Launch of Polo Avenue - BellaNaija - February2014055

On Sunday 9th February 2014, the subsidiary of Polo Limited, Polo Avenue launched in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the theme of the launch was celebrating “Love and Beauty“. Polo Avenue hosted its friends and guests like Folake Folafin-Coker, Lisa Folawiyo, D’BanjLanre DaSilva Ajayi, Bola Balogun, Joseph Benjamin, Mo Abudu, Veronica Ebie-Odeka, Agbani Darego, Nkiru Anumudu and others to an elegant affair.

Showcasing its leather goods, shoes, and fashion accessories from leading international luxury brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Balenciaga, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana among other brands the launch was indeed one of the highlights in Nigerian fashion.

Polo Limited’s Executive Director, Jennifer Obayuwana in a brief speech, stated “the launch of Polo Avenue’s flagship store is timely with the increasing demand of authentic luxury products by Nigerians – we get our products directly from the designers. Also, Polo Avenue will solve the problem of lack of easy access to seasonal products. Customers can now by luxury products immediately without having to travel abroad. Polo Avenue gets all the products the moment they are launched in Paris and Milan”.

Reason Why i like some of our celebs that have become red carpet whores ; they acknowledge that high octane classy events is a no go area. They recognise class when they see one. Lol, so make i no see comments of why your fav celeb aint in the pix. Mean while, all i see is nena okoye and freeze’s highly anticipated gold plated wristwatch (yimu) .

    • Donald-Landon

      February 13, 2014 at 12:36 pm

What sort of f*ckery comment is this in 2014. It’s always insecure and low self esteem people that go around labeling people, or a particular tribe or race ugly to make themselves better. If you are the bold enough you should have had your picture with your full name uploaded so people can see who you truly are; however, your insecurities won’t let you do that.

    my observations:
    1. ifeoma williams looks like a midget clown in that ensemble, you are too pretty for this nonsense outfit.
    2. elohor aisien is such a beautiful woman.
    3. tiwa savage you need to fix your faux baby hair/gel edges, eyebrows, make up, and that teeth.
    4. tokini peterside has a refreshingly youthful and naturally beautiful face without makeup
    5. agbani i know you were going for the “it’s my afro hair day” but your look is a disaster. you are still beautiful though, looking a bit ethiopian these days.
    6. i spot anselm tabansi jr. and he looks like his dad.
    7. terry waya has one of the worst outfits i have ever seen on any man
    8. i will check out this store, i see a few things i like
    9. bleaching takes a toll on the skin, just looking at a certain person’s legs *zipsmouth*
    10. leslie okoye looks like a –
    11. in all, this was a clean and refreshing red carpet, and i like some of the items on display.

    @Grrrrrrrrrtttttfg

i dont know your tribe though, i have the perfect answer for you.

While i was younger, a whiteman once told me some Africa ancestor can be linked to monkeys. He also said, the only way you can detect black people with monkey ancestors today is from the way they talk about other blacks or Africans. Generally how they speak about others.

Your comment just justified the whitemans bigotory and racist comment. you are worse than the worst of a white racist. your father must definately be a monkey.

What was ifeoma Williams thinking? Worst dressed by a mile. Agbani looks unkempt, terrible and drab. Where is elohor’s ring? Linda ikeji still on a shopping spree and she just had to pose with the shopping bag (Abi was she the only one who made a purchase?), very nice shop. Where’s that valentine?

  29. SaveNaija!

    February 13, 2014 at 7:16 pm

Nice event, beautiful people, mostly, but with some misses though. Jennifer’s dad, John appears to be a playful, liberal and supportive dad, unlike some of our dads in Naija who can be way too serious and unnecessarily stern . It’s so good to see this kind of playful dad. BTW, I’ve noticed my naija people like to hold their cell phones in their hands while taking pictures, why is that? It’s not an accessory people!

  30. Sheila

    February 13, 2014 at 8:40 pm

Absolutely appalled. Empty barrels make the most noise and thats how i describe naijas. So this store that they made so much noise about, this is the inside of the store and this is what you call a luxury retail store. My goodness. Go to Luanda Angola and see Luxury Retail stores, Go to South Africa Hyde Park Corner to see Luminance a retail store owned by Kanyi – A black woman. I was at the Luminance launch last year and to call Polo avenue retail store is laughable at best. This is a store housing luxury goods but not necessary a luxury retail store. And take more photos of the place more than you should the people. The event is not about the people its about the store, abi??? None the less i seen the images of the inside of the store – NOT IMPREsSED.

Somehow I think savenaija’s comment is still the most annoying to me. what’s with “dads in naija” “my naija people”. if they want to make their phones an accessory, ehen?! so?! Honestly i’m just tired of these Nigerians in the diaspora people! (it even sounds like a fraternity). i’m tired of them being so annoying with the type of things they say, its irritating. I don’t live in Nigeria, but i’m not a bloody Nigerian in any stupid diaspora, the ones who refer to themselves as that are the silly ones with their nose stuck up in the clouds, trust me they really think they are sitting right above the rest. *long hiss* i’m so irritated.
