They keep choosing girls that can’t win on an international stage. Short or light skinned girls. Waste of time. Miss Borno should have won, if it was fair.

      She’s 1.82m ie 5 ft 11 inches tall….definitely not short….she’s intelligent with good diction.
these pageant pics don’t do her justice…check out her everyday pictures….she’s beautiful and elegant.

Well, the winner this time is 6ft, dark, intelligent and smart too. She deserves the crown. Miss Borno is tall, yes, but she wasn’t confident, folding her hands together and looking obviously nervous.

I do not disagree with this at all, only thing is that they just give people random state. I wonder where she is originally from because she was to be and started as Ms Lagos last year then she pulled out because of exams.

By the way, Congrats girrrr it was deservedl. Melanin popping and all BUT the organizers can do so much better. Gosh

How could Miss Gombe win Photogenic. I checked all the aavailable photos, I’m still wondering.
I don’t know how Edo found her way to the top 5. Her foundation/powder was terrible. Her accent was ridiculous.
I liked Kano (even though she had a lopsided smile), Ebonyi and Anambra.
Ebonyi seemed very confident she would win. I thought she would bite Anambra when she hugged her. (hmmm …… any pre-show tricks involved?)

Quite disappointed with the show, the Male MC, MC Galaxy, Kiss Daniel (i love him, but his performance wasn’t good), the Governor’s outfit, the bored audience, the contestants not having their sashes on for like 2 of their presentations?

    let me stop ranting abeg.
Till next year, when we’ll go through the same vexation.

I am happy they chose Miss Anambra. She is beautiful, she was Miss Lagos 2014 but she pulled out of MBGN because she had exams. The reason there are many Igbo girls is because the organizers give them states to represent after choosing the girls they want. I hope she can represent on the world stage. ???

I didn’t expect her to win knowing the organizers fixation with light skinned girls but it seems having a judging panel dominated by women helped. I also heard she had the highest number of votes and she answered very well and intelligently, kudos to her. Is it just me or did you guys notice the large number of Senators and government officials sitting in front? Old old men looking for girls to garnish. What is the prize sef?.

    • Bobonkiti

      October 25, 2015 at 6:15 am

Yes mrs Chidukane, you are correct. They are looking for girls to devour then on Sundays go to church and dance or mosque on Fridays.Tax payers money is not used to help the poor, struggling Nigerians who cant eat twice a day are there they wunt help them but they sat there eyes wide opened, mouth watering at the site of girls their children’s age. Thanks to doctor Godwin Maduka of Anambara who spends his money putting smiles on poor peoples faces.

Why blame these men when they’re the reason the contestants are doing this. Pretty, decent Nigerian girls don’t participate in beauty pageants anymore, and we all know that. It’s now become a runs girls hustle move.

    October 24, 2015 at 11:09 pm

Igbos girls are too much even representing other states. Blessed with beauty and brains #Igbokwenu

    • Nma

      October 25, 2015 at 8:15 pm

Not necessarily. Doesn’t mean that they’re too much. You’ll hardly see Hausa babes in paegents, they don’t have time for it. Some Yoruba babes contest, but not the majority. Basically Igbo babes like contests a lot, I should know, and we represent other states it doesn’t necessarily mean the girls are too much. I mean, do you expect the Hausa girls to actually contest for Miss. Kadana, Kano, Katsina and the likes? Yeah, I thought so too.

    • Bruness

      October 26, 2015 at 9:38 am

@Nma “You’ll hardly see Hausa babe’s in pageants, they don’t have time for it” I disagree with you on that. You’ll hardly see Hausa girls in pageants because their religion forbids it. So if no indigene wants to represent their state and some one from another tribe does it for them Ibo or any other tribe alike. They are too much!! I didn’t watch the contest but if majority are saying Miss Anambra deserves it then congratulations to her for a job well done. I hope she represent herself, family, state and Nigeria well.

The top 5 answered intelligently. But I must commend miss Ebonyi – she is an exceptional beauty and she’s very confident too, but I think her height didn’t work for her; she is not tall (she reminds me of Anna Banner). I didn’t want her to win cos her height won’t do Nigeria good at the international stage. Good she finished 2nd place!
I too used to say MBGN cheats, but they got it right this time – this is a well deserved victory; she is dark, beautiful, tall and importantly, answered her question smartly. #MBGN 2015 #Respect

Nigerians, very funny humans. You were asked to vote and which will determine the top 15. You didnt vote and now you criticize. Thats very silly!!! All those top 15 got the highest vote (check the official website). Miss Anambra got the highets vote. Likes on Facebook and comments also made añ impact reason Miss Níger won the best traditional . The organisers left the fans to decide the winner this year. So many of you never cared and now you rún your mouths. Abegi, make una leave them to rep Naija at world stage or is it your money? They got nothing to loose. #BigDreams

      October 25, 2015 at 12:55 am

My dear this is no criticism compared to when Anna Banner won – hers was an obvious cheat, it was a sham and we all saw how it ended with her getting pregnant for flavour as a 2nd baby mama – becoming a bad role model for young girls looking up to her because she had no laid out plan and focus for her life, going into MBGN.
Unoaka Anyadike’s is well deserved, but you don’t expect everybody to be on your page; beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder. I also hope out-gone queen Ihuoma Nnadi does well, and doesn’t disappoint our expectation of her continuing being a role model to young people. BN post my comment

I got scared when it was just the two ladies yet to be announced. I was like not again! Not a repeat of Anna Banner vs Stephanie Okwu! I was like make MBGN no just try am and am glad they didn’t. If Miss Ebonyi had won, our chances at the world stage would go down because she isn’t tall. Yes, she is very confident and charismatic, but her finishing 2nd serves Nigeria better. So kudos silverbird tv and congratulations to the winner!

And what was Miss Lagos wearing as evening gown? It would have been better she went topless. Girl, spreading your breast out like that in the cold? What was she thinking? Didn’t she or hasn’t she watched previous MBGN events, to know that modesty does it. Last year winner, Iheoma Nnadi, wore one of the simplest and decent evening gowns. And this year, Miss Ebonyi and Edo foreign accent couldn’t do it for them, rather it was the ‘Nigerian’ Miss Anambra that won. Miss Abuja was too tensed that she forgot her posture and composure when she was answering her question.

I can count the number of times I have seen comments about a dark skinned girl winning the competition, hmm are the light skinned girls not Nigerians too?

  46. Umbrella

    October 25, 2015 at 8:28 am

I actually think the contestants looked wayyyy better in person, those pictures did not do them any justice. I love that Miss Anambra was very “authentic” with her accent. These girls forget that trying to put up an accent adds more stress to an already stressful competition. I was embarrassed for Miss Edo, her accent sounded more Liberian than anything else. Miss Borno is fierce!!!! High fashion modelly look… I think she will do GREAT in any modelling competition. Miss Ebonyi is beautiful and overly confident. I already see her making headlines on tabloids and blogs (hopefully for the right reasons). Congrats Miss Anambra. She looks a bit like Linda Ikeji. So I have a question- Since the MBGN produces Miss World and Miss Universe contestants what then is the essence of (or reward for) Miss Nigeria since they don’t get to compete in international competitions? Isn’t the Miss Nigeria competition supposed to be more accredited and competitive? Thoughts?

  47. chido

    October 25, 2015 at 9:30 am

The winner deserves the crown, she was the best contestant that answered her question without craming the ans, the others had ther ans already in thr head. Mrs ebonyi went to touch the mic, a queen doesn’t do that, miss abj removed her hands on her waist to ans quest, wch shldnt be done, and 2ndly a queen doesn’t expose her legs, dnt knw y Miss Edo got thr, mayb it wasn’t a criteria to get to MBGN bt she pretty, MBG world criteria shldnt expose legs, Mrs brono was good with her walking steps, bt am sure her carriage didn’t tk her 2 top 5,am sure MBGN shld strt asking the top 15 questions,in that way the top 5 can be selected, cos they don’t give others d opp to shw hw intelligent they are. Am happy for the winners.

Pls this comment is not to cause drama but dammn year in year out we have most of the contestants from the eastern part of the country. Are the parents just more liberal or what is the reason for the number of babe’s from the east every year contesting.

    • Errr

      October 25, 2015 at 2:53 pm

Has very little to do with ‘liberal parents’ Each state has ‘primaries’ before a representative is chosen. At those primaries others of other tribes also contest, Eastern girls just happen to always win the primaries – u get?

    • Mrs. T

      October 26, 2015 at 2:23 am

Errr: They don’t happen to always win. Unlike other regions, they’re more enthusiastic and obsessed with paegents. From past competitions, majority of them contest and go for the auditions. Other regions may contest and audition, but not as much as Esatern girls. I somehow get was Sass is trying to say.

    • Abk

Yea, no one’s stopping them. Who said anyone was? They just are particularly unconcerned about paegents.

  51. NG

    October 25, 2015 at 3:55 pm

Naija and the new fad of bringing ethnicity question into every discussion. I have been forced into higher awareness of this in just these last months. Well the questions popping up around Igbo babes on this pageant forced the awareness on me that Igbo ladies are really fine. I just took stock and in all truthfulness, in my family alone, over 90% of girls are really fine. The other 10% are OK but comparatively not so fine. I have also done same mental check and the story is the same in the office. Beauty gene I guess. Hoping all these will ensure more fierce challenge next year.

  52. Sunday

    October 25, 2015 at 4:47 pm

Sass, the way the pageant is run, the organizers want the best looking females in Nigeria and they don’t care if they all come from a particular region or two. During auditions, so many girls from different parts of Nigeria audition. Then, the organizers choose the best among the ones that auditioned and assign states to them. It has nothing to do with liberal eastern parents as some delusional people would want you to believe. Look up some YouTube videos of their auditions and you will see all sorts of girls from every part of Nigeria. Nobody is stopping any non-south east or south south girl that thinks she has what it takes to contest yet you hardly see them chosen for the final 36 but when an Igbo girl wins they start claiming that the pageant is for runs girl to console themselves. I hope my answer does not generate drama as well.

    • Abk

      October 26, 2015 at 2:33 am

“the organizers want the best looking females in Nigeria and they don’t care if they all come from a particular region ”
Really? I get your point. But that particular remark, I wasn’t sure if I should shake my head, raise my eyebrows or laugh.
The best looking females in Nigeria are just from the East? Please take a trip to the North, West, South South. They’re beautiful girls oll over Nogeria. That comment is/was an absolute joke. Try to be more realistic when making analysis’.
Look, no ones saying the East shouldn’t contest. It’s just an observation that majority of the girls that contest are from that region. They’re not saying it’s bad, they’re just trying to point out that unlike other tribes, they really have a strong influence and are taken up by paegents. Other tribes are not complaining or angry, I’m sure they are uninterested about contesting for MBGN, it was just an observation.

“Forget the dark skin/light skin talks”…..Really???….Miss Ebonyi has a beautiful complexion but she is not fine , She is confident and that is very good however, her upper lip is almost touching her nose. Her face is beans-shaped with fat cheeks. MISS AKWA IBOM should have taken her place.

I doubt many northern girls audition for paegents as most northern parents would not hear of it. True that no one stops other ethnic groups from participating but it would be nice to see girls from more regions since they’ve now cancelled the bikini part on Miss World platform. I remember when Agbani won and I was so in awe of her, I was just a little girl and I had told my dad that I’ll eat beans everyday so I could grow tall like Agbani and be a beauty queen. Haha! My dad had said “Baby girl, no daughter of mine is parading naked. Eat your beans and become anything else. Ya already a queen so gbo” (paraphrased). Well, that was that with beans.
My point is many other conservative parents think along those lines.
Unoaku is a very beautiful queen. I was rooting for her

Leave matter Miss Anambra looked like a Queen even before dem announce say she win. She radiated. Had this smile that just reaches out and grabs you! And when she responded to that climate change question, i knew that she was the obvious winner. Me wey no know say any beauty pageant sabi wetin be climate change! (God forgive me). The babe just had to win biko. She will stand out at the world stage too, I expect that.

I also watch MBGN 2013 where Anna Banner won. No reason why she should have won o. Granted, she is/was very pretty but she was only a fine face and nothing else.

Unoaku on the other hand has grace and carriage, una for watch the thing confirm with una mouth o! She just had to win. Miss Ebonyi tried too, but I think she was too confident, her mind don tell am say she go win.

They are all beautiful, but if culture permits the northern ladies participate, it will certainly change the results. Nigerians are beautiful

Bella naija pls tell people to vote for Unoaku for Miss World 2015. She’s currently #20, If she wins (or at least gets close to it) it will be good publicity for Nigeria and we will all be proud. Please put something up telling people to vote for her. The link to vote is lvka168.com/missworld/vote/nga the site is in Chinese but you can change the language to English at the top right corner.

Many people agree she did well at MBGN pls let’s support her.
    Thank you so much!
