Tanzanian Mercy Kitomari was a children’s tour guide in London when she got the idea to go start up an ice cream parlour in her home city, Daar es Salaam. She moved back to start Nelwa’s Gelato out of her mother’s kitchen, with Instagram as her primary branding tool.
Since its inception in 2013, Nelwa’s Gelato has grown into a business with 5 employees.
