WAI BrigadeThe Federal government on Monday said it is repositioning the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) Brigade, previously introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari during his military regime between 1983 and 1985.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) said it is set to reposition the Brigade for enhanced civil intelligence gathering toward an orderly and secure society in line with the Change mantra of the present administration.

Director General of NOA, Garba Abari made this known at a workshop organized by the Agency for the Brigade, stressing that in this era of insecurity, violence and other forms of social vices, the role of the WAI Brigade in civil intelligence gathering cannot be over emphasized. He said the federal government believes that WAI Brigade members across the country should be encouraged to redouble their vigilance in the local governments, the wards and their various villages in order to contribute their quota towards building a secure society.

Abari noted that its essence was to instill discipline in our society and support the fight against corruption. He said the ills and woes that bedeviled the nation at that time are still very much with us, necessitating the efforts of the Brigade to help fight against social vices.

“The present administration has declared its intention to re-launch the Brigade for better performance and bring its activities to the fore” Abari stated, charging members of the Brigade to contribute their quota to make the Change mantra of this administration a reality.

In his remarks, the WAI Brigade National Commander, Mustapha Muhammad commended the Agency’s commitment to the Change mantra of the present administration and called on members to sustain the tempo of responsibility despite non-funding from the government for over three decades.

He called on the Federal Government to officially recognize and gazette the Brigade as it is the only voluntary organization in Nigeria that is the brain-child of the Federal Government of Nigeria. He therefore urged NOA to work out modalities for the recognition of the WAI Brigade for greater efficiency.

    Dear FG,

Y’all are inconsistent, dumb nincompoops. We have OPC, KAI, FRSC, Police, Civil defence, army. Now you bring back WAI. Are you this dumb!!! we have major burning economic issues that need solving, All you could do was bring more agberos to the system of already existing agberos. May God have mercy and you and save this country.

Dear FG and President Buhari, “”reposition”” this:

“””The fact that in the judgment delivered by the United State District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division, USA, in criminal No 1: 07CR209, that indicted the US Congressman, Williams Jefferson, it was mentioned that $170,000 was transferred from account in Nigeria in the name of Aisha Buhari to an account in the name of The ANJ Group, LLC, identifying William Jefferson as beneficiary.””

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. OMG. This administration is going to be a great Hollywood movie. The script no get rival. I hope Nollywood is securing the rights to the movie. Make I ask – how can an acutely hungry mind be disciplined? How does one practice discipline in the face of extinction when your animal instincts are turned up to the max?

Look at these hungry looking Daura people, wearing nauseating green asoebi all in the name of WAI. They look like green lizards. The truth is that these ones will target the common man. Ofcourse someone like Tinubu or elrufai or their descendants, can never be involved in indiscipline. Buhari would have defined indiscipline to them using his “target population” principle, just like he defined corruption as something pdp members do.all the same, what do you expect? He doesn’t know much, besides fighting(fighting and waring against corruption or discipline). With this man, words like development and progress left Nigeria for other locations. God please return our joy in this country

I died at your entire comment especially the nauseating green asoebi, hahahahaha! Like someone said, someone probably proposed it to the federal government. Such happens in my home state all the time. Someone will propose a body, give them a job description, name it, provide them with uniforms, pay off the Governor and then go about harassing people so as to recover the money spent.

The same WAI that was flogging Nigerians mercilessly in public places, on queues, with whips. WAI and soldiers would flog Nigerians and make them do frog jumps. WAI would flog Nigerians, make them do frog jumps, inflict their sadistic cruelty on them at gunpoint/under the guns of soldiers standing by.

Many Nigerians were fired from their jobs because they could not recite the Nigerian National Anthem and National Pledge.

So many bizarre incompetencies and cruelties happened under Buhari’s regime. Special military tribunals were set up to try politicians and at the end, they were handed some really incredible jail sentences. For instance, the late Alhaji Barkin Zuwo, who had been elected the Governor of Kano State, could not help burst out laughing when the military tribunal sent him to 250 years in prison. He laughed really hard at the idea that he would be leaving prison in 2234.

Those of you who refused to hear word, who ignored, disbelieved or tried to rewrite history. You have gotten and are getting what you voted for. You must rejoice. You have received and are receiving still, what you wished for. Rejoice. The history you chose to ignore is repeating itself. Your chickens have come home to roost.

You are a student of history. I applaud you. Most of the young people hailing Buhari were either too young or never had anyone tell them some history.

Hmmnnn I don’t mind this at all, as Nigeria is a lawless and indisciplined country and I believe we indeed do need a firm hand.
BUT I smell the possible Abuse of the power of this agency by the powers that be in the agency itself and also possibly the federal government.
Who vets the agencies activities and determines if they are going overboard or not? Will it be an independent body or the federal government?

The group existed during his military presidenc and they just went around violating human rights and abusing people. What benefit is that in a free democratic society? He got away with it and now wants to bring it back. What indiscipline is worse than giving pilgrims dollar when you won’t give business men and students?
Abeg leave in disciple alone and face policy that helps .

Is it WAI that will put food on our tables. Is is WAI that will turn the economy around. Is it WAI that will bring down the dollar price. Is it WAI that will prevent the country from sinking into deep recession. This current government, the financial minister and the CBN governor are totally clueless as to the way forward. WAI my a**………..

misplaced priorities! there are more than enough law enforcement agencies/bodies/organisations. we need positive economic changes and fiscal policies that are not detrimental to the ordinary nigerian

Henn, Enheeeen. This is how it starts. Very soon, girls will be flogged openly for wearing trousers and weave. As in, “unruly” Nigerians – whip them into line!!!
What war is Buhari fighting in a democracy?. Nigerians una buy market! A leopard can never change it’s spots. Some of us saw this coming.

This was something from a past administration and yet he is blaming past adminstration. Why bringing what was done in the military regime into a Democratic era? Are we going back or forward. We refuse to live in the past. Clearly this man had no agenda for this country.
