in the past year. Tolu Ogunlesi – after ten days roaming the airports of Europe – tells us all about Sleeping in Airports, and in What Were You Thinking?! Ruggedman tells us just why he recorded that famous conversation… and more!

“As usual, Y! presents the very best of writing you will find anywhere around these parts – in addition to brilliant photography and stories you won’t find anywhere else,” Oyedele said.
