We’ve missed Eku Edewor on the red carpet. Although the TV presenter was seen last week at the Diesel Store Launch (click here to see), she has been MIA for a while.

But on Sunday evening, the Studio 53 Extra host made an uber chic return to the blue carpet at the 2013 Aquafina Elite Model Look Nigeria finale.

For the event, Eku chose a white blazer, a black crop tank top to flaunt a bit of her toned abs and white slouchy belted pants from Alexander Wang‘s spring/summer 2011 collection.

Opting for a sleek up do and pink lipstick, she finished the look with a pink clutch and a pair of gold-and-white sandals.

The trench is from a spring/summer collection and the event

      Mo Abudu-Yes! Absolutely stunning!
Bola Balogun- I’m guessing Folake Coker is your friend… No further comment

@Tinuade, apart from the fact that it is rarely seen on non-Nigerian red carpets etc. (i wondered about that) and status symbol (which I believe the bracelet can also show), is there a particular reason we should not wear wristwatches?
Pls note: I’m no fashionista, not to talk of going on red carpets etc., but I would like to know so I don’t ‘fumble’ too.

Agbani is wayyyy toooo skinny for a Herve dress, her body
is too straight. Now i absolutely prefer Millen to her, just for
the curves of Millen. God bless you Marc Francis of Chelsea, its so
annoying when people talk of heat in this country. Except you are
standing on the road waiting for BRT, there is no reason why sun
should touch your skin at all. The hat is so chic, many people will
never understand. This was a fashion show and she went all out, i
only wish her shoes were more fierce. The woman is a style icon,
she doesn’t get it right all the time but who does, as long as she
keeps pushing the boundaries, not conforming in any way whatsoever,
that is fash-on. I only need 2 hrs in her closet! Elohor’s shoes
are totally wrong for this dress, oh my, and better body shapers
next time, she looks bleh, just like beyonce did when she wore her
jumpsuit. I don’t know how mo abudu does it, i suspect some work
has been done but hey, who wants to age? The dress is too day time
though but fits like a glove. Eku, I’m on the fence with this look.
Very androgenous but bland. Maybe a leather bralet but i can
understand the fear of blog comments. Her body though, her face
    though, eku though!

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      October 1, 2013 at 9:09 am

You know what, Cool cat? I agree with you re Nkiru A. She’s a fierce non-conformist in a city filled with women that cling to very generic trends and I absolutely love her for pushing style boundaries and daring to experiment with runway looks. That is truly “fash-on”, as you say and even if she isn’t always successful, she tries to bring something new to the same-old, same-old Lagos red carpet.

Imagine the delight of spending a day shopping with her! (na she go dey buy, na me go dey observe, oh, I no get money for off-the-runway…)

    • AMY

      October 1, 2013 at 12:18 pm

The trench coat is a coat and not a dress. Fashion icon or not, a trench coat is still a coat. What was she thinking? And yes, that trench coat is not meant for our clime. Perhaps if it was made with cotton, it would just about pass. Being on the runway does not make it suitable for everyone. And we are free to say it was a poor choice. And when you talk of AC everywhere, where have you seen the designers of that coat “strut” it in summer? Don’t mistake an expensive piece for an appropriate piece

    • Bim

      October 1, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Bless you jare. In trying to sound sophisticated and posh like they are in the know and you are the illiterate one they don’t realise that they sound stupid in the process. Fashion Icon to who? Madame Nkiru. Hell freaking NO. She never gets it right but because her clothes are expensive, pretentious people make comments as if it should be acceptable because to them since we can’t afford it we should not have the right to criticise it. It is a trench coat Biko. Burberry that designed it designed it to be a coat. See the nonsense sheer top she wore underneath it. Dont even let me start on the weave. You can wear thousands of dollars in clothes and your hair looks like a witches broom. Phleaaaase. Fashion icon my foot. More like money miss road with no class in sight. Money should not buy you a pass from fashion criticism. She looks trashy.

PLEASE shut up. Can you not read? It clearly says the piece is from a SPRING/SUMMER COLLECTION. The men and women that wear suits 7 days a week from morning to work end haven’t died of heat, yet it’s a lady that wore a knee length piece at night that would convulse and pass out. DPMO!

      Our very own Isabella Blow!

    • Bim

      October 1, 2013 at 12:33 pm

Haute couture in whose society. Please don’t make me laugh. Isabella Blow nikan ko. You for kuku call her our own Grace Kelly. The woman does not have a sense of style. She only buys because she can afford it to impress. She never looks put together for one day. Is it the hair, or her makeup or her forever looking alert expression from either faulty plastic surgery or failed botox. Abeg let us hear word. If Toke wore that same coat the claws will come out but because it is Madame money bags it is suddenly haute couture. A trench coat in sunny climes, indoor for that matter. Money doesn’t buy tasteor class and Nkiru is the embodiment of that statement. She gets invitations because they want her to spend. No go believe that the oyinbo designers think she has a sense of fashion

The way Mo looks in that Givenchy dress negates every argument designers make about only using models who are white and size 0. She brought that dress to life. Gorgeous!
Nkiru must be warm but her hat is fun.
Bola’s suit looks a little sloppy as does Eku’s.
And while I like Elohors dress in theory, she can’t really pull off edgy and the shoes are a trendy but poor choice.

I honestly am fine with Nkiru pushing the envelope. You win some, you lose some. What I particularly do not get is her damn hair extensions. Biko, as you’re pushing the fashion envelope, also pay attention to your hair. A lady’s hair ‘maketh’ or ‘breaketh’ her entire look

First of all, NO sentiments atttached!!!
Elohor Aisien looks fabulous. The length of the dress is absolutely fabulous for the shoes. It is neither too short which would have been tacky or too long which would have been boring. Elohor looks absolutely chic!!!
Nkiru Anumudu is a style icon. Check your fashion dictionary and learn a few tips from Icons not just hoola ba loos like you guys. Anna Wintour once wore a lobster fur coat to a fashion show. These people are trend setters not followers so please shutup before one more WANNA BE-BROKE-ASS-I-KNOW-TOO MUCH-STYLIST comments! urgh!
Style is not about forcing it or bubbling by force because a few of you might have been fortunate to wear a few crap, speak stupid phonetics and appear on TV. Then you think you have an opinion, You have no write to make comments U KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT!!!

      October 2, 2013 at 2:58 pm

Coming from someone who types ” just hoola ba loos like you guys” and “You have no “write” to make comments U KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT!!” We will pass on the advice and take your opinion for the illiteracy that it is. Learn some English first dear. Don’t come back and say it was a typo because write and right are nowhere close to each other. Don’t let me start on hula ba loos. Get an education please and don’t use words to make yourself sound intelligent. By your spelling, you just exposed yourself. Worshipper of money. Lol

First of all. \_\_\_\_\ you are the one that knows? typing in caps? how very classless of you? What if Anna Wintour wore a lobster fur coat to a fashion show? who the heck is she? If these people dont want to be criticised for their style they should do us a favour and not grace the red carpet with their hideous garbs. Philip treacy my behind!

Oh i see! your website says bethmodelafrica. Are you Elohor or one of her girls? LMAO!

Fashionista wannabees oya una mentor is unleashing her creative style for you to emulate, pls don’t disappoint her. Lol. You can wear a basket with banga inside it and I assure you, you will be on point! As for wearing a trench coat to the event, people wey dey talk about AC house, car and event venue, shey AC dey for market too? Please do Google the word “trench coat” and find out what it’s used for! The Nigeria weather doesn’t require it no matter your justification! That was a fashion faux par ( hope I got the spelling right, lol). Fashion police, oya arrest her! Lol

Dear Agbani, no matter what, no matter who hails you, please add some weight…please!!

    • sexy mama

      November 8, 2013 at 4:02 pm

shatap edie……..since u cannot categorical say she made herself skinny then you have no right to diss her weight, na so God make her and she is a very beautiful woman….while the dress is fine it doesnt look good on her body type…am no hater cos i am not a failed miss world contestant…….
as for aunty nkiru while i dont see anything wrong with the shoe design which to me is very creative, a trench coat in Nigeria is a fashion fax paus…..i don’t care what any self acclaimed fashion expert says…..that it was a summer collection doesn’t make it right for our weather here……she for go launch am for her next trip abroad….

Firstly, Am i the only one who thinks Eku and Agbani look absolutely chic?
This Nkiru lady may have all the to-die-for stuff and loads of money but she never ever looks good or put-together. Rather, she always has hideous makeUp and her hair is always messy (not fashionably so)….
The Hat may be Avant-Garde but it doesnt mean it looks good on her.
I have a coat like that….so just so you know, i’m not jealous of her UnChic self….
