US Based Doctor Calls for Mass Slaughter of Igbos in Lagos | Nearly 5,000 Have Signed Petition Against Him

Adeniran Abraham Ariyo - 3A Dallas, Texas, US based cardiologist, Adeniran Abraham Ariyo, allegedly called for the slaughter of Igbo people in Lagos, akin to the xenophobic attacks currently going on in South Africa.

According to the petition filed against him, he said the following on his Facebook page.Adeniran Abraham Ariyo (3)

You will recall that earlier this month Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, made some tribalistic remarks and threatened the lives of Igbo leaders in Lagos.

Adeniran Abraham Ariyo (2)BN has been unable to track him on social media, but we can substantiate that he is indeed a Doctor in Dallas. Photos of his Christmas family portrait have also been floating online, most likely from his Facebook account. According to various media outlets, he has deleted all his photos and Facebook profile, and has gone into hiding.

A petition has been filed against him, asking the Texas medical board to investigate him and for his medical license to be revoked. The petition, started by Nigeria Moment, states:

This is important because the massacre or extermination of any ethnic group is against UN law and of course the laws of United States. No ethnic group should ever have to be massacred due to hate for any reason whatsoever since there are legally accepted ways of dealing and settling differences. The world can not allow this to happen.”

Bellanaija pls don’t forget to do an article on Radio Biafra where they call for the killing of Yorubas and Hausas. The problem is far reaching and goes beyond this one man. We must get to the root of why the tribes hate each other

      April 22, 2015 at 5:20 pm

This is the problem with us, what is Radio Biafra and who are they? Never heard of them. They are an illegal radio station that could very well have been started by someone from another tribe to provoke others against the Ibos! This case on the other had is a so-called medical Dr. who by the way, I’m not sure he is as his english leaves a lot to be desired who is making provocative statements about genocide of a group and heating up the polity. That my friend is the difference!

@Chi, Abeg don’t try and lie. Radio Biafra is well known and the personalities saying those things about killing other tribes are clearly Igbo people. Some of them are well known sef. There is even a Biafra page if Facebook with Igbo people saying terrible things about other tribes everyday. Are those pretending to be Igbo too?

All Nigerian tribes have tribalistic elements, it’s a national problem and no tribe is innocent. Let’s address the whole issue

I’m confused, this man is not in Public office. He holds no position and most definitely doesn’t speak for anyone, but himself. So why are his rants posted on here as news. Will Bellanaija also post rants from the various users on their site and other sites as news.

This post achieves nothing, but stir up further unrest. All those in the media have the responsibility of using discretion when necessary. To post such a salacious, Facebook comment, without posting those with a similar bent from other tribes/groups within Nigeria is not right.

      my 2 cents.

We recall how the Oba of Lagos threatened the Igbos in Lagos with death if they did not do his bidding. HE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY HUMBLED AND THE PALACE HAD TO SCAMPER to release a long statement read by his chiefs, to assuage Ndigbo! Thereafter, his reputation has been tainted as a VERY LOW QUALITY [CRUDE] King with ‘airs’ and ‘graces’ more akin to a bus conductor than a monarch [we all watched his violent display on youtube] – an embarrassment to the Nigerian monarchical institution!

Now this lunatic, who also happens to be a ‘YORUBA’ Doctor in the ‘UNITED STATES’ is threatening IGBOS in LAGOS with his violent declaration! It will be a MIRACLE if he is able to retain his job after this [I know for a fact that essential health services in civilized societies are particular about the state of mind of persons who hold such sensitive positions as medical practitioners.

Igbos arrogance is and will be their downfall. This doctor is clearly out of his mind, and should be condemned. Good that his license is revoked. However, why do Igbos constantly deny any wrong on their part and justify their negative behavior against yorubas. When they get called out, they deviate. So, it’s okay for Igbos to say or behave wrong but not the other way around? No, it’s unacceptable. You dismiss a fact, and went on play the usual “victimization” card which Igbos are notorious for. Never want to be accountable for anything. Igbos want to just dominate arrogantly with no respect or appreciation. They want to dominate Lagos, claim and have entitlement to Lagos(a yorubaland), behave anyhow but want the natives to just remain quiet.. Take that stupid arrogance, superior attitude back to your villages. Not in another person’s land, definitely not a yorubaland.

    • Benjamin Osawe

      April 24, 2015 at 2:37 am

Ade you are racist pure and simple. The same Yoruba doctor lives in another man’s country(USA) with all the rights and privileges. He can even become the governor of that state. The same man wants Igbos denied citizenship rights in Lagos and even supports the way Igbo’s are being attacked in south Africa. He and anyone defending him are hypocrites and evil people trying to justify genocide a second time. The civil war was a genocide, committed against the Igbo’s by the Southwest and Northern elements of the Nigerian army. Now you are saying Igbos should go, when they offered to go the northern and southwest elements of the army with the active help of certain western countries formed a blockade and carried out an ethnic cleansing against the Igbos called civil war. This blockade made it impossible for the Igbo’s from 1966 to 1970 to be able to defend themselves, hence they were slaughtered like cows. Over 5 million defenseless people died mostly civilians. The southwest and Northern Nigerian elements that think because of the loss of the civil war Igbo’s are not humans and deserve to be treated like animals should remember that God rules in the affairs of men. Also Igbos are nobodies slaves, they can vote who they like period in their own country, The Oba of Lagos is an emigrant in Lagos too from Benin in the Midwest originally, and so many Lagos Islanders being originally from other places like Jakande was from Kwara originally.

    • Her Duchessness

      April 22, 2015 at 6:58 pm

This man should just shut his mouth. Why is he talking like a lunatic? The Oba of Lagos never desired to kill the igbos. he just wanted Ambode to win. Simple. This biased Doctor should not leverage on the Oba’s act and wish for the death of Igbos. What is he doing over there? The same way igbos have left their home towns to lagos is the same way he left nigeria and went to the US as well. He should be the least person calling for the mass slaughter of igbos. If someone should be slaughtered, it should be him for being in a foreign land. If only he will see that what he’s calling for is tantamount to him being slaughtered in the US. He should just shut up and utter a simple prayer for the South Africans that are committing this attack to have a change of heart and stop this foolish act.

    • Benjamin Osawe

      April 24, 2015 at 2:49 am

Her Duchessness it is either you are trying to minimize the severity of the actions taken by the Oba of Lagos concerning the Igbo’s or you are plain naïve. What the Oba did is called intimidation with threat of violence and bodily harm against a group of people in a democracy. Coming from a royal father like that is tantamount to calling for genocide is a criminal offence he should have known better since he is a retired policeman. If he sees the Igbo as humans he should have appealed to them than threaten them in their own country. The Zulu King never desired to kill anybody when he made those careless statements, but what is the result now people are dead. Nkon ti oda oda, Eje ka so oto oro fun kabiyesi.

Is he really a medical doctor? I have a friend from that part of naija who took pics in white overall and posted same on facebook. He is also in Texas, cleaning toilets for a company I visit regularly. He doesn’t sound like a medical doctor to me,probably uneducated and frustrated at his inability to match the meteoric progress of Ndigbo wordwide

The so-called medical doctor is a hypocrite. He doesn’t like Igbos living in Lagos and enjoying the opportunities there and yet, he is living in someone else’s land enjoying the opportunities that the host country has afforded him. What a joke!

Still waiting for them to come with lorries and evacuate all igbos in Lagos to the east. Still waiting for them to miraculously relocate the houses and offices we’ve bought, built to the east. Still waiting for them to unsit us from our current office positions. Or maybe they’ll shamelessly come and kill our kids who were born here and have yoruba friends. You guys lost the battle before it even started. I am a Nigerian and I will settle wherever I want. As a tribe, you yorubas should have more essence than to just bad mouth igbos. Our skin are thick! Take action my yoruba people. We are waiting

I can’t believe this guy is a doctor, a cardiologist for that matter. I read somewhere that this guy studied at John Hopkins. With the level of his exposure, he still goes this low. He should be investigated by the medical board or association. Who knows how many Igbo patients he might have killed with this deep rooted hatred of his.

      April 22, 2015 at 3:48 pm

All these recent situations should be a wake-up call for Igbos:
the Oba of Lagos, now this doc, all say out LOUD what many think of you.
You are a threat to many out there.
IGBOS, go home and build your land!!!!
You give your best by helping others develop their lands,
and when the people get tired of you, they chase u out.
I pity all these igbos having properties and business outside Igboland, but none in the East.
When things will get rough, will u carry your business and properties on your head???
That is how the jews thought Hitler was joking when he promised to wipe them out.
We know the rest of the story….
The problem with Igbos is that they’let sentiments cloud their sense of strategy.

Really. This statement is ludicrous but I don’t think he is literarily calling for slaughter. There is a difference between allegedly calling for slaughter and saying what happened in ‘so so so’ will happen to you. We all know Igbo’s are very industrious and hardworking. Don’t know why people worry themselves about statements made by lunatics. Please just ignore the doctor. Carry go Igbos, let no one’s blood go red hot due to this statement.. It’s been an issue for ages. When some Nigerians insult Niger indigenes who beg on the streets or when some other tribes insult the Hausa’s you’ll shed hot tears for them. Yorubas are also not safe in some states in Nigeria. Hatred, tribalism and racism are everywhere. Dark and fair; tall or short; pretty or ugly; fat or slim; man or woman are all global issue. I take cover under the shadow of the Almighty and won’t bat an eyelid over this statement. Thanks for the platform. Got to get back to work. Too busy to continue.

As you said that Igbos should go. Mind you, when you say Igbo, it includes people from South South. Hence, if we are going, we are going with our oil. The oil in Igboland belongs to every Nigerian, but Igbos are regarded as strangers in their country. I don’t understand. Someone should explain to me please.

@Riff Raff. Your name says a lot. Clearly you have never been to the East. So take a \___. Before you call on Igbos to develop their land, I suggest you travel East first and see what Igbos have done without having held real political power in Nigeria and having been dispossessed of their properties including money in bank accounts. The East needs no more or less development than the rest of Nigeria. The way some of you talk you would think the rest of Nigeria minus the East is so developed. Give it a rest. Nigeria needs development in every corner.

Oh boy true talk. Yoruba are this and that and dadadadadada. Igbo agenda going forward lobby the center to resolve the Igbo problem by massively developing the Onitcha inland port, making owerri airport an International cargo airport, Enugu airport an international airport. Train system properly harnessed to connect all eastern states and improve ease of moving goods. Igbo importers that go all over china to buy buy buy goods should start building factories in the heart of igboland. Like Riff Raff said enough is enough for the wise.

      April 22, 2015 at 4:54 pm

Education doesn’t change one’s mindset about hatred, It actually propels it sometimes. Success and power makes you feel more superior and untouchable. It’s like saying whites should change their mindset about racism or the way they perceive, treat blacks bcos of their level of power. It’s a mindset thing, that has nothing to do with your level of achievement. People should treat others as another human being like them.

This Yoruba vs Igbo is a deep rooted issue. And, this doctor is very wrong but let’s not pretend Igbos haven’t incited such, it’s both ways. And let’s not act like Igbo people are so innocent and victimized, it’s time to address the real issue.

Sorry dear, nobody is going to revoke his licence over these comments. American are not as shallow minded as you lot. He did not call the slaughter of ibos, but he only presumed that what happened in South African may happened in Lagos. Whosoever wrote this only distorted the man’s statement, This is bad journalism of the highest order.

    • TO DELEY

      April 24, 2015 at 5:44 am

He did not presume. He said and I quote: “You see how they are being slaughtered in South Africa, THAT’S WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THEM IN LAGOS”.

THAT MY DEAR DELEY IS A DECLARATION! Thus, he may be indicted for crime against humanity! The only thing that will save him is if he did not actually say these things as reported.

You talk about shallow thinking — dare I tell you that it the stuff of LOW IQ if you actually think any CIVILIZED SOCIETY will retain the services of people like the [now unfortunate SELF-CURSED] doctor, particularly in such a sensitive vocation as medicine, where people’s lives are in their hands!

That he may lose his job is not the issue here; the main issue is that it will be a miracle if he is not indicted, because US as well as UK have very serious hate crime laws that they are keen to enforce!

Can anyone confirm that Dr Ariyo’s license has been revoked. We all have to be careful what we say and how we say it For those who are also contributing, this applies as well. Don’t make the mistake he made. If you are not sure about the revocation of the license then don’t say it because Dr Ariyo can make a case out that fact, I choose not to mention the kind of case specifically before people misunderstand my point. Secondly, if you issue threats that’s another case. We have seen situation where the defendant became the plaintiff. Be careful what you say. All Dr Ariyo needs is a smart lawyer.

It’s jealousy. Everyone is jealous of them because they are the most successful. They are the most intelligent. The most industrious. The most beautiful. They make the best husbands and wives. They are the richest. In short everything good in Nigeria is Igbo. And they make sure you know. They also dominate. They are like the Jews. Wherever they reside they dominate. Which is why people are jealous of them. Without Igbos, Nigeria is just a shell with nothing in it. That’s why.
By the way, this doctor just signed his deportation papers. What an idiot.

@Neutral Somebody, you just showed the real problem. The arrogance and chest beating is irritating . All tribes are everything you listed, no one likes arrogant ,loudmouths and please don’t say Igbos don’t say terrible things about Hausas and Yorubas too. Stop acting the victim, most Nigerians are guilty of tribalism , it’s just a matter if how extreme

      April 22, 2015 at 4:27 pm

So much for being ‘Neutral Somebody’.
It is the same mentalility that white people use to oppress the black people; the mentality that a group of people is superior to another.
How can you actually say that without Igbos Nigeria is an empty shell?
We actually have a very long way to go in Nigeria.

    • ghabriellah

      April 22, 2015 at 4:54 pm

I am an Igbo lady and your statement is not neutral @Neutral Somebody. That is the problem which breeds tribalism. We are all good people. We are all bad people. We are we and we are one. People should not be judged by what they acquired at birth. They should not be judged by what they did not struggle to get, by what was thrust upon them by virtue of their being. People should be judged individually by their accomplishments. And if you have personal sentiments bordering on a particular tribe, language or region being good at something, they should be in the quiet of your heart as you just might be breeding war.

    • Peaches77

      April 22, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Now this is the kind of statement that is not necessary. I understand this position may be born out of history and the general picking on the igbos since independence. However this kind of statement helps no one. How did you even come up with this? Do you have any stats backing it up? I am sure not. So please refrain from making statements like this. It has no meAning and helps no one.

It is a statement of fact that the
AND ABOVE ALL, DR NNAMDI AZIKIWE HANDED YOUR COLONIZED ASSES BACK TO YOU ON A GLORIOUS INDEPENDENCE PLATTER when Herbert Macaulay became conservative before the job of emancipation was completed [know your history – research and confirm]

      To mention a few

All these go without saying… Yes, Nigerians have fine qualities, but it is one group that stands out above the rest, and that is why some individuals hate Ndigbo so much*

Ndigbo do not hate anyone – Ndigbo are only interested in doing well – and Ndigbo love competition, and are the first to say that there is room for EVERYONE – BUT YOU MUST NOT BE LAZY – YOU MUST PULL YOUR WEIGHT – AND YOU MUST APPLY WISDOM – full stop***

As for the doctor, I understand he has been suspended by their medical board… [it is very unfortunate, and while all this furore is going on, HE WILL BE LOSING MONEY! Foolish foolish man indeed]

You said: “P.S wealthy, smart, powerful people don’t say it, it speaks for itself”

You are right, but you are missing the point of that statement – it only applies to individuals.

      For example, the
THE BRITISH EMPIRE [‘where the sun never sets’, as they boasted]
      and so on…

So it not unusual that the IGBO NATION should be very proud of itself and say it out … IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THAT IS THE WAY OF WINNERS – we are naturally born successful people,

#We did not use the spoils of war to enrich ourselves through shares and stocks, nor benefit from it
#Neither did we dominate federal government funds and enrich ourselves through government contracts
YET, WE ARE COMPETING VERY WELL AND EVEN BETTER THAN THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN SHELL-SHOCKED BY CONSPIRACY – THEREIN LIES THE HALLMARK OF OUR GREATNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#lets not forget the little fact that Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe took the reigns of the fight for independence when Herbert Macaulay became conservative, and started yarning something else…
[know your history – also go and see the personal tribute Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa made in the 1963 NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION, on the GREAT ZIK OF AFRICA’s independence efforts, AND HOW “Nigeria can never adequately reward Dr. Azikiwe” for his nationalism. To his greatness, when he died, he was mourned ALL OVER AFRICA – as far as TANZANIA – He is still being studied in Ghana in the history of GHANAIAN JOURNALISM… etc]

#WE HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED CELEBRATING THE ORIGINAL AND CREATIVE BUNDLE OF TALENT THAT IS NDIGBO, AND YOU ARE ALREADY SHOUTING – what will happen when we start celebrating our DYNAMIC INNOVATIVE ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY? Then you guys will start screaming like patients in a psychiatric ward???

@Marv, it’s not just about Igbos. All the tribes have a distrust and sometimes dislike of each other. An Igbo elder once said at a rally that people shouldn’t vote for an Igbo politician who was according to be a traitor for joining a party with Yorubas and Hausas! Then a Yoruba King threatened Igbos , etc.

@seriously. I understand your point but scientifically, there is no ‘most any tribe’ Nnamdi Azikwe, Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo, Ngozi Iweala, Folurunso Alakija, Aliko Dangota, Dora Akunyili and loads of many Nigerians have made it a great country and for those who know the people I mentioned personally, I am not saying they are perfect but we can attest to the fact that they have done one thing or another to make Nigeria better. People from all the tribes have also contributed negatively. I must say that I have met far more consistently good people in my life than bad people their race notwithstanding. My son’s teacher is white and so adorable; Nkechi helped me settle in Uni. In fact my Yoruba cousin’s Igbo professor proudly announced the fact that she graduated summa cum laude on her grad day. Ladidi, my family friend was so caring, gentle and adorable. My mum took my sister and I to their house every week, very respectful people. My Chinese friends give me good business; Mum keeps talking about her nice Indian doctor; My Spanish friends are so stress less; My Yoruba cousin is highly dependable. My black co worker makes life easier at work or else would have struggled beyond measure. My prayer is to keep meeting consistently good people. This forum will not permit me to mention other good people I have met from Russia, Britain, Nicaragua etc. My relationship with an individual is first him or her. Are you surrounded by good people who want the good things God has made to shine through or will you stay in a detrimental relationship both to you, your family and the human race just because the person is of a particular tribe or race? God please watch over me and don’t let my path and that of my destroyers cross same tribe, race or not. I want great people around me who want my success.

I’ve noticed, igbo people are very self righteous, delusional, very self centered and don’t see what they do wrong. It’s always about how Yorubas treat them badly while they do the same, even worst to Yorubas. The truth is, many Igbos hate Yorubas, but expect Yorubas to kiss their a”s. They constantly have this arrogance and condescending attitude towards Yorubas, insult, but want them to just keep quiet. Human nature is to attack or retaliate.

P.S anyway, I support the doctor’s license been revoked, one of the things I admire about U.S.

@Seriously You are part of the problem, blindly partaking in general assumptions about a whole tribe. How many Igbo people have you interacted with to make such gross generalisations? I don’t even understand where you and some people get these ideas. You’re just as bad as those so called ‘proud and delusional’ Igbos because you are just spewing ignorance. You need to check yourself and sort your own ignorance and prejudice first, figure out what really is biting you and own your shit, before you start going on about others. You stay in your little hole and begin to pontificate about an entire group which is as multifaceted and diverse in opinion as any other. This is the same attitude that we complain about with the foreign representation of Nigeria and Nigerians that is so based on half truths and stereotypes. you really need to free your mind, and learn something.

Our individual success means nothing if our states cannot function.
Only Igbos do not marry in their homeland because they fear kidnapping.
Igbos do not feel safe in their homeland more than any other Ngerians.
We need to shift the focus from individual and material success to success of our homeland.

    • Benjamin Osawe

      April 24, 2015 at 3:36 am

It is a very convoluted story and long but I will give you the short form. Igbo’s were the dominant group when the British were around, from business to the local authorities and ministries of the then colonial government. Now Igbos apparently by reason of being enterprising spread all over the nation doing business, police work and armed forces work. Indigenes of this major centers of trade in the North and south of Nigeria became hostile over time in their own bid to gain relevance or surpass the dominance of the Igbo’s. The British when leaving sought a balance and wanted a Northern Hausa/ Fulani person to lead the predominantly Igbo administrative structure. Now the coup of 1966 and its aftermath has now put the Igbo’s in really dire straits till date. The 1966 coup popularly called the Nzeogwu coup was supposed to be a coup to wipe out corrupt politicians of every tribe but the aftermath looked like the Igbo soldiers targeted mainly Northern elite and those of the southwest only. This happened mainly because the other groups of officers in the lagos sector lost their nerve. hence some politicians escaped, this was not by design. Aguiyi Ironsi an Igbo general being the most senior officer took over and arrested the offending officers mainly Igbos. The northern officers were upset and so carried out a coup that led to Aguiyi Ironsi being killed in Ibadan along with a gallant Yoruba officer by name Fajuyi who pleaded for his life and that of Ironsi to no avail. Pogroms began against Igbos all over the country from 1966 to early 1967, which made Igbo’s opt to go back home. Yet they were hunted like animals and killed at checkpoints mounted by Northern and southwest soldiers while trying to reach the Igbo heartland from north to east and south to east.. Igbo’s in response declared their nation called Biafra, notherners and southwesterners of Nigeria began a police action to bring Biafra (Igbo’s) back to Nigeria and then asked for blockade against Biafra from cameroun and western countries. Eventually over 5 million Igbo’s died of starvation and war. Nigeria and its western allies fought Biafra becos the oil wells were situated there in the east of Nigeria. 1970 the war and genocide ended, Till date Igbo hatred has become fashionable in the North and Southwest of Nigeria.

The Oba made his statements. He was heavily condemned. Nothing happened. No single life was lost. I was so thankful for that
The Zulu King made his own statement. A lot happened.
It shows one thing. No one is at war with anybody in the West here. It is clear enough.
Pls don’t attach madness to any tribe. When you are mad, you are mad. It’s just what it is.
There is an adage in Yoruba which says “omo daada ti Baba.. Omo buruku ti Iya e ni*
This Mr Ariyo is an omo-ale. Simple. He needs to get his head checked.

All this hate on Ndi Igbo yet they don’t want Biafra to be. Anyways it’s a wake up call on Ndi Igbo. Any igbo man who still invest outside Igbo is on their own. What this evil doer and Oba said is just what’s in the mind of 60% of non igbos. Let’s stop pretending. They just can’t hold it back any longer. But God is watching us all. If I’m tired of abroad I will retire in east . Kpom kwem..

Abeg, Igbos will not survive with Biafra. Stop deceiving yourselves. You guys tried it and failed terribly. Mr ojukwu, failed his people. He had no plan B, if he did that many people wouldn’t have died. Don’t go against the government, be arrogant and then expect a helping hand from the same people you are fighting against. Keep in mind, the south south is not joining you guys. How many states, lands do you guys have? How will you guys survive on food and water because even now there drought and all type of things on in igbo land. So, stop all that Biafra nonsense talk.

You see this is my problem with people like you. you all claim to dislike igbos and their arrogance, yet on the other hand say that they cannot cope on their own due to boa bla. …if there are detested why not release them?…. i don’t understand this idea of not liking someone and still living with them…. the only reason you live with someone you don’t like is if you are benefitting from it. The Nigerian people were already killing them, before the war so how were some of them to know that this same Nigerian people would not let them go in peace and instead fight them to stay?…………its not for you to predict if they would suffer or not, just let them get on with it and survive how they know best….. I am just an observer and I am confused. Everytime I ask the question, if the igbos are so irritating why weren’t they set free when they wanted to, at least they would irritate themselves? i still get no answer

Are Igbos in prison? Are they chained? As far as everyone is concerned, there’s no slavery or imprisonment going on, so no needs for any release. Just big mouth, no productive action. Igbo people are enjoying the goods of the land in the same Nigeria, they want to separate from. Abeg, You guys can leave whenever you want. Continue to stay in confusion and state of denial bcos you guys refuse to be realistic and be truthful about your issues. Igbo people are barely surviving in Igbo land right now hence why many Igbos are migrating to the west and some to the north. There are more number of Igbos living outside than on their lands, that speaks volume. If your land is good, and can survive on your own stay over there. It’s not prediction, it’s fact. You have failed in this Biafra thing, and I guess you want to fail the second time around again. I even want you guys to do it, so tired of all this running of mouth based on nothing. Oya, start packing…..

@Stopdat…. I am sorry you are not making sense… i don’t even want to start educating you on were you are wrong …so i would just let you die in your ignorance as you are lost..

Igbo people are also enjoying from the Nigerian union is very true, but are Nigerians happy about it?…… all i hear is go back to your land, this and that…. if you weren’t bothered why are you complaining? why are you angry that they are also benefitting then? if you are not happy, the best thing is to let them go like they request, because i don’t understand?

All this go back to your land sef, they confuse me… which one is land again when we are all part of a country called Nigeria!!…… that is why we are a country, as long as you are a citizen of country , you can move around anywhere you want within it….. it is not possible for every part of a country to have the same opportunities, check around the world….telling someone to go back to their land is as good as telling them to go back and form their own country…. which is why i said release them then let them suffer as they wish….

how about other ethnic groups that are successful abroad, living comfortably and even get citizenship (the highest welcome) should the indigenes send them back to come and develop Nigeria?

I am very comfortable in my life and grew up around different ethnic groups and race/nationalities…, like i said i am just an observer, trying to understand all this commotion … so help me out honestly because I am truly confused, its one thing to complain about someones character but if you dislike and want to wipe them out, is it not better to just release them let everyone be at peace?

so much i could write but i would stop here.

Very okay about states developing their states. Which means please no more donations to the federal government. The way it stands, most states are living off some states. The president elect already said they will prospect for oil at the Chad basin. Good news. He should also see about building ports in the southeast. So that the congestion at apapa port can go down drastically. If you have ports like apapa, one in each region, believe me Lagos port will not be congested. Each state can do well on it’s own. This is what you get when you use the resources of other states to develop Lagos. Do the same to Enugu, Port harcourt, Borno, Kano and you will see a huge difference. We need to be very objective. You can’t rob Peter to pay paul.

    Dear Friends,

I’m so disappointed with this man’s comments because as a Nigerian in America. It is kind of the only place where I’m able to interact with Nigerians from all tribes freely. In Yankee, there seems to be a togetherness of Nigerians whether Igbo, Yoruba, Efik. I mean I have more diverse Nigerian friends in America than I had while in Nigeria. Further, for a man living in America where it is a huge melting point, where for the most part your hard work could payoff without any tribalistic agenda it is a shame of a comment. I pity his children I hope he is not feeding them with all his hate.

I think there are a lot of wounds that need to be healed from the Biafra war. Igbo’s are still para about other non-igbos. Thats why the Igbo man is fascinated about building a house in the village because the Biafra war took them by surprise and they lost all their belongings in the South West. Igbos were successful business men in the South West and also MDs of a lot of the multinational companies before the war. A lot of families lost their wealth and had to start afresh some could not access their bank account after the war. My fathers generation do not trust non-igbos and non-igbos do not trust us because of the fear of our ambition.

We need a national forgiveness/reconciliation day and some sort of Biafra Memorial for 3 million Igbos that died. I think Nigeria has to mention the death of Igbos as a Genocide and get closure on this matter.

I mean I know we are ambitious but the Igbo man has contributed to the growth of the Nigerian economy, culture and growth. If we where not worth anything they will have let us form Biafra abi? Creating a Biafra nation will have been the best remedy because the killing and hidden hate for Igbos is too much but God knows best and I believe in the dream that is Nigeria. Instead of us hating each other, why don’t we harness the talent of over 300 different ethnic groups and move this country forward.

On a lighter note, the doctor is in Dallas & Texas which is pretty much Igboville he better upgrade his ADT!

      April 23, 2015 at 12:17 am

I stand to be corrected though.
In my opinion Biafra War wasn’t about Hate. It was political…. It was about POLITICS pure and simple, and really it is what is obtainable today.
It is so bad now that it’s been passed down to the family unit, engraved in children’s mind.
I didn’t grow up like that, I had my first experience of tribalism in my adult life, at work even, and I can tell u it was very painful., which has made me in turn somewhat tribalistic.
Now, I feel I should play fair. You say one thing about my tribe I ll say 10. Which doesn’t lead anywhere but breeds more hate. However I don’t think an apology is out of order. If that is what will make us less paranoid of each other. Then it’s fine.
I think it’s time to talk about these things. It’s time really.
Pls no insults this time. I believe we can reach an agreement.
Right now I don’t even know how to face my Igbo colleagues whom are now friends ( some o) with me. It’s heartbreaking. I work in in a Fed parastatal, so this issue will be taken so personally. Mehn. I can’t deal.

If you really believe that “Neutral Somebody” is Igbo, then you’ll believe anything. It happens all the time all over social media. Twisted people masquerading as “Igbo” or “Yoruba” putting out comments so obviously aimed at ramping up the tension in any Igbo/Yoruba scenario (although to be fair to Neutral Somebody, there was something tongue-in-cheek about his comment). Otherwise smart readers not bothering to engage their brains and detect the fraud? Have you noticed how this SUPPOSED tension between Yorubas and Igbos has increased 99% since the spread of social media? Have you also noticed how 99% of the antagonists are diasporans?

Anyway, me Igbo man just dey enjoy my marriage to a Yoruba (Egba) Queen, still going strong and still hot and steamy after 15 yrs and 3 kids. As for our esteemed hate spewing cardiologist, I have nothing to say because I don’t know what sort of hellish psychological warfare he has had to endure from his “oyinbo” in laws, collegues, neighbours and friends.

Hahahaha…I laugh. Let all the evil in their hearts be spurting out and let them use their own hands to destroy their destinies. A classic case of pot calling kettle ‘black’. To all those saying Igbos also say bad things about the Yorubas, has anyone ever called for the slaughter of your people or threatened the collective life of your ethnic group? There is tribalism and there is pure wickedness – case in point. His past cases should indeed be investigated.

    April 22, 2015 at 5:37 pm

This doctor is an educated illeterate. Secondly, this is a case of kettle calling pot black. This moron left the shores of Nigeria to pursue his education, after graduation, got a job, resides in the United States of America doing same thing the Igbo people came to Lagos to do. Igbo people should ignore him because he is a retard. His speech is protected under the constitution of the United States of America. The second amendment protects him from prosecution regardless of how offensive or provocative such statements may be. This doctor needs to be very careful not to cross the lines by asking people to kill or maime other people. should anyone take him up on his statements, he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This doctor should stop all these hate nonesence period. The more you know. A word is enough for the wise. I ‘ m just saying.

How did Sudan and other war torn countries get to where they are now. Because of people like this doctor and neutral somebody who cannot think outside the box. To be rich or beautiful or intelligent don’t make you smart or wise. They were dirty, untidy, ratchet and worst of all, they were thieves! It was like a curse! All my yoruba roommates stole my things. April 23, 2015 at 2:34 am

Let’s go, I’m down for whatever too. In ondo state, where I grew up, we had all these Igbo women in the area. Those Igbo women that sell palm wine, they were basically the “ashawos” of the town. Just useless. Most of them were not married or had any kids, they were committed to that lifestyle. There was a particular IMO lady that was popular, she didn’t hide her life. who suddenly died. And they found out, she died of AIDS. Then one day, I went to one of my classmate’s house, she’s from Enugu. Her mom was talking trash about Yorubas this and that. She thought I was Igbo, since Igbo people believe they are the only fine persin. one of my friends who is half Yoruba and Igbo translated it. And, there was an Igbo man, who used to be like family friend to us. He started a car business, so of course as friends we will take our car issues to him. There were other Yoruba car business people but we wanted to be loyal to so called friends. Let’s just say his fraudulent, con artist, money greed took the best of him. He stole, so much from my dad. My dad planned to take him to court over it but unfortunately he’s dying of pancreatic cancer. I’m still friend with one of his daughter, we used to be closer but it’s caused tension btw us.

For a medical doctor to think this way is by far appalling and disgusting. This is testament that not all educated people are civilized, diplomatic, and wise. I won’t be surprised or feel sorry for him if he looses his medical license. That will teach him a lesson that power, age, and liberty comes with responsibility because freedom of expression or speech does not give one the right to be foolish or create social disconduct.

Its funny how these yorubas are screaming “develop your lands”. It’s like this Lagos (which by d way igbos, hausas and other tribes have helped develop imensely) is the only crown of glory the westerners have. Like have you all been to other western states? How well developed are they? How well do these people think they can maintain this Metropolis called Lagos without the presence of people from other tribes?? With their totally nonexistent sense of decency??

I know right?! The road in my street is very bad and my dad happens to be the only Igbo (unwanted) man in that area. My dad decided that the road should be fixed since the government won’t pay attention to remote places on the mainland. He asked for contributions and they blatantly refused. Now we’re talking about rich Yoruba men here who could easily take the project up solo. My dad bore the pains and fixed the road without any monetary contributions from these yoruba landlords. Now the road is fixed and these yoruba men are enjoying a smooth ride on it why secretly harboring hatred for my dad. What kind of people are they anyway? They indeed have no sense of decency and the truth is if other tribes ignore Lagos completely, the state will completely degenerate to a pile of refuse and shit.

      April 22, 2015 at 11:46 pm

Don’t deviate. Face the truth, address the issue of drought, land scarcity even food scarcity in igbo lands and develop your lands. Anybody denying that Lagos’s success has nothing to do with Yorubas is a fool. The people in office are Yorubas, and yes we have done well for our land. Other groups contributed but Igbos want to take all the credit. It’s ludicrous, that mindset is what rubs us the wrong way. If you guys are so proud of Igbo heritage why don’t you guys claim your original places, language like how other group do. No matter how long a benue, northerner lives in Lagos, still claiming and going back to build their state. Stop running away from your states to settle in yorubalands, if you feel like the same Yorubas haven’t contributed anything. Only for the Yoruba people to deal with you guys feeling more superior, arrogant, lousy and disrespectful. If you guys had little development, you won’t be migrating within Nigeria this much. A lot of yorubalands apart from Lagos are more developed than Igbo lands. Even in ondo state, there’s agriculture, cocoa, other things which is also the reason, you guys are there. There’s more opportunities for you guys in the west area than east. However, you guys want to just dominate loudly and expect the natives to look on. No way.

@ade you need to travel. The only place in the southwest that is more developed and that affords more opportunities than Anambra or Imo is Lagos. You also need to read more. Igbos can never stay in their zone only, even if it’s the most beautiful place in the world. They are itinerant in nature.
I also find it ridiculous that people talk about drought and food scarcity in Igboland, seriously? They must be referring to one Igboland in Sudan. Some people are so ignorant and they can’t even shut up.

    • Ade

      April 23, 2015 at 4:40 am

Other Yoruba states are still more developed than Igbo states. If it’s not developed why are you guys still migrating to ondo state for example. There’s more of Igbo people in the whole of ondo state than in your lands. Igbo people are so locked up in their grandeur, delusional, deceit state of mind, they refuse to accept the truth.

Reading some of the comments here also makes me shudder and to imagine that Nigerians are one of the most religious people on earth shows our level of hypocrisy! Love your neighbor as yourself no be for mouth o! Let it translate in your words, thoughts and deeds. I just signed the petition against the doctor he is a disgrace to his generation!!

the fact that one is educated does not mean one is sensibles. obviously this man is well educated I mean he is a doctor. seriously how can a well-educated man who I am sure have dealt with racial profiling and all here in the united state suggest that some group of people be slaughter simply because the are immigrants in a place. how about if African Americans decide to kill African for taking their jobs or because we are here in America? he obviously has children does he know where his children will be tomorrow? he needs to ask himself that. I am Nigerian and I really do not care where a person is from my friends are from different parts of the world and I appreciate that because it makes me understand diversity more. our culture and beliefs are different but we respect one another and we accept our differences. we cannot act like something is not there, acknowledging that is there is going to give us the power to understand and respect it.

Black people are their own worst enemies. Tribalism, Xenophobia, Civil wars, gun violence amongst African Americans abroad etc. When will we learn to love & support each other?
No wonder they call Africa the dark continent. How can there be growth when people are at each others throat? Instead of looking at the bigger picture and working together.
You are practicing medicine in a foreign land and you are asking a certain group of people to leave another. He’s such a hypocrite!

The 419 scam started with the Igbo people. Yorubas advanced the scam using the internet by sending stupid emails of investing. Google is your best friend. Also, simply google, nigerian men killing their wives most are Igbo names and south. Kidnapping is an Igbo thing, it’s so rampant in Igbo and south south area. Prostitution in Nigeria to Italy, other European areas na Igbo and south babes. Not to say other tribes don’t do it but Igbos take the crown in most of these areas. When it comes to money, Igbo man will do anything. I guess, Igbo people are retiring from their bad behaviors, all of a sudden they are having memory loss.

@Nengi. Is your state developed? Give it a rest. The vast majority of Nigeria is in various states of under-development or no development. I’ve been to various parts of Nigeria and outside of the handful of major cities such as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, etc., Nigeria is mostly not developed and all of the major cities need some serious upgrading. So, everyone should stop acting as if their corner of Nigeria is small London.

Enugu became a city as a result of the discovery of coal deposits . Niger delta, developed as a result of oil. Lagos, has the Atlantic. These things inspire. Migration. When we migrate, we offer services to host communities. We are hardworking , that’s why we migrate.

The average Nigerian is a tribalist and until we learn that we can’t do without each other, we can’t move forward.

    • Tomisin

      April 23, 2015 at 8:49 am

Thanks for this; the average Nigerian is a tribalist! And this was caused by our parents – experience a bad person from a particular tribe/town, then all the people from that tribe/town are bad automatically. All the ladies from Ondo state that i’ve met told me their parents have always kicked against a union between an ondo state lady and an ogun state man and that’s within the Yoruba tribe.

Most of us have deep-rooted tribalism caused by what we’ve heard our parents say at one point or the other and then if we now have a bad experience from the tribe they’ve complained about, the tribalism will surface. At least 80% of us must have heard our parents say at least one bad thing or the other about the other tribe.

I am from Osogbo in Osun state and I’ve met some guys from the same Osun state who have told me “my mother/grandmother said Osogbo ladies do not stay in their husband’s house”.

It is left to our own generation to teach our children better so that tribalism can be eradicated gradually. And sadly, from some of the comments have read so far, i pray our generation is not even worse than our parents as regards tribalism.

Can someone copy and paste where he said all Igbos SHOULD be killed?
Why have we plucked this man from obscurity only to give him and his comments so much attention?
Is every single person who makes a tribalistic comment going to have a petition opened against him/her? Because if so we are going to be here for a long time.
Will all tribalistic comments from Igbos about other tribes be publicised as well? Or are all Igbos non tribalistic, welcoming and accepting of all ethnic groups?
I don’t think he should have his medical license revoked.

Clearly you don’t understand the responsibility that comes with having a professional license in the US. He can and may have his license revoked. Having a license is a privilege and not a right. How can the “doctor” be trusted to do no harm to prospective Igbo patients when he clearly hates Igbos? That is the concern. The goal of any medical board in the US is to prevent doctors from doing harm to the public and Igbos are part of this public. Deal with it since it’s obvious you dislike Igbos. Take out Igbo and substitute another group such as Jews or women. Would that convince you that the “doctor” is out of line.

I thought there was something wrong with me. This man did not say anything hateful. He only made an observation which is sadly true. Natives can always wake up and want you out of their land and it calls for caution when living in a land that isn’t your native land. From the Boko Haram insurgency, so many from Eastern Nigeria have lost a lot and if today Native Lagosians begin to revolt en masse(a wrong move but can’t be ruled out) Igbos will lose again. There’s nothing wrong with making a life in another place but it is also important to make your own native place habitable and flourishing.Development is beyond buying SUVs and building mansions.

You said Radio Biafra could have been set up by people from other tribes to turn people against Igbos. How convenient. Of course an Igbo person could never do wrong, it has to be one of the other tribalistic ethnic groups.

@Ade, your hatred and inferiority complex has no bounds. Its a pity that anyone who reads your comments can see through you. You are worse than this despicable doctor and the Oba of Lagos. At a time where people are clamouring for co-existence, you are busy demonizing the Ibos. Please, whose fault is it that another man or tribe lives his homeland or kin and is able to identify opportunities in another part of Nigeria or another part of the world? When you talk of dominating it only reflects your level of insecurity and jealousy. Please, explain how Ibos dominate. Are you referring to how hard working someone from his village toils for several years and eventually breaks through and starts enjoying the fruit of his labor in Lagos? Has there been any part of Lagos that an Ibo man has claimed any land without paying for such property despite the age long atrocities and harassment that your type continue to mete out on Ibos when they legally purchase land from you? Kindly educate me on the law that bars any Nigerian from residing where he or she decides to.

Also, for your information since you are dishonest to yourself, please point out other states or cities in Nigeria that compare to Lagos in terms of infrastructure. Lagos was the capital of Nigeria for several decades and the center committed a disproportionate amount of resources to its development in comparison to other cities or states in Nigeria. If a state or city in any other part of Nigeria was chosen as Nigeria’s capital that state or city would also be as cosmopolitan as Lagos thus the current nature of Abuja. Sadly the south eastern states that you disrespect reflect the poor leadership seen in almost all the states in Nigeria including the south western states which every well meaning Nigerian abhors.

I understand that the Ibos are no saints just like every other tribe. Ask your God to forgive you the hatred that has eaten so deep into your heart that you are using other identified sadists downfall to hide your true nature. If you are bold enough come out and make tribalistic statement like your type instead of hiding under the guise you are. It a shame that in 2015 people will deal with your type.

If I have legitimately worked hard and smart enough I deserve to build and live wherever I choose to in Lagos or anyother part of Nigeria. Not a hate filled Ade can stop any tribe from residing where the choose to in Nigeria.

      April 23, 2015 at 5:01 am

Is that all? Since you accuse me of hatred, you are also full of hatred. Abeg, answer these critical questions at hand. The question is, why are Igbo people leaving their states and settling in these so called “underdeveloped” Yoruba states. Do you understand how stupid you sound? Igbos use their resources to develop others, really? Anybody in their right mind wil see through the lies. I’m not calling for killings of anybody but will state my opinion just the same way many Igbo are opening their smelly mouths to talk too. So, you guys want to talk but want others to be quiet. Until Igbo people become humble and stop been so grandiose then a productive discussion will Happen. No single Igbo want to talk about the truth but hide under being a victim.

      April 23, 2015 at 11:29 am

You are really worse than REALLY CONCERNED described you, your inferiority complex knows no bounds, so you think there are no Yoruba people living in other parts of Nigeria? How did I miss all this today!! Amazing openness and sharing of perspectives. I said it!! Until we have an open and honest conversation about this ism, we will not uncover the belly of the snake. Many of us suffer from implicit bias because of the stereotypes we grew up with. Growing up I heard lots of suggestions that Calabar people are houseboys. I heard their girls are loose. I heard that Rivers women snatch other people’s men. I heard that Igbo girls will sell their bodies for anything. I was told never to eat akara from Yoruba people because there will be poop in it. I was told all Hausas were lepers and that their men had horse sized privates that would always poke a hole through the abdomen. As I was entering my teens, I was told all tiv women marry 10 men. I was also told all Tiv men had HIV. I often heard people say Yorubas were braggards without reason and that they were posers and deceitful. I heard Igbo people would sell their mothers and birth rights for money. I heard ijaw people drank whiskey from morning to night and were always inebriated. I heard Warri men were useless as husbands and that they never took on gainful employment. I heard Warri girls were rough around the edge stout-drinking freebies and that Benin girls were all prostitutes. My people, the list goes on and on. I have besties from most of these groups and they do not fit the stereotypes!!!
The issue here is that we do not see each other first as human, created by God, in his image, and gifted with talents. We use one example of human folly that happens to be highlighted by someone from one ethnic group, and it becomes the identity of the entire ethnic group. We have been indoctrinated silently in childhood by the snide comments we hear our trusted guardians – parents and elderly relatives – make about other groups. I hope this bella debate sparks a national discussion across generations about this issue and I hope people speak frankly. If we weighed every Nigerian first by what they bring to the table, and we understand that each person will be colored in their actions by their culture, then we can be more accommodating and respectful of each other. Context is everything. Dont use your understanding and culture to interpret someone else’s. ASK for an explanation and to see it through their lenses. When you dont, the result is the wrong conclusion and you become a perpetrator of unfounded misrepresentations and character assasination.

The hypocrisy of some yoruba people stinks to high heavens. Many of them shouting “go back and develop your states” are not even Lagos aboriginals. Let them start by developing some of their dying states like Osun, Ekiti, Ondo etc. See all of them shamelessly trying to claim Lagos, a state that owes its current level of development to every ethnic group. These same punks will tomorrow refer to Niger Delta oil as “our oil”. While we’re trying to develop Anambra, Enugu and Abia, y’all should step up and develop Ondo, Osun and Ekiti.

Igbo people won’t go anywhere to please you schmucks. We don’t owe anyone gratitude for what we do in Lagos or anywhere in Nigeria. It’s not like we were given lands and food for free. We have worked and toiled for everything we have. Now you twats want to take everything from us under the pretext that we don’t appreciate the accommodation provided to us. To hell with your so called accommodation.

You guys forced us out of Biafra and back into Nigeria. We are now here as you wanted and you must learn to live with it.

And igbo people are the biggest hypocrites and liars. What about you worry about the worst problems in your states Yorubas love each other, if we can tolerate you guys obnoxious behavior, accomodate other tribes. Osun, ekiti, ondo etc claiming lagos is not a problem at all. Yoruba lagosians are not complaining. Its not the same love in igboland. The hatred among igbos is very high, you guys hate one an other with passion even kilking each other over lands, money in the east. Your pride, arrogance will blind your eyes now.
Now, lets talk about lagos. Igbos didnt build any infrastructure, railroad, or did you guys fix NEPA? Abeg, calm your big head down. The only thing igbos are known for is trader. The success of lagos today is beyond igbo trading. Nobody can fully survive on trading, so u guys need to find more tangible things to latch on. . Banking, financial, real estate, telecoomunication, etc is attributed to other tribes not igbos. The other only thing igbos can take credit for is nollywood, which is subjective. The clothes, shoes other products you guys sell, other tribes do it. Its just that igbos do market business more.
Ondo state has more Igbos than your state. Clearly, its more developed in terms of school, growing your business and safer. An igbo person can easily buy a land in yoruba places than his own place. Yorubas are nice people, we are into one nigeria than you guy.. Im only responding to igbos bad attitude and delusional mind. And the fact that you guys think you are high up there when its far from that. Jnfact, you guys are not doing well enough to be making this much noise. Iyorubaland is more conducive to a better life than igboland. Igboland is very dry and infertile. I dont mind the migration but the arrogance attitude is the problem.

There is no need exchanging words with our fellow citizens on this forum. Just go to and sign the petition. It takes less than 5 minutes. Good Nigerian citizens who live in the Dallas area can also picket his office, or just copy and paste this BN page to his employers in a letter and post it. If he has a church, send them a copy, send another to his Alma mater in the US. Hit him where it hurts most, the pocket. Believe me, if his patients and co-workers learn of his views, they will all distance themselves from him. I personally know many Nigerians from all tribes, including his, who have come out strongly against him. Just goggle his name, and his office address will pop up. That is activism, not abusing each on a comment page.

This is the height of idiocy, wickedness, stupidity, hatred, and bigotry, sourped in one waste pot termed Adeniran Abraham Ariyo. He is a lost soul. I have no doubt in my mind that most Yorubas, and Nigerians in general, would be embarrassed. He is alone. He is a loser. He portrays hatred. He has no peace. He has put his life in perpetual turmoil. The sad thing is, he has a family, and those poor souls must share his the fruit of his idiocy. I pray that God Almighty touch his soul for the better. It must be DAMN TOO DARK IN THERE!

As for being a doctor, he has no business taking care of anybody. His heart is evil. He is an imminent and gathering danger to humanity around him.

All I find worrisome is how my neighbours, colleagues and friends (the yorubas) are quick to say Igbos deserve whatever they get. That tells me that in case of another Igbo massacre, I really have no yoruba friend to shield me. Wahala!

You will know that anything is possible. first instinct is to get angry…. but then any sensible person would ask.. what makes a well read person, well educated, married to someone not of his kin…. go down this path…..???? I say no more other than to take this with a pinch of salt and step back…. WATCH CSI CYBER…. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB… with the right motivation and knowledge…. I think it is worth giving him the benefit of doubt and hope some authority with the “know how” will take up his cause and help to investigate this assertion of his that he was hacked….. What communication has light got to do with darkness? 2cor 6:14

And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. Luke 5:39

Can you force a man/lady to marry a lady/man against his/her wish? It is not possible to forcefully keep two/three/four seperate people/tribe/race together. Why do you want to forcefully make Nigeria one? Till we all learn that we are different and need to be separated, all this will continue. Nigerian people shouldnt be coerced to stay together if they dont wish to be together.

Nigeria is too big a country, too diverse. Appointing ministers is a problem as each zone clamours for her son/daughter; choosing a president is a problem, voting is a problem as each zone votes based on ethnic/religious lines; senate presidency, speakership, even employment in civil service has to be ethnically motivated.

Do you all know that only 6 (six) countries of the world are only larger than Nigeria in terms of population?
    1.China 1.3billion
    2.India 1.2billion
    3. United states 320million
    4. Indonesia 255million
    5.Brazil 204million
    6. Pakistan 189million
    7. Nigeria 183m

240Countries of the world are smaller than Nigeria with over 140 countries less than 10million.

In Nigeria, you have states that are more than 10million. This means a state in Nigeria is larger than over 140countries population wise.

Let each region stay on its own. The regions would survive via import and export of what they have to the other countries.

Everyone is guilty of tribalism, and you know it. We all have an opinion in our minds about the other ethnic group.

    Let these people be!

  98. Theresa

    April 23, 2015 at 10:16 am

From the comments on this site, as well as those on other sites, we can safely conclude that many Nigerians are tribalists. Luckily, most of us do not use our real names and so evade the consequences. While I do not condone Dr. Ariyo’s comments, I think he is no different from many of us who have said hateful things about other tribes. Demanding that he be sacked (or his details passed on to the KKK, like some commenters posted on other sites) is quite extreme. All of us are guilty of tribalism.

I also want to point out that Dr. Ariyo did NOT call for the slaughter of Igbos. He only pointed out the pattern of behaviour from minority groups that lead to pogroms and genocide. As annoying as it may be, history is his witness.

The Igbo pogroms in the North started because Igbos were naive and disrespectful. They had been anti-Igbo sentiments which may have been out of jealousy due to the success of Igbos. But what made the Hausas to go berserk was the behaviour of Igbos after Nzeogwu’s coup. As you know, Nzeogwu, an Igbo soldier, alongside his fellow coup plotters, killed predominantly Hausa and Yoruba politicians, and spared Igbo politicians. Among those killed were the Sardauna of Sokoto, a much revered leader of the Hausas. What did Igbos do afterwards, in the face of such injustice? Some of them went dancing and rejoicing, even composing songs about the murders. The Igbo leaders were silent, and Aguiyi Ironsi, the Igbo president at the time, did not punish the coup plotters. Predictably, the long standing animosity turned to rabid hatred which led to that horrible slaughter, and subsequently the civil war.

Dr. Ariyo’s comments alongside that of the Oba and other Yorubas, should make our Igbo folks wiser. These people (your hosts) are not happy with your behaviour. Shouting “One Nigeria” is not enough. We have to learn to count our teeth with our tongue. This is the time to build bridges not walls, we are the ones who always suffer when our hosts get tired of us. Calling for harsh judgements against Dr. Ariyo (who doesn’t have any power to influence attacks against Igbos) is one sure way of building walls. An Igbo adage says, “when a mosquito lands on your scrotum, you have to be careful”. Not everything is to rushed at immediately. This is the time for Igbo sons and daughters to extinguish the flames of hatred which are fanned by overzealous and paranoid people. Let’s learn from history to prevent a repeat of it.
May God help us become wiser.

Theresa.check your history.when coups are plotted the soldiers are not sent to their area to avoid sentiments.check the soldiers who were sent to kill igbo leaders were they igbos? No! So whose fault? Please igbos are hated because they excel in all they do. I know people who are hated in their offices because they are igbo yet they keep can’t do anything about this, igbos can’t help it.

The fact that he -himself is an immigrant and a minority that has been allowed to thrive in another land is clearly lost on him.

So is no one safe? If i was Dallas and was sick and went to him for treatment – should i not expect him to go by his oath to do no harm. Can the effects of the current Xenophopic attacks in SA affect me, as a simple everyday individual in Dallas who happened to fall sick. Do i now have to ask every doctor to declare their opinions on all matters before he treats me for the common cold?. Does the fact that he is a doctor not mean anything? What is happening?

Are igbo people so bad? is it bad to be ambitious? entrepreneurial? to be about that paper? should we be cleansed because of that? would it end all that is bad in the world?
Is no other tribe/Individual ‘guilty’ of ambition? success? a better life?
If one igbo man or even a group of them have offended you – should all igbo’s be killed?
my ex hurt me. Should me brother die? are they not both men?
    Does God no longer exist?
    This is becoming really scary!

    April 23, 2015 at 6:30 pm

Listen…ALL this back and forth about which tribe this and that is ridiculous. You want to know why its ridiculous because at the end of the day we are all looked at as one. The outside world still see’s us as Nigerians they don’t know anything about different tribes and what area is what. If you ever get to the US or even the UK you are looked as BLACK until you show them otherwise, so they can then claim that “you are different from other blacks” (I go through this everyday) . As much as we love our older generation, DON’T FALL into their ignorance. Tribalism was their issue, it was their generation and it was STRICTLY POLITICAL AND GREED! We are now mixed!! We marry who we love, why continue to beat an old dog??? Our fight should be about ending corruption, raising un-employment, developing our country! Leave this tribalism ALONE…if we don’t band together everyone will fall!

Any of you who are spewing hate…Hopefully you have a chance to leave Nigeria and see beyond your compound, You will truly see what else is going on in the world. Its not as Lavish and Fun as it looks like in the movies you watch! Outside of AFRICA you are looked at as a NIGGER….and right now ITS HUNTING SEASON ON NIGGERS….keep that in mind when you decide to write hateful words about your own people.

“The power of the tongue is life and death those who love to talk will eat what it produces.” (Prov.18:21)
“The positive words that a man speaks fill his stomach; he will be satisfied with what his lips produce.”(Prov.18:20)
“Whoever watches his mouth and tongue keeps himself from trouble.”(Prov 21:23)
Ephesians 4:29 – Let no filthy talk be heard from your mouths, but only what is good for building up people and meeting the need of the moment. This way you will administer grace to those who hear you.

l must say that who gave this comment is out of his mind and do not reason proper before he opens his mouth to speak. if he directs that igbos should be slaughtered in Lagos for coming there to look for their food why did himself travelled abroad
He should have remained in Nigeria in order to eat but he still decided to leave for green pasture it shows how senseless he is and which he would not be able to regain himself talkless of realising that he is already lost and his remains shall be a meat in the mouth of bush animal. It is no use wasting time in responding to worthy less talk when there relevant issues that bothers in one mind he will dye wretched death since is his wish.

    Facebook pages are PERSONAL

information and opinion posted on them is personal

Images used on profiles are the copyright of the picture owner

The voews expressed on a facebook profile stating opinions about a specific group in a clearly laod out context does not constitute much by way of inciting hatred

Sharing the mans photo, collecting aimless petitions and cutting and pasting posts from his wall and parading his private photos wothout permission constitute a nuisance at least and harrasment, copyright violation and inciting others to harm a named individual

Hey, I don’t know who you are or where you stay but here in the US 90% of the people that have been penalized and punished severely for making a hate or racist comment where taken from their social media posting (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) or even personal phone conversation like Donald Sterling. Once the conversation or comment is made public, that’s all that’s needed and the person is held accountable most especially if he/she is in a position to act on what they have said. If this doctor had made a hate comment about a group here in the US, for example African Americans, he would have been out of his job right away but that doesn’t mean the petition is not under investigation. The Texas Health Board will make a decision by 90days of the filed complaint.
