I hear you! Thats why you took the time to watch it from beginning to end. My dear, if you have nothing good to say then zip it! This girl shows that God uses what is considered weak and foolish to men to shame the strong. Thats why you are where you are and she is where she is!

But the lady went to school now. She has a degree. Heavily accented English is way different from bad grammar. Uche speaks with a heavy accent. There are several quality degree holders that do that as well. English language skills is not necessarily the mark of a well educated person. Some folks are blessed with an affinity for easy adoption of light accents and aren’t heavy tongued. For those like Uche who are not so blessed, their hard work should not be disregarded simply because someone somewhere values English speaking skills over any other skill.

Sorry but this one isnt accent problem , The bad grammar was something else . It was as if i was dodging bullets . Phew

My brother, I tire o! So because her English is accented she should not act or be in the limelight again? Look at Arnold Shwartzenegger with his heavily accented German that became not only an actor but the Governor of Califonia! Abeg, free Uche! Having Heavy accent is not a crime. She has not done too badly with her life.

Nice chat …I dont really like live chats/interviews but this is a peek into the real her…I love that she is not in doubt about who or where she comes from (no need for all the ‘fakeness’ going on with our celebs) I have no idea what people are going on about about a 1line mistake (she spoke and carried herself well in this interview ) I do wonder about the bush girl comment post lol nigerians I am sure u will know.what I see is a small town girl who made it and I thank God for her.I too was in aba for 5years growing up and I know the jombos funny enough they are (big) hotels&stockfish companies.in this video didnt reveal that which shows she is proud of making a name for her small self.I know urenna her cousin and think they are proud of her.

U guys keep saying stay in school, she did finish uni with a degree in mathematics and statistics (so lets just say shes highly analytical) so dont get twisted. She struggles with her grammar like 98% nigerians and nollywoodians. I have always said, how eloquent you are, depends on the nursery and primary you attended ,bcos by the time u enter secondary or university, the articulation and grammar has already been formed. Those who went to great international schools or lived in good neighborhood where most of the kids did, always pick up. Uche like omotola, chika ike, MonaLisa etc all have this CHALLENGE, Rita, Genny, kate, dakore etc do not. UCHE I feel for u sha, but I suggest u take maybe a year or two off and get some lessons to polish your grammar. Good luck, I look forward to watching your movies, ur scripts are always good, but not your acting

    • Hope

      October 3, 2013 at 5:31 pm

I beg to differ here, Omotola has a great command of English, forget about the “accent” she forms now, her natural accent is one of the best around

    • Winny

      October 3, 2013 at 10:51 pm

Great command of english kee, Omotola sounds like a 5th grader

Grammar! I understand she did the sciences, that means she can really cram talking about her parts in movies, where she speaks properly.

I smiled and frowned reading through the comments (one of my past times). Uche is talented and hardworking no doubt. As much as a lighter accent would endear her more to a large population of BN readers and movie watchers out there (outside her current fans), please, let’s focus more on her work and less on her accent and her personal life. We complain all the time about our over-hyped celebrity culture, but its the unnecessary focus on the things that do not matter that leads to that.

    October 3, 2013 at 6:39 pm

Love her, her hustle and her movies. I even LoVe how she speaks. Uche no need to lean how to speak fake nose English forming rubbish , you are a talented hard working woman who has fought to get to where you are today .dont let no give you speech issues because that what made you . I love you. Can’t wait to see unconditional

Nobody cares about her accent, Kate henshaw and Funke
Akindele have great typical nigerian accent. We are not talking
bouther accent, we are talking about her grammar and struggle to
deliver simple lines without saying “You know, You know, You know”.
Nobody is saying she should acquire some fake accent (matter of
fact i hate fake accents), but i will like her to deliver sentences
without looking like she is struggling to find simple words.
GRAMMAR is what we are talking bout – SIMPLE grammar – the the
struggle of MOST nollywood people as someone mentioned before..
Even the word nollywood i was shocked how she pronounced
    it.

You know this is a live show right? Lol at ‘will like her to deliver sentences without looking like she is struggling to find simple words’ maybe she has to find the words people won’t misunderstand / misquote since editing is out of the question. This is why celebrities should stay away from live shows I think but I love this chat

lovely interview uche, job well done! na wa for my people o, why oh why is it so hard for us to encourage and commend hard work or people that are honest and down to earth. uche expressed herself very well, did not rush to answer any question but took her time answered well, admitted her mistakes and short comings, acknowledge the industry and give credit to whom and what necessary, biko my people can you honestly search yourself and admit that you would be that down to earth knowing that loads of people would be watching (hubby and family included with positive and negative criticism). she did not down play education but exposed herself as a role model and encouraged the youth to appreciate the process of growth and make the best of it. sofia vergara of modern family is not eloquent in English but we smile when she speaks and want to watch more of her shows, and there are so many others like her. please please for the love of our selves and for our own lets embrace our own people. There is nothing wrong in criticism for that is how people/situations become better but little or no insults would go a long way.

Fake ass pips, coming up here and acting as tho English is your first language…With all the grammar you speak…nobody knows who you are…Its weird how Nigerians understand why a famous Italian actress or footballer can’t speak proper english but cant forgive Uches grammar. Yes her grammar is poor…but guess what; she has managed to make a name and a profession for herself..bad grammar or not. Why don’t you see her values, and discipline to work hard…not her bad grammar…
