BN Beauty: The Floral Belle! All the Details on Lupita Nyong’o’s Hair & Makeup at Cannes Film Festival Day 1

Lupita Nyong'o at Cannes Film Festival 2015 - Bellanaija - May2015005

It was day 1 of the 68th Cannes Film Festival yesterday, Wednesday 13th May 2015, and the red carpet was filled with entertainment royalty from Lupita Nyong’o in Gucci to Julianne Moore in Armani Prive. See the fab ladies and let us know who was your best dressed female of the day here.

One of our best dressed of the evening was the lovely Lupita who rocked a dazzling green dress by Gucci with embroidered crystals and pink and blush silk flowers. Even though we loved her dress; we fell even more in love with her beauty which had a pop of colour and a ballerina bun.

Lupita has quickly grown to be one of the favourites when it comes to beauty on the red carpet, so we are here to dish on her pretty face created by Nick Barose of Lancome and natural hair.

Lupita’s poised hairstyle was parked in a high ballerina bun coupled with kinky hair extensions that created the bun. The hairstyle was regal and added to her poised look.

For her stellar look, makeup artist Nick Barose gave Lupita dramatic, full brows, elegantly-lined eyes and a bold fuchsia lip for a pop of colour that flowed effortlessly with her dress.

For her face he used the Lancome Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, the La Base Pro Pore Eraser to give her a seamless matte look, the Translucence Mattifying Silky Pressed Powder in 550 Suede for her dark skin and gave her face a rosy finish with the Blush Subtil in Plum Noir.

Her bold brows were achieved by using the Lancome Sourcils Tint Longwear Eyebrow Pen in Noir, and her upper eyelids were lined with the Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir Intense and completed with the Grandiôse Mascara in Noir Mirifique.

Her bold lips brought all the fun in bold colour. Nick used the Color Design Lipcolor in Hit List for the pop, the Lancome NEW Shine Lover Lipstick in Palpitante and finished off with the Le Crayon Lip Contour in Plum.

  2. Somehow....

    May 14, 2015 at 2:06 pm

somehow.. i don’t like this woman.. i don’t find her attractive or anything beautiful with her flat chest….. I don’t fall for her at all.. When the hypocrite white folks claim her as the most beautiful woman , i truly don’t see anything beautiful or attractive on her : I swear to GOD.. I prefer one million times: Genny Nnanji and Nse Ikpe.. they look more woman than this thing with no boobs.. eshewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

You obviously have no clue what it means to be beautiful. All those add -ons (surgery, bleaching and every other vain venture) can be a nightmare. She;s overcome her insecurities unlike you and most definitely comfortable in her own skin, plus being an inspiration to many. vain generation…

Its ok if you are not attracted to her, people have their preferences, but for you to call her “a thing” is absolutely mean and inhumane. And for your information, boobs doesn’t define a woman. Her bust size doesn’t make her less of a woman. Now I see why Hollywood is raving about her, because of so called people like you that have a certain type of “beauty stereotype” in your head.

@somehow, I’m sure ur a woman (if ur a man, then ur a big fool for calling lupita “this thing” and thunder will strike u wherever u are)

another woman body shaming another woman. very common practice amongst women in today’s society. a woman is the first person to call another fat or ugly. u women are ur biggest enemy.

having big boobs or small boobs doesn’t define a woman neither does having long hair. just because lupita has small (natural boobs) that doesn’t mean she’s less of a woman that other women who are carrying Argentina on their chest.

we are used to seeing big silicon breasts (kim kardashian, nicki minaj etc) thats why we don’t know what natural boobs looks like anymore.

if lupita gets breast implants it is u people that will still yab her and say she suffers from low self esteem.

on a lighter note, I don’t like the gown. pls we want fan bingbing’s look. fan bing bing was the best dressed and we want to see her look up close and personal.

Why do you have to refer to her as “this thing”?smh…..It’s so appalling the way some of you behave.Do you think degrading her will make you feel any better?..Seriously,some of you really need to learn how to respect others. You must not like her but it doesn’t give you the audacity to insult her in such manner..Obviously she doesn’t even know if you do exist.

God made her that way, she didn’t choose not to have boobs. That’s how God created her and it’s very cruel to insult something she has no control over.
‘She’s beautiful in her way cos God makes no mistakes, she’s on the right track baby she was born this way!’ xx

Everyone has a right to appreciate beauty in their own way and just because it doesn’t agree with your own taste isn’t an excuse to be so rude and unkind about your opinion. Remember you cannot create a fly much less a human being. How would u feel if someone expressed their thoughts about your child like that?

I think her makeup is horrible. She needs to hook up with Joyce Jacobs or any other one of our fabulous MUAs.

What is with everyone and this body shaming? Lupita is a beautiful woman who has a small chest. It is no fault of her own and she should not be insulted for it. Not everyone will be well endowed.

At least she is comfortable in her skin and chooses to embrace the body that she has…..she has a wonderful figure. I’ve seen her in a bikini and she has a nicely toned body.

Not everyone will have big breasts. My breasts are not small at all, nor are they huge. They are a good size, but I hate when people insult others over something they cannot control. Let us uplift our women and make them feel good about their natural body.

      May 14, 2015 at 3:25 pm

I dont think the problem people have is about the no-breast she is created with. Its more of dress appropriately to accentuate what you have while being decent. Its like having a large breasted lady wear an unfit bra, a tight chested clothing that will spill boobs everywhere; it will have people complaining and are you gonna make excuse and say oh well, she was created that way.
And yes, BN you guys are obsessed with her not all your readers, so having to do a full post on her and show us all the bare chest, come on; its scary. She looks like when we were little, that one just purposely take to the rains and play in it, pull your clothes off and play some more, until mama comes calling with a cain

She’s someone I like n admire a lot. Her hair n makeup are nice but her skin is just tooo dry skinny for my liking, I think she needs to add some flesh , just a little.

If Lupita were a Nigerian celebrity, most hypocritical Nigerians calling her ‘beautiful’, wont waste a second to term her ‘ugly’ and brand her different kinds of names.

    • Marie Antoinette

      May 14, 2015 at 4:13 pm

A million likes for this comment. Chic is not beautiful but I like that she’s staying true to her ‘root’ by not lightening her skin tone or wearing weaves. She reps a true black woman and I admire her for that.

    • Annie

      May 16, 2015 at 2:49 pm

The hair style was achieved by adding extensions. That information is in the article.

Whatever anybody thinks about Lupita doesn’t matter.
Boobs or no boobs, black or fair, thin or fat…….whatever!!
What matters is she’s got the right self esteem, self confidence and self love. She’s living her life and loving it., much more than most haters…..
Dem haters can go and d***

Kim k is vain. Jlo is tryin too hard to be sexy. Beyonce is a bad role model. Now lupita is a ‘thing’ either she look beautiful to u or not she is gettin paid. Ppl will always critize odas lik dey are perfect demselves. A beautiful and strong black woman who is proud of her body is a rare ‘thing’ to find dis days.

    May 14, 2015 at 8:46 pm

Who did her makeup? Who did her hair? Who put her in that dress? I hope her style team have not fallen of the cliff o. BN biko enough of this your senseless fawning adulation towards this lady. Obviously Lupita is a pretty lass, but c’mon it is very clear that this look is a complete fail. It needs no explanation – her worst red carpet look so far.
