Fayose to Buhari: Probe Your Supporters Before Fighting Corruption

Ayo Fayose Ekiti

Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, is well-known for being outspoken on all issues relating to governance. And this time, he is speaking out on President Buhari’s ongoing probe of former president Jonathan’s administration.

Fayose expressed his thoughts on the matter via a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.

Here are excerpts from the statement, as reported by Punch:

“Some of those who sponsored the President’s election have not done any other jobs apart from holding public offices. Yet, they provided private jets and funds with which the President campaigned across the length and breadth of Nigeria. He should let Nigerians know where they got money to buy private jets and the several billions of naira spent on his election.

No one sits with corruption to fight corruption because as it is today, President Buhari is sitting among corrupt people and he must first extricate himself from the comity of corruption.

If President Mohammadu Buhari knows exactly where the stolen funds are kept and who looted the funds, he does not need all these public announcements. Rather, he should make public names of the looters and bring back the purported stolen funds, location of which he has identified. It is when he is able to bring back the money that he should make announcements of recovered funds.

You don’t announce a process to the public; rather, you announce the results because that is what is of interest to the people. It is like you are announcing that you know where armed robbers reside, won’t they change their location?

What the All Progressives Congress spin-doctors and their collaborators in the Presidency are doing is simple. It is such that when there is nothing to tell the people as per the rising Boko Haram attacks, dollar and other foreign currencies exchange rates, petrol pump price and other seeming failed promises of the APC Federal Government, they will accuse former President Goodluck Jonathan and his men of corruption, insult Peoples Democratic Party and make noise about fighting corruption.”

Mr. President and his men should know that these planned efforts to brand PDP as a party of corrupt people and suppress the giant strides of the Jonathan administration won’t work because Nigerians know that APC is peopled with more corrupt people and the President must treat the issue of corruption without looking at political parties.”

There’s nothing Buhari can do right in the eyes of PDP. He’s probing Jonathan’s administration. If his supporters were part of his administration then they would be probed too.

Have said this bring on you people who are forever asking what are we doing on the BN blog… We allowed to read and comment on anything so long we are in Africa…

      God bless you my dear.
As long as we still have people who stand for “FAIRNESS” in this world, there’s hope!

good thing you’re not from Nigeria, you said it most African leaders are corrupt, so are you suggesting to let them go scott free after robbing the country blind? what’s the purpose of rules and laws if Justice won’t be upheld when the law is breached
by the way how’s the philosophy of yours helping your country or any other country in Africa for that matter out?

Buhari said He would Probe Jonathan Government and Aides

Let Wike Probe Amaechi! Let Ambode Probe Fashola…Let the Successor Probe the Predecessor

But to tell Buhari to Probe Previous State Governors? That is not His Prerogative! I can smell Foul Play…they are trying to downplay His Anti-Corruption Stance…

Ride On Baba! Probe Everyone that had a share of the National Cake! Including GEJ Himself! Idiots! This Guy almost ‘destroyed’ this Nation.

@Ifeanyi….Obasanjo, Babangida, Abdusallam, T.Y Danjuma, all the past militarily governors built up Nigeria. They used our oil boom money( When Naira was worth more than dollar), and turned Nigeria into Dubai before GEJ got to be president. Selective amnesia is a disease.

Before anyone will start shouting tribalism. GEJ is not from my tribe. No member of my family has served in public office in Nigeria.
      I simply love fairness.
We may choose to forget certain things but history does not. Our children, yet unborn will definite peruse.

I’m glad it makes you happy to write the rubbish above about GEJ destroying the nation. Oh yes, it has to be the one president from an ethnic minority that has destroyed a nation already struggling with its fragments. Just because there has been a GEJ from an area that has made majority of Nigerians who are “more Nigerian” than GEJ rich, including St Buhari himself, he now becomes the destroyer of our “beloved” nation. There is no need making announcements everyday as to what you intend to do about the “kworupt” government and people; just do it. GEJ has not gone anywhere and does not intend to. Stop rubbishing his reputation and get to work.

I don’t think anyone on BN has attacked a non nigerian for commenting on this blog (for no reason) It’s the ones that obviously hate Nigeria, with jealousy spewing from their comments that we talk about. They claim they hate Nigeria and when Nigerian music comes on, they are the first on the dance floor…. They claim they hate Nigeria, yet the live on Bella Naija….Smh…. You on the other hand made a mature comment. I don’t think anyone will attack you for commenting on Nigerian issues. Not being attacked by some die hard APC fans though is something I can’t promise ????

Baba Go Slow de prober, when you probe Tinubu, only then will i know you are serious.

And this idea of not naming ministers yet is a sinister and sly one for Buhari to equally do and undo. who’s there to take count. Prober the prober we dey wait you. But you know what they say “A nation at every point in time in its history, gets the leader it deserves”

Physician heal thyself…. he should start with his party memebers, meanwhile operation#APCBRINGBACKOURMONEY# is actively on in Rivers, as confirmed by Gov. Ortom, Ameachi donated 80% of APC campaign funds for both the presidential and governorship election, Ameachi sold Rivers state, this is the first test for Buhari if he is sincere about this anti corruption campaign, Ameachi must be brought to book, APC must return our money.

Buhari has got 99&1 problems and Fayose isn’t part of it.
Awww Fayo is so pained because PMB hasn’t given him attention.
Baba Fayo, you have access to EFCC, kindly submit your cases and EFCC will be glad to probe them.
See them! Shaking already. Ride on Buhari!! If he chooses to probe past governments its still the same PDP that will suffer. They’ve been the sole party at the top for 16 years.

I am not a fan of Fayose but I agree with everything he said. We are tired of all the “we will probe” and “some ministers stole”. We need names, evidence and court cases of both PDP and APC members. Even APC is not deluded to think that there are no corrupt people in their camp. It’s ironic they are saying all PDP politicians are corrupt when the majority of those wielding power in APC are former PDP members. We continue to watch this movie called Nigeria while waiting for the promised change.

the current admin is most likely probing those who were immune to probing under the former regime. the probing seems skewed because the previous regime was busy probing those outside their party and protecting their own. think about it.

I agree with Fayose after all they say “charity begins at home”. Let PMB start the probing from his house (APC) and rid it of “THE CORRUPT ” then, he can now look out and say NEXT !!!!

  13. Glow

    August 7, 2015 at 3:14 pm

After all said, PMB can only succeed in curbing corruption if the right institutions are put in place to curb and prevent stealing or embezzlement from both public and private sectors of the economy. Otherwise, it will just be a chasing after the wind.
