Ebola: Bill & Melinda Gates to Donate $50 Million to West Africa

Bill Gates Visits Downing Street

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is donating $50 million (about N8 billion) to West Africa to assist in the fight against Ebola.

The foundation will be making the donation via the United Nations and other international organizations working to stop the outbreak, International Business Times reports. A part of the funds will also go towards funding medical firms that are researching treatments, technologies, and vaccines for the disease.

Sue Desmond-Hellmann, CEO of the Gates Foundation spoke about the donation, stating, “we are working urgently with our partners to identify the most effective ways to help them save lives now and stop transmission of this deadly disease. We also want to accelerate the development of treatments, vaccines and diagnostics that can help end this epidemic and prevent future outbreaks.”

I wish i ‘ve really good way of replying her illiterate post which made Nigeria’s celebrities look cheap. The last time i checked uncle Bill gate has no African blood running in him, he believed in what Alicia keys believe in her new Sony ” WHY ARE WE HERE OR WE ARE HERE. Thank you sir, you and your generations will not lack.

They did not say he is donating it to Africa, they said he is donating to the United Nations and other International Organizations, who in collaboration with the US and Liberia ‘(which is a former US Colony’) helped to spread this disease in Africa. So he is financing their research in treatments, then our government will pay for the drugs. My point is that he is not helping Africa, he is helping the UN, that’s two different entities. So the aid wont reach here. UN’s HQ is in the US, most of it will be spent in the US to make drugs, we’ll buy with our money. In summary his aid is not to Africa. Read the book billion Dollar Race to understand what I am saying in detail.

  25. May God Forgive me!

    Tnx for the explanation.
