The Woman Rising 2015, held to celebrate International Women’s day by inspiring and influencing women through a series of event, was a chance for successful hard working women to connect and network.

The two day event – held on Saturday, the 21st of March 2015 and Sunday, the 22nd of March 2015 – was hosted by Kemi Lala Akindoju and Aderonke Adebanjo.

The first part of the 2015 Woman Rising was held at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi and had strong and admirable women in attendance.  At the event Obiageli Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education, gave an amazing speech on how women can make a change in our world by not settling for what people think we should be.

March 25, 2015 at 11:00 pm, I see these pictures and the first thing that comes to my mind is Chimamanda’s word “We teach girls to shrink themselves. To make themselves smaller. We say to girls,You can have ambition but not too much” These beautiful ladies have defiled the odds against them!.
