An anti-rape video campaign in Hungary has sparked outrage in the country because of its messages – both implied and overt – that young women who are flirtatious cause themselves to become rape victims.

The campaign was launched by Hungarian police authorities in Baranya County as part of efforts to raise awareness about rape, CNN reports.

The video campaign titled, “Selfie Klip” shows young women having fun at a club, and dancing flirtatiously with men. At the end of the video one of the women is shown being approached by a hooded man outside a nightclub. The woman is then shown lying on the ground after apparently being assaulted.

A statement posted alongside the video reads “experience has shown that, in order to prevent such acts (of violence), how women communicate … plays a huge role. The flirtation of young girls can often trigger violence.”

Multiple Hungarian advocacy groups have expressed their displeasure about the video, stating that the campaign blames women for sexual violence.

“(The video) scares and humiliates the victims and exonerates the perpetrators to go unpunished… These kind of films evoke misogyny and contempt for women,” some of the groups said in a joint statement.

Here’s the CNN report about the video:

Men should learn for once take responsibility for their actions , when they actually rape someone.stop blaming indecent dressing as they call it , which does not make sense to me though and flaiting by women.what about those who were ambushed or got rape in another manner.i find it quite disappointing that in even in this modern times civilized society are using this method to fight rape, indirectly blaming women for the crime.

this reminded me of robin thinke’s blurred lines.
    I know you want it
    I know you want it

NO I DONT WANT IT!!! pls stop it. no sane person wants to be raped.

some men believe women want it and they just need a little persuasion and thats why they start forcing themselves on the woman.

dear men, if women want it, they will tell u. dont say u thought she was giving u signs thats why u decided to force ur self on her.

There’s no justification for rape. A woman has a right to say no even if she is dancing naked in front of a man. But pls ladies, let’s protect ourselves too. As we well know, we live in a wicked world where many men are dogs and they have people (sadly, fellow women) who would also support them and blame a woman for being raped. It’s not wrong to take necessary precautions such as avoid being alone with a guy u have no intention of sleeping with, or avoid flirting with someone u have no romantic feelings for. Also, protect your children and give them smart counsel so they don’t fall into the traps of ‘uncles’ who would sexually assault them.
