DKNY Ramadan Collection Lookbook & Campaign - BellaNaija - June2014009

Saturday 28th June 2014 officially launched the month of Ramadan and we are loving the fashionable approach Muslims from all over are taking to the daily fasting period. A few days ago BN Style contributor Fatimah Gimsay unveiled 6 Muslimah bloggers you’ll love, and now DKNY (Donna Karan New York) is giving Muslimahs a great & fashionable treat!

The fashion brand, which recently launched a Middle East website and several stores in the region, is targeting the Muslim demographic further by launching its inaugural Ramadan Collection and campaign. This is the brand’s first regionalized campaign.

The collection is filled with conservative but Summer-appropriate pieces including pants, blouses, dresses and skirts with catchy prints and colors. The collection’s pieces aren’t the only eye-catching aspect, as the campaign also features popular Middle Eastern fashion personalities such as Yalda Golsharifi (a Fashion Editor based in Los Angeles, Kuwait & Iran | @ygolsharifi on Instagram) and Tamara al Gabbani (a Designer and TV Personality based in Dubai | @tamaraalgabbani on Instagram).

Almost every brand is expanding their operations to the Middle East now, and we know with our Nigerian fashionistas loving Dubai and Abu Dhabi, these pieces are sure to be on our radar soon.

Its so appalling to see Muslims liking and loving this. How will muslimahs wait for DKNY to teach you how to dress when your Lord has fully described that for you in the Quran.

Thant being said, I am not against Muslimah’s blogging or showing their talent but that last post about Muslimah bloggers was a total crap as it centred greatly around fashion. Please dont show me someone who has layers and piles of make up on and smiling to the camera all in a struggle to be labelled ‘hip’. You dont need validation to be a muslimah, All u need is a brain and making impact on the community.

its up to you to wear the veils! babe, ur husband deserves a nice and hot looking wife even at home, be open minded and spice things up for ur marriage or even for urself. where an abaya over it when going out. majority of women do that

    July 3, 2014 at 1:22 pm

guys its an effort! even an abaya can be worn without a head piece, and the person that wears it chooses to. IT IS AN EFFORT!! Even if u go to take a dump in the loo, u need to push that mother f******* out. thats called an effort too! so u can dress it up to cover ur body, it is a beautiful collection

Love the collection!!! I honestly don’t understand some of these negative comments. Muslims embracing the collection has no correlation with us seeking external validation. A lot of us want to be modest but remain stylish and some Muslim clothing stores miss the mark with their modest but matronly clothes. I hope more brands roll out collections targeting the Muslim demographic and have low shipping rates to the US (lol).

Oh please! Let’s not be uptight, this is why most young girls don’t cover up or lead the life of the Hijabi, we believe it’s when your hijab sweeps the floor, but that’s not true. You can follow the teachings of Islam, look young and fresh and modest. Follow muslimah bloggers, and yes the fashion muslim bloggers and believe me, you will forever appreciate the Hijab! Ma sha Allah, the hijab is a beautiful thing, doesn’t need to be drab. This collection, very nice, thank God for sleeves and long tights, the right colour of hijab, Puuurrffect!

The dress of the Muslim woman when leaving her home is a drape from the top of her head down to her feet. It should not show any skin nor the shape of her body.

Almost every online Islamic store has released Eid’s collection. It is a beautiful collection. But I personally loved the collection of EastEssence. They are stylish yet modest and fulfils all the rules and regulations mentioned in Islam.
