I was going to say this. What brand is going to give 100million to an ambassador, especially in a country where it has been proved that celebrity endorsement mostly don’t result into sales, awareness and perception maybe, but not sales. I mean, what is the total marketing budget of the said brand, that it will shell out 100m for someone that will appear in a couple of brand events, TVC and radio commercials. And she is only endorsing one product: Easy flex, not the entire Etisalat product portfolio. Hian!
BN: Do not waste my comment, it took a lot to type. lol

      proven, not proved.

      January 23, 2014 at 11:41 am

Auto Princess you should have started your research by finding out the marketing budget for Etisalat. For your information, their budget is in billions of Naira. You really do not have an idea of what telecommunication companies and banks spend on marketing communications. If you and Njama are still in doubt I will tell you; her deal is N100 Million Naira, which is a drop in the ocean of their budget. Have a nice day.

@Kamal, I hear you, lol. You went round and round and you still could not tell me where it was confirmed that she got 100million. Telcos and banks may have urge marketing budgets but do you know the scope of what that budget is meant for? Signing on a model (or celebrities in this case) is just one of the minor things captured within the budget. Let me enlighten you, market research, production of pos/merchandising materials, development and execution of all advertising, pr, experiential campaigns, placement in media (which by the way takes the chunk of the budget), etc. Etisalat that could not pay the likes of Banky W and Saka well and they will give one person 100m? My dear, look beyond the hype!

    • Kamal

      January 23, 2014 at 2:54 pm

Auto Princess Saka was never an Etisalat Brand Ambassador. They only used him in adverts. Banky W’s contract was not renewed because Etisalat was not interested. I get my information from source because I am in the industry and it is my area. Genevieve’s deal is not for one year though. Little Miss En-lightener I suggest you do more research. And Endorsements are a huge chunk of the marketing budget. I don’t do hypes and illusions, I deal with reality and truth.

If it were a certain actress that we know of, the moment she was called up n offered the deal she would announce it on every major blog across the country with an accompanying article praising herself like she’s achieved something no human being can achieve.

I think the appropriate and sensible question to ask should be how many years does the contract cover and not just doubting senselessly?

If it is just a year, I follow doubt am because Etisalat does not strike me as a company that spends that huge on endorsement deals, yes they spend heavily on adverts, promos and stuff but on celebs? I doubt it.

Congrats to Genevieve. Biko, how do these companies quantify and access the impact celebs have on their brand (in facts and figures ni o) because I am yet to be influenced by any celeb to go for any product.

Women are the reason for their own downfall. All negatuve comments have come from women. You hate yourselves;because youknow yourselves best. But for God’s sake Banky was said to get 100m….no one taljed about budget. Now Genevieve and you start hating? Give her a break!

    January 23, 2014 at 4:57 pm

100 million ke. is she an ambassador to any country? is it not gsm line? these companies will hire ambassadors but improve network/services and pay your staff, mbanu. as if i’ll buy etisalat because geevieve is an ambassador, even if it’s marlon brando (rip), i won’t. unless this is ogatatthetoptinz. anyway she’s a hustler. congratulations whatever the amount is.

Such endorsement deals usually last a couple of years, therefore the contract may be for say three years which means she will be paid over that period, not all at once. The N100M is very possible. I used to work in the telecoms sector, you’d be shocked how much these artistes are paid! You sef go wan vex enter studio.

@ Bamzi all these people dey hussle for endorsments o! Trust me they don’t just relax and wait for the deals to fall in their laps.
    Congrats Genny.

Its a pity some people on this forum are not educated about endorsement deals and marketing budgets. That money is for real! Before you go gaga, google how much companies Nike, Adidas, Loreal etc pay Federer, Tiger, Nadal, Ronaldo, Jane Fonda and then you compare Genny and Etisalat deal and it will all make sense. Genny the best thing to come out of Nollywood.
