The Wedding Company is back with our fifth exciting LoveStruck series, “Meet me at the Train Station”!
This photo shoot focuses on one of our newly-weds, Odafe & Toyosi. They did this shoot just a week before their wedding! We love Odafe and Toyosi’s bubbly personalities and sense of fun. We were keen to reflect their characters by picking a theme that had playfulness as well as elegance infused.
Speaking of the moment her husband proposed, Odafe tells us how she was taken to a restaurant for a special birthday dinner: “In the middle of the first course, I remember him passing my final birthday gift (or so I thought) across to me which was a shopping voucher in an envelope. I collected it with a huge smile, thanked him and we ate our dinner. Just when the main course was almost done, Toyosi handed me another envelope. At this point with a loud laughter I asked, ‘How many vouchers did you get me please?’ As I opened the envelope, he just smiled and stood up. I began to wonder where he was going and then I saw it……….OMG! In the envelope was a card and in the card was written ‘Odafe, please will you marry me?’ I was shocked, I did not expect that at all and as I looked up, I saw Toyosi in front of me on one knee hahahahaha……..He pulled me up and verbally asked the same question. I said YES. He was excited and got up, pulled up my hand, turned facing the entire restaurant and yelled …….’SHE SAID YES’ several times. I was overjoyed and embarrassed at the same time hahaha……..Even the dictionary has not exactly come up with a word to express how I felt.”
We decided to use a railway station as the location to create a wistfully romantic feel for these UK based Lovebirds. The vintage styling of the couple ties in perfectly with the old station, which is located in Iddo, Lagos (yes, Lagos has passenger rails, who knew?!) and Jaekel House close to the station. Both locations provided the perfect backdrop for this photo shoot as Iddo retains all the charms of an old station platform, with original tracks and coaches- so cute.
It was also a pleasure learning about the Nigerian railway system and visiting a unique part of Lagos! The 100 year old Jaekel House is actually a Railway Museum, for more information please visit: legacynigeria1995.org
We would like to say a big thank you to the Railway team who allowed us to use the railway, and also to our amazing photographer Damell who made our story visually astonishing!
