GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2014 – Day 1: Weiz Dhurm Franklyn

Weiz-Dhurm-Franklyn-GTBank-LFDW-October2014-BellaNaija012We were eagerly looking forward to Weiz Dhurm Franklyn‘s collection for the 2014 GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week and we have to say that we were not disappointed.

Weiz Dhurm Franklyn is one fashion brand that knows how to spin a collection around a central theme and this year his Spring 2015 collection is all about the classic whites. ‘Little White Dresses’ as well dresses ideal for more edgy looks were a part of his refreshing collection.

This collection certainly stood out because of the attention to detail and its quirkiness.

Check out the collection below!

very junior. the designer is still discovering who he is as a designer.

The pieces are wearable and they still have an edge. I don’t see what is “junior” about the collection. There is a clear theme so I don’t see how the designer is just discovering himself. Making halloween references for a RUNWAY show. Go and see what McQueen did for their SS15 show and leave your ignorance behind. This is what is drawing our industry back.

Bruno is an underdog. He knows exactly what to say, and when to say it, to get all of you all fired up. Quit making him relevant by acknowledging his comments.
    Ignore him!

Finishing…. It’s very important . Our designers need to take note. They fail in that aspect

Hmmmmmm… I do like that he played about with his pieces and gave an interesting take on the “little white dress”.

Seems like the kind of collection that CLAN would have put on – i.e. the runway revelations of a designer on his/her path to self-discovery – and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Excuse you, what?? Please, please, it’s an insult to associate CLAN with a collection like this.

Btw, I agree with Bruno. The designer is still discovering himself. The collection didn’t connect as a whole and his embellishments looked cheap (I was there, I saw it live). That said, I like the fact that he tries to bring something edgy and different to the runway. But he needs time, to build his knowledge on fashion elements and properly discover himself

      October 31, 2014 at 11:14 am

and why shouldn’t we compare these to CLAN? whats the insult? Weiz Franklyn pieces are way more creative than CLAN.

But Bruno is right nah,you guys should chill,eh?The pieces are obviously not well tailored and there’s no defined aesthetic here. But of course he is still new in the game and has a lot of time to learn the ropes if he wants to compete globally or som’n.

i commend the effort, putting out a collection is not so easy.

  18. on the fence

    October 31, 2014 at 12:27 am

    central theme of what though?

Some are nice clothes, others are “…..”. Using similar fabrics on a few pieces doesn’t guarantee an overall cohesive collection. A collection should tell a story without being repetitive. I don’t think this is Weiz Dhurm’s best.
