Best Dressed Men
Chidi Mokeme

Chidi Mokeme - March 2014 - BellaNaija

Chidi Mokeme in GQ Wearhouse

Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme was definitely one of the best dressed men at the awards ceremony.

He took to the red carpet in a white tuxedo with a shawl lapel, a white dress shirt, a black polka dot bow tie, navy pocket square, black trousers, and a striking pair of white-and-black shoes all put together by his fashion retail company GQ Wearhouse.

It is not an outing for Chidi without his dark shades.

Uti Nwachukwu

Uti Nwachukwu in David Bowler

Uti Nwachukwu in David Bowler

Daring to be different, Uti Nwachukwu took a different approach but still maintained his dapper look in 2 suits.

The first was an Ankara blazer and matching trousers designed by David Bowler. He styled it with a white shirt, a red tie, and red shoes.

Uti Nwachukwu in Taryor Gabriels

Uti Nwachukwu in Taryor Gabriels

His next look which may raise a few eyebrows was a splendid delight to see on the red carpet…I mean who takes risks these days anymore.

The Nigerian media personality/actor selected a double breasted army green suit with wide peak lapels and matching trousers from one of his go-to-designers Adeyeye Adetayo of Taryor Gabriels.

A white shirt, a black bow tie, a black-and-white pocket square and black shoes, completed his look.

Which is your favourite?

Iyanya in Taryor Gabriels

It’s Iyanya. The Nigerian music star was one of the few musicians to grace the distinguished event.

BellaNaija Style certainly had our eyes on his look because it wasn’t the typical sartorial style. Iyanya selected a green velvet shirt with wide notch lapels by Taryor Gabriels, tartan trousers and brown shoes.

He accessorized with a black bow tie, and dark shades by Porsche P8478.

Mike Ezuruonye

Mike Ezuruonye

Mike Ezuruonye

As unbelievably as it seems, Mike Ezuruonye was present at the event on Saturday night.

The Nollywood actor rarely makes an appearance on the red carpet, so it was to much delight to see him. Although his wife wasn’t there with him, he turned a lot of heads in a red tuxedo, a white shirt, a black bow tie, black trousers and black shoes.

Are you feeling his spectacles – cool or geeky?

IK Ogbonna

IK Ogbonna in Taryor Gabriels

IK Ogbonna in Taryor Gabriels

IK Ogbonna‘s look could go for one torn out of the pages of a William Shakespeare novel.

He chose a black suit jacket and grey-and-black trousers by Taryor Gabriels, a white shirt, a black velvet bow tie, a red pocket square and black shoes.

He completed the look with a black taller top Edwardian-inspired hat and a walking stick.

 Osita Iheme

Osita Iheme

Osita Iheme

We just had to add Osita Iheme. Stepping away from the dapper-clad gents, his swag in this native made it a must see moment on the red carpet.

He completed the look with a black native cap and black shoes.

Julius Agwu

Julius Agwu

Julius Agwu

Julius Agwu may be a funny man but make no mistake, he takes his look on the red carpet seriously.

The comedian looked suave in a navy blue 3-piece tuxedo with wide notch lapels. He accessorized with a white shirt, a black velvet bow tie and black shoes.

Adeyemi Okanlawon

Adeyemi Okanlawon

Adeyemi Okanlawon

Rising actor Adeyemi Okanlawon was dapper in a black double-button tuxedo. He styled it with a white shirt, a black velvet bow tie and black shoes.

It is good to see an up-and-coming male actor bringing his style game.

Ohimai Atafo

Ohimai Atafo in Mai Atafo Inspired

Ohimai Atafo in Mai Atafo Inspired

A lot of men were spotted in Ohimai Atafo‘s suits but he takes the crown for pulling the best Mai Atafo Inspired look.

The Nigerian designer wore a brown brocade single button tuxedo, a white shirt, black trousers, a black velvet bow tie and black shoes. His black cummerbund completed his dapper look. Joining other men in glasses, he selected his signature pair.

Best Dressed Couple
IK & Olohi Osakioduwa

IK & Olohi Osakioduwa - - March 2014 - BellaNaija

IK in Mai Atafo Inspired & Olohi Osakioduwa

Move over Brangelina, the Osakioduwas know how to work matchy matchy couple style.

Co-host of the evening IK Osakioduwa arrived at the event in a blue Mai Atafo Inspired tuxedo with black lapels, black trousers and black shoes.

His wife Olohi showed off her sartorial edge as well in a red velvet jacket, black trousers and nude pumps.

Keep refreshing for all the absolute red carpet pix 😉

      March 10, 2014 at 9:41 pm

I concur . What I think they should have done was put out a list of criteria for judging best dressed for example Style, Hair, Quality of Tailoring , Makeup etc. Then throw it to the polls. pick a list based on the opinion polls. This is absolutely ridiculous. Uti second out fit was a mess the stiches on the helm when zoomed is appalling as if it was not pressed after sewing

What is wrong with Ankara? I have lived abroad for almost 14 years and I appreciate our African culture now more than ever. If anything I think they did not wear enough African attires. People love Naija! God allowed us to be born as Nigerians for a reason.

    March 10, 2014 at 7:28 pm

I don’t get how in this times we are now, our celebrities can still afford to look like how celebrities in other parts of the world did 2 years ago. Very outdated looks going on. Clearly, the only women who deserve an honourable mention are Agbani, Osas, Ugonna, Rita, and Eku. Genevieve is always a walking fashion disaster. Hot mess. And Joselyn Dumas has the bridal look going on. Lawd have mercy. And don’t even get me started on Ik and his wife trying to pull off Angelina and Bradd at the BAFTAs..very dirty copycatism. And I still think some better looks are not on this list,.

    • Tolu

      March 10, 2014 at 7:51 pm

Madam, there’s no need to take it that personally. Life is not that hard. Anyone that knows Ik’s wife knows that she’s a tomboy and she planned her outfit since Music Meets Runaway. And if you heard anything about that show, you’d have known that Mai Atafo made a collection of tuxes for women. That’s why he made her one. That show was done in December, wayyyyy before the baftas. And plus so because somebody wore something means no one else can? Please stop wearing clothes and start to wear raffia. ( even that one sef, cave people don wear tire so you fit go around naked).

    • KingsQueen

      March 10, 2014 at 9:51 pm

I like Uti and paw becos they dress up in African material. When American go for for red carpet they don’t wear African clothes, so why can’t we wear our too.

Agbani looks ravishinh, too gorgeous. Rita, looks fabulous. Most of the women look good. We are always comparing to the west, most of Hollywood fashion is So Nollywood is doing a great job. Genny, never in ur life wear that rag again.

    March 11, 2014 at 9:09 am

I’ll give the best dressed female to Osas, and best male to Adeyemi. It is only a shame that this is an African event, and the fashion speak and show very little of our heritage. We have very good Nigerian designers that would have brought more color and authenticity into this event. But sadly they opted for the western look. I applaud Uti’s Ankara suit… It can represent Africa anywhere in the world.

    March 11, 2014 at 9:13 am

    AGBANI DAREGO hands down!!!!

  74. Chizzy

    March 11, 2014 at 9:30 am

Pls, this list is rubbish! I’ll go with agbani as the 1 best dressed then other are Rita cos her hair looked gorg but don’t like the fabric of her dress, same goes to monalisa, she looked beautiful but she would hv bn bested dressed if the dress was made in another fabric, tonye, Kate, gbemiand ufuoma. All the guys did good but uti and Ik tho??? Pls this is not an international event that you need to showcase your culture(uti, Osita and Ramsey)

    March 11, 2014 at 10:18 am

Na wa oh. Joselyn is a very well endowed African see those hips mehn. She looks ravishing. Rita also looks so elegant in that beautiful red. Osas a ray of sunshine, she doesn’t even have to try. Uti dey carry last for this overload of print. Not feeling the look.

    March 11, 2014 at 12:33 pm

BN this your list is not objective and credible . Why should u pik Gbemi and leave out Kate. What about dt Shirley chic dt cleared all the awards. There were a lot of ppl @ d event who were better dressed than some ppl on ds list. Very disappointing. #Post my comment o

Sure IK and his beau got inspired by “Pharell and wife”s style at the Oscars. Love Genevieve in JBL, that piece is simply beautiful and suits her well.

nigerian red carpets are usually a disaster. red carpet looks should be impeccable, clean, and immaculate. i won’t go in on individuals because overall as a collective group no one has their shit together.

  84. Ima

    March 11, 2014 at 3:48 pm

BN your best dressed list are not totally best dressed, was the list done because of their popularity or what? Also, what of the list for worst dressed celebrity? Once we have best dressed, there should be worst dressed also. We need people like “Fashion Police” that can really spell out the truth about people’s fashion not minding who they are. Just sincerity.

    March 13, 2014 at 5:43 pm

This list isn’t bad! Majority of them look great! However, can we all for a second get our heads outs Genny’s ass and be honest here (at least I am). I understand she’s the best, she’s gorgrous, this and that…but she does NOT deserve to be on this list. Her outfit was TERRIBLE! I’ve seen her dress better! I love her a lot which is why this was a let down for me! 🙁

    March 18, 2014 at 1:01 am

I am really beginning to question a lot of Nigerians and their fashion sense, or is it just hating? Genevieve did look stunning, if a bit understated, but chic nevertheless! Jewel by Lisa is a dream come true she must be proud of this outfit.

    March 23, 2014 at 7:41 am

Genny dress is fashion forward. People with small fashion mind would never ever understand it. To y’all calling her dress a mess. Try to research more on fashion and style. Mschewwwww
