L'Oréal Paris Ad Campaign - BellaNaija - September 2015005A group of beautiful ladies, all dressed in rosy pink, swooning to the sound of your voice. What more could John Legend ask for?

In the new campaign for L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche lipstick line campaign, the award winning singer is surrounded by L’Oréal Paris ambassadors – Blake Lively, Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts, Liya Kebede, Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Eva Longoria, Jane Fonda, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Leila Bekhti, Fan Bingbing, Ines de la Fressange and Natasha Poly, all dressed in rose pink outfits, and rocking the new shade of lipstick. Some of the ladies do not appear in the campaign images released.

The collection’s new exclusive range has each shade named after an ambassador. Now, we just have to buy Blake’s so we can hopefully snag a man like Ryan Renolds.

Well since you know Liya is “supposedly black”. And a black man is swooning the women so I guess all is settled.

I don’t know why blacks are always looking for validation? Even if there aren’t any blacks in the campaign so what? Do you need a campaign to tell you you aren’t any less of a woman than the woman in the campaign?

This is where I tell you to have several seats. Most of these countries make HUGE bucks from Africa. It would be nice to see people who truly represent Africa in these main stream commercials. You wonder why people are bleaching and doing all manner of things to their bodies these days. It’s a lovely commercial . @Akpeno was only asking.

It’s not “Validation” we are looking for…. we’re are looking for representation! As June rightly said, we spend millions of dollars or naira or rands on their products and so it’s only right that we’re properly represented in their campaigns…. We need to know how to speak up even when we get shot down saying we always complain… yes we should complain when we are not properly represented. Having a black man “swoon” over white or white looking women does nothing for us. We need to see black men swooning over black women. Whether we like it or not these images and messages are subconsciously stored in our children’s minds and are manifested later in adult hood… i.e. black men preferring white or white looking partners and black women striving to be “White-like”(For the lack of a better term) bleaching weaves surgery and so on…

So my dear yes it’s a beautiful commercial but it is not completely representative of it’s market… All races of women use their products and all races of women are uniquely beautiful whether they are African, European, Australian, Asian, Middle Eastern, And the Americas and ALL should be accurately represented.
