I totally adore styling lookbooks! I have said that before right? I absolutely love the new Prima Rouge collection! As Prima Rouge is a unisex line, I collaborated with Terence Sambo, and he styled the male collection. Great Job Terence!
I found the Prima Rouge collection entirely wearable, very African and totally original. The pieces are well cut, precise and figure flattering. It was quite refreshing to see a line that solidly echoes our core cultures and traditions. Sometimes, one worries over the gradual loss of our culture as a result of the huge polarization of the western fashion into our markets. Prima Rouge’s head designer, Tobi Martins did an excellent job. I can’t wait to see what she would come up with in her next collection. I shall definitely be snagging some of these pieces! The male collection is absolutely cool as well.
Prima Rouge believes fashion is an artistic expression that captures the imagination of how a garment relates to the human form. ‘Our ready-to-wear pieces are unique and well-designed; simple yet colourful with a flair for ingenious detailing. We use hand finishing methods to create intricate details that set our pieces apart’.
About the new collection– “Rebellion”: “Our ready-to-wear pieces from the new collection are unique and well-designed; inspired by geometry as well as the relationship between form and function. The collection is called rebellion because the pieces are somewhat disjointed and do not relate to each other. Instead, each garment is tailored to a certain kind of persona and life-style and in so doing; it tells a story behind the individual who will be drawn to that piece. There is no “copy-cat” neither is there a pattern that was drawn from another designers back or hard work”- Tobi Martins
