OAP Freeze weighs in on Pastor Sam Adeyemi’s #MentalHealth Comments – “increase in Churches, is in symphony with increase in mental health”

OAP Freeze shared his two cents on Daystar Pastor Sam Adeyemi’s trending thoughts on mental health.

***

Before brainwashed Naija folks start their usual ‘judge not’, let me seek guidance from the words of Apostle Paul from the book of;

1st Corinthians 6:3 KJV
[3] Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Also to shut down the “touch not my anointed” verse that many pastors use as immunity from persecution, here is another bible verse that gives me the right to answer this.

1 John 4:1 KJV
[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

———————–
Armed with these 2 verses, I have the right to ‘judge’ and ‘try’ every spirit, to ensure that neither I, nor God’s sheep, are defrauded spiritually.

Mental illness, as defined by Mayo Clinics, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. Now, according to recent reports, mental health experts in Nigeria have raised an alarm over the increase in cases of mental disorder in this country, and have called for adequate facilities and personnel to curb it. This also comes at a point when the Church has seen dramatic and explosive growth in Asia, Africa and South America. The growth of the African Church in particular is jaw-dropping according to Christianity.com!

Now, if the number of churches are increasing and the number of mental cases are increasing as well, isn’t it safe to suggest statistically, that the increase in Churches, is in symphony with increase in mental health disorders? The burden of this blame, with the evidence provided above, is too heavy to be placed on sin alone, as the noise from one church having 4 branches on the same street, is enough to spike insomnia and depression.

Furthermore, many pastors take the little money their poor congregation has with promises of tremendous returns, which more often than not never materialize, leading to depression and increase in mental health disorders. A friend of mine, who attends a new generation Pentecostal church, told me that her pastor told the poor people who came to beg for alms in the church, to bring the little they have, so that God can increase it! Imagine that!

The state of the Nigerian economy cannot be left out, neither can thecurse of crude oil’ which destroyed most of our other sources of revenue, leading the nation to mindlessly squander its resources, neglecting production and agriculture, slowly leading the nation into bankruptcy.

Dear Pastor Adeyemi,

According to an article on www.bbc.co.uk which states; “We have tended to think of psychological illnesses as a uniquely human trait. But that may be wrong. There is growing evidence that many animals can suffer from mental health disorders similar to those seen in humans. These unfortunate animals could help us understand how and why humans become mentally ill, and why these debilitating disorders ever evolved at all.”
———————-
Growing evidence suggests that animals also suffer mental illness, is this due to sin too?

Remember the instance in the bible where a blind man was healed and the disciples asked if he sinned and Jesus said no?

John 9:2-3 KJV
[2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Flawed logic, but we get your point.

The logic/premise is so flawed I can’t even believe a grown man wrote this.
Freeze there are so many things on the increase – e.g. Verbal diarrhea OAP’s weighing in on every issue.
do we now link them all to the rise in mental illness?

I knew it!! I knew it was only a matter of time before Freeze weighed in with his ‘two cents’

Just have to say this line cracked me up ” the noise from one church with 4 branches on the same street, is enough to spike insomnia and depression” lol so true. And now I’ve gone and agreed with Freeze on one thing.

PS: The most important discussion to be having is the apparent unlimited source of Freeze’s wealth. How come the guy is always giving away his ‘two cents’ and it never seems to finish. Seriously, whats he’s secret?

His secret is he survives on the media to stay relevant. The moment we all ignore him and pretend we don’t even see his posts, he’l become ‘broke’ with no more ‘cents’ to give out and that wld literally result to his death! Like dead-silent irrelevant Freeze moment death! ?

How come ”Pickin Freeze” is always looking for fault in almost everything? From Pastors to celebrities, he pokes his nose into everything like a dog.
Some spiritual knowledge or revelations can’t be revealed to carnal man like ”Pickin Freeze”. The difference between them is that, Pastor Sam has revelation while Block / Freeze has quoted information.
    I tire for this man?

The stigma attached to mental illness is bad enough this pastor will now worsen it by labelling them sinners??? Why are we like this? Psychiatrists have to battle pastors to treat patients because of nonsense preaching like this. Can pastor Sam adeyemi manage a mental health patient? Pastors should concern themselves only with the heavenly concerns of their members they have absolutely no business with health care delivery.

He tweeted about mental health professionals as well. But labeling it a sin just made the entire conversation go left

Believing that fairy tale book and a white God who impregnanted a blonde caucasian virgin , to have a son with a Spanish name, from the middle east and supposedly a Jew whom he sacrificed to himself to save the world is the height of mental illness….An imaginary White God who is very disinterested in African affairs….Bunch of baloney …for mental health patients….

I am a daystar member and pastor sam preached about mental illness on sunday. When he started, I was wondering what concerns mental illness with sunday preaching but he connected it from a biblical angle. I am perplexed at the way people are just jumping to conclusion over one tweet without reading the other ones pastor sam tweeted. As christians we know that nothing happens in the physical without the spiritual. He quoted several scriptures about not been fearful, about having the peace of God, about not been anxious particularly in the recession time because we know anxiety can bring stress on the mind. He sighted the example where Jesus healed the man with the legion of demons and others. What pastor sam was trying to do was demystify mental illness. he advocated for them that they need help from all of us. He also said not all mental issues are demonic as It might be a case of hormonal imbalances in the head and proper medical attention should be sought. To be honest, is sin not the root cause of sickness whether physical or mental. Exodus 23:25 says But you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst. Pastor Sam’s intentions was not to mislead anybody. He just wanted us as a society to help the mentally ill.

uncle, even if you want to criticize, please apply common sense . that awks moment you attempt to use someone more intelligent than you to shine and you end up exposing your foolishness.

Whether any of you mortals like it or not, bottom line is that the root/foundation of all issues of one’s life is sin…try cleaning up your life with God and stay obedient and see if you will not be fruitful…Morons always want to argue with their manufacturer!!! Like u know better than He who created you. NUISANCES!!!

Muyiwa if we can’t tell our pastor the truth, we are even worse . I spoke to someone who was present and he said he was in shock, it started off well until that statement on cause and solution. Pastor Sam is well loved and people expect more. We understand his point, but this is wrong and extremely misleading. If you don’t have the gutts to say it, be quiet pls. No need!

Wisdom they say,is profitable to direct. So is common sense. The root cause of mental illness is sin, the same way the Bible says the root cause of “death” is sin. Not that when you due, it means you sinned. It just means sin is what brought about death in the first place.
For those who know the Bible, kindly reference Deutoronomy and Thessaloniand to see where God says because of sin, he would afflict the people with “confusion of the mind”.
. “The Lord will smite you with madness, blindness and with bewilderment of heart” (Deut 28:27-29)
    b. “God will send upon them a deluding influence (delusion) so that they will believe what is false” (2 Thess 2:11)
Sometimes we pay for sin as a generation rather than because of some sin you committed individually.
Strong meat is not for those who only drink milk.
Daddy Freeze- seek to understand before you seek to be understood.
