Lupita Nyong’o Gushes about Meeting Asa and Getting Her New Album
Hollywood’s ‘It’ girl Lupita Nyong’o has been off the radar for a while but the Kenyan actress is definitely still attending events.
The 31-year-old actress attended the Sindika Dokolo Art Foundation dinner at London’s Cafe Royal last night and she took to her Instagram page to gush about meeting Nigerian artiste Asa, who Lupita called one of her favourite artistes.
She shared a picture of the two of them together and commented, “Not only did I meet one of my favourite artists tonight, but I also learned she has a new album!!! #Asa #BedOfStone #EarsTinglingWithAnticipation”.
Asa shared the same picture on her page and commented, “Last night I met this beautiful lady. I love and admire you @lupitanyongo #inspired “No matter where you are from, your dreamers are valid”
So apart from being a fashion slayer, Lupita also has good ears for music.
How can we not love her?

2face’s album is actually poor and i don’t think he deserves to be on the same league with those listed

@Pat Amibor are they talking about her place of birth or where she’s from?

But the article never said anything about where she was born now?
And, she is Kenyan in every way- Kenyan parents and doesn’t deny her Kenyan roots! Not saying she’s not also Mexican.

The article was later corrected. It was written “the Kenyan born actress”

Ask her where she’s from. She’ll tell you Kenya. Please get off freaking wikipedia that calls her Mexican and listen to her to hear what she calls herself. Lots of Nigerians were born outside of Nigeria and they are Nigerian.

Asa is a brilliant artist. Underrated but brilliant nonetheless.

I don’t think she is underrated, her genre is not as commercial, it’s quality not quantity. Underrated is Darey, dude has been there since 12 chords, I remember attending jazzville in 1997 or 8 and they were booed off the stage because they sounded so foreign, though they were 60% foreigners. That was when I knew him, he was so different and nice but still wasn’t so accepted.

Darey is amazing. I’m still trying to get his Undareyted album, after all these years 😉
Asa is of course amazing too.
To be honest, Nigeria is just so overblessed with musical goodness right now, we almost have a problem. Export export!
