This Adesua woman is a good actor but I’m confused why she always chooses sexual roles to play? She’s constantly kissing or doing unnecessary sex scenes and gets praised for it because she’s not a ‘conventional beautiful’, if she looked like Beyonce people would be calling her roles slutty, but because she has an Afro she’s ‘artistic’ lol
    What a joke!
She needs to expand and vary the roles she accepts unless she’s happy to be typecast as a one trip pony who ONLY specialises in sex scenes!

I agree. Saw Shuga and her first scene was a kissing scene lololololol
Neva thought about the natural hair sturvs b4 but I
See what you mean, Afrocentrism has become a door way for slack behaviour. Wear an Afro and get a pass ??

Well, actually, her two most well known performances are not sexualized at all. Knocking on Heavens Door, and Gidi Up, as well as her stage shows. But I guess you chose to ignore those right? smh.

Lmao this made me laff die!!! I agree with the double standard, I work for a large advertising & media house and it is true that Nubian looking women are associated with ‘knowledge and wisdom’ and can push the sexual boundaries further with less criticism… It’s a complex subject but there is truth to it. I am not a huge fan of African cinema but have seen a few of her projects and she does kiss a lot, maybe that’s what she does best? Maybe she’s a freak! Maybe she just chooses those types of roles because she wants to kiss men in set and get paid! Good luck to her lol

How is this a sexual role? After reading your comment I thought I’d see her clothes off throughout the trailer. There were two scenes with her kissing her partner and yes probably about to sex him (*gasp* we must call the church elders because people in relationships never do that! That’s why every Nigerian is a virgin) The other scenes clearly tell other aspects of the story and one out of three pictures showed her kissing. I saw her in Gidi Up and Brave and there was nothing sexual there either. I think it is okay to say she doesn’t run around picking only movies where she has to hump. You can ask her sha to clarify.

Desmond Elliot – you sound ridiculous when you start forming accent with the “rrrrrrrr” Stop that nonsense. You have never lived abroad, you just travel here sometimes so why are you trying to fake your accent. Do you have that much of a low self esteem of our very own nigerian accent that now you have to fake with an american accent sounding ridiculous as hell, do you hear yourself?.Do ou know how that makes you look

Mr RRRRRRRRRRRR all of a sudden here is now phonet-rized to “Herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.”

  5. Trained Actress

    September 18, 2015 at 2:27 am

From, my name, you already know that I am not here for the simple minded, bigotry. An actors’ work is simply to do his/her character justice (we must not judge or re-create them, or tamper with them; we are just vehicles of communication for our characters to he heard, seen and felt). If an actor is chosen to play a character, he or she must be fully devoted to that role. Now, have you seen her breast or vagina, no you have not, because they are not necessary to play the role. She is an actor, this is probably the most kissing she does in her life, most of us are just simple people who would rather stay home and eat fried fish and plantain than go out. Just because she plays character role (roles that are more “human like”), does not make her a whore or whore-ish. She is a young, beautiful woman, chances are she is going to get cast in ingenue roles. So don’t blame her, blame the casting directors.

Her roles are very diverse, and as a trained actor, she does in-depth character study. She hasn’t ever done anything just for show; if she kisses, it has a purposes, it has to serve the story. There is no such thing as two people who are truly involve without passion. Even people who save them selves for marriage; man when they hold each others hands, its like they are making love. I should know, lol. There are many actors who are virgins, who play or have played what you may consider crazy roles.

Finally, I have just one small little thing to add, “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones/” If cameras followed your lives, I wonder what they would find. This woman is an artist, at the end of the day, when the director say “cut” she stops kissing, and goes home. Regardless of what hair she wears, she is still beautiful and her characters are always honest. You should applaud her story telling skills rather than to spend a second critiquing a person you don’t know. Carry on.

      Nah wahooo….
Adesua thank you for the sermon “trained actress” in kissing!! ??

      September 19, 2015 at 10:31 pm

Aimee, you need to be kissed obviously… Sad thing is, these actors obviously don’t know you exist! They are doing their jobs- and very well too. If you tried to focus on yours, maybe you’d appreciate the art of others without sounding like you’re unhappy with your own life. Halle Berry is a slut for doing Monster’s Ball…So is Julia Roberts…Omotola…Genevieve. When they act like real life women in love, they are sluts…Lets burn them all!!! Coming from a woman too? What a total shame

    • Samson J

      September 18, 2015 at 10:06 am

Hmm I think that speech was a little self ritious and condescending! Look at the pictures they chose to use to advertise this project? She is half naked with her legs spread open about to have sex! Method acting indeed!
I haven’t read a comment yet critiquing her acting ability, the comments seem to be questioning her roles choices and the double standards we place on black female beauty!
For example if she were fat woman playing these roles people would be saying “wow she’s confident and embracing her curves, big and bold” ?

I’ll be watching. @Simi, I am guessing he is playing the part of a returnee? Might not be well executed but I don’t think he is putting on an accent for the sake of it.

  8. Me 2 you

    September 18, 2015 at 1:03 pm

Women, you all are wicked. Is she the only one kissing there? No one has said anything about blossom or Kunle kissing.

Yes they chose the pictures that would sell, because you lunatics indoors love such. You all come here and run down women without even knowing them. You all tried your best to run down TOKE…where she de now, being sent to big time jobs you can only dream of.

Adesuwa, ignore these sex starved ladies, who only wish to be you, but remember never to show your body.

Now to the real Topic, this is going to be a great film, and i must watch it

It’s unfortunate that WOMEN assume the criticism can only come from other women… It shows the true feelings on the matter. some of the comments are a little harsh but I do agree that’s she does a lot of unnecessary kissy kissy in her movies. Lol
I also agree that their is a double standard for females dependant on their exterior…. #Fact!!
We cannot argue that she gets away with more slack behaviour because she has natural hair. I as a man am guilty of making judgements about women based on how they make their hair or style of dress….
As for Kunle rhemmy, that one is a known gigolo who sleeps with men and women… Wouldn’t expect anything more from him lololololol
Blossom is a class A actor who has taken on varied roles, he can be wooden at times but he is a brilliant actor all the same.
Yet to be impressed with Adesua, she just seems to have a lot of hype behind her ?
The trailer looks ok. Hopefully it lives up to the hype

    Interesting comments lol
I went to see the movie yesterday and it’s very well acted, however Adesuwa gets pregnant for a man while her husband is in a coma! ?
She obviously enjoy roles where she has to kiss and act out sex scenes, do you boo!

Just to add every actor has there strengths and playing the love interest is obviously hers. She doesn’t strike me a someone who can do comedy or a role that will stretch her beyond playing a wife/girlfriend

Lol. You people are hilarious really. I think Adesuwa is one of the much better actresses. She was great in Knocking on heaven’s door, I guess you guys much preferred that where she was getting battered….. I’ll be watching this one and I’d rather she’s being kissed than beaten.

Aimee we are still waiting for you to list all the movies and scenes you claim Adesewa has done with is all sex scenes.

We are waiting for you to list them. See how simple minded and stupid you made yourself look by making a nonsensical statement you can’t even back up.

Oyah we are still waiting , list all her supposed sex scene movies. I am afan of hers since knocking on heavens door and watched all her movies, so I don’t know what the hell u are talking about. Admit it, your comment was nonsensical and basic with nothing to back up. Shame on you. Its bad enough we don’t have enough good actresses in Nollywood, the few we have folks like you want to put down or make baseless critiques they can’t even backup. Shame on you.
