Tesslo Concepts Lagos Islandpic50_FotorYouth and political advocate Ohimai Godwin Amaize aka Mr. Fix Nigeria is front and center of the new Tesslo Concepts look book. Tesslo Concepts is interestingly owned by Tessy Oliseh-Amaize, wife to Ohimai.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the collection, Tessy Oliseh-Amaize had this to say:

I was at Isale Eko market in Lagos Island when I stumbled on these set of plaid fabrics that caught my attention. It was like that moment when your eyes open up to something you never knew existed before. The more I stared at the fabrics, the more it dawned on me that everything we need to give Versace, Armani, Gucci, D&G and the rest a run for their money is right here.

I just felt this rush of anger and excitement at the same time and promised myself I was going to make a collection out of these fabrics that will make Nigerians really proud. That’s how the Lagos Island collection was born.

Most Nigerian designers get their fabrics from Lagos Island or Yaba market so there’s nothing new about this. The collection is so mediocre.

I don’t believe you! I can feel the hate from my computer. Na wa! Which one you don sew for your life.
If she bought them from Yaba and made these crispy designs, kudos. I love the mix and match ones. Refreshing! Well done, Tessy. Nice to see a man supporting his wife’s dreams.

*hands the ankara designs respectfully to Jesus*- fix it Master. J. lol. I love the suits, they are sharp and quite nice.. I am rarely impressed by men designs/ clothing. It is sooo difficult to design for men without crossing the boundary into ridiculous, so I always feel sorry for male fashion designers ‘cos they cannot be as creative as women fashion designers can, and I judge them with the same standard I would female clothing designers. It seems like they cannot win. But these suits are crisp.

These are really good. Love the ankara jumpsuit if that’s what it’s called.
