    \See Famzing!
    Na wa O!
Chiwetel only has a Nigerian name and nothing more.
Your country’s bad roads killed his dear father in a fatal crash and he will not forgive you.
Go and fix your roads before attempting to congratulate him.
If your state was so good why did his family seek greener pastures outside the shores of our dear country?
    Ndi ara!

Get up and Grow up and go start with electricity for homes first. trying to embrace one of your own ‘done good brother’ but shit on your poverty stricken brother’s right on your step back in Enugu. Thinking about it Sullivan Chime has substantially developed and regenerated Enugu, but for the rest and majority political figures one of theses days the masses will ruthlessly rise upon you and your offices of ungodly malpractices.

Claiming what we did not mould LOL this reminds me of that cousin that denies being related to you but as soon as you become President Goodluck, even your former neighbour will claim he is your brother. But this is not to say that I am not proud of Enugu state for what they did, I think other states should follow suit, he made us all proud but what would be nice is if NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT pulls up its socks and create the type of atmosphere that encourages growth and not one that motivates people to leave home in search for greener pastures because we as Nigerians are more than capable (if you know what I mean) and the burden of bettering Nigeria does not primarily rest on the shoulders of the common man but on those of the people elected into power. So, please, abeg, can the government for once (minus Lagos, Abuja and Calabar states) just do the job and help create a better naija as this is part of the job description, right? Right.

Na wa o, are the BAFTAS even that important. It’s like an MTV award comparing it self to a Grammy. No one really cares! an Oscar, oh yeah! we will celebrate that… Plus, the Brits have a lot of work to do on that show, it is so boring and extremely formal. the jokes were mediocre and their sense of humor weird. No wonder most American award shows are way popular, they are so lighthearted. I literally laughed through out the award show (Emmys the SAG was good too) hosted by Tina fey and her friend it was so much fun. Also looking forward to the Oscars as Ellen will be hosting. congrats are still in order to Chiwetel!

‎Why are people saying he doesn’t associate with Nigeria? The following is culled from a UK Guardian news and published online on Sunday 26 April 2009. The article is written by Gabby Wood and is titled “The star of Africa” I’d attach the link at the bottom.

“Ejiofor’s parents, who met as teenagers near the city of Enugu in south-eastern Nigeria, fled to London during the Biafran war in the late 60s. His father, like Okwe in Dirty Pretty Things, was a doctor; unlike Okwe, he was also a pop star, and performed his own songs with Ejiofor’s mother. In England, he retrained so that he could work as a doctor, and completed a PhD in biochemistry. Ejiofor’s mother found work as a pharmacist, and gave birth to four children: Chiwetel, his older brother, and two much younger sisters. They went back to Nigeria often, to visit grandparents and various other family members, and Ejiofor, who went as recently as last year, still thinks of it fondly.”

  48. ao

    February 19, 2014 at 2:39 am

Actually, Enugu City is actually pretty nice and the roads decent. While Chiwetel may or may not claim that he is a Nigerian, he cannot deny that he is Igbo. There is a difference between being a Nigerian and being Igbo, Efik, etc. I have not heard that he is denying his Igbo ancestry and that may be the basis upon which the Enugu government is congratulating him.

    • ao

      February 19, 2014 at 5:38 am

And a simple Google search will reveal that Chiwetel does claim he is Igbo. I have zero problems with him not claiming to be Nigerian, if that is in fact the case, but as long as he embraces being an Igbo, then that is all that matters on this issue. So those that so desperately want to remove him from his Igbo ancestry should hug a transformer quickly.

It’s funny how Nigerian govt is always quick to celebrate someone once he is successful but will do nothing to help people get there. I pray we find our way soon. Congrats to Chiwetel for winning this award. I’m sure it will be a major milestone for him!

  52. TheRealist

    February 19, 2014 at 11:08 am

Agreed that this is waste of public resources and the Chiwetel is British, but…

Those who claimed that he wants nothing to do with Nigeria have obviously never personally met him. Furthermore, there’s nothing mutually-exclusive about being Brit and Nigerian.

  53. Mehkism

    February 19, 2014 at 11:33 am

Abeg Ds guy claims his Igbo roots in almost all his interviews , reasons why it was emotional for him to play the role Odenigbo alongside Onyeka Onwenu in filming Half of the Yellow Sun , which took place Tinapa Studios in Calabar. But becos he is personally ” a low key no publicity person ” he went down to his village Oyofo Oye in Ezeagu L.G.A Enugu State. He has cousins in Enugu and London that are fully in touch with him.
So guys you allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll should shot d f’k up stop writing nonsense that he does not mingle wit Lagos entertainment crowd is not for you all to think that know him.
