Ohaneze Youth Petition UN, Demands “Special Protection” & Referendum

Ohaneze, Petition, UNThe Ohaneze Youth Council, the umbrella body for all pan-Igbo youth groups on Tuesday said they had petitioned the United Nations demanding “special protection” for Igbos in the North.

According to Punch , the group said that this is in response of the letter sent to the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo by the coalition of Northern youths.

The petition also called for steps toward a referendum in Igboland “to finally determine the fate of their people.”

Nigeria unity is non negotiable. We igbos are not getting any referendum. We don’t need it we have built this called nigeria it’s ours from the far north to the deep South. I believe in One Nigeria and I am 1 million % Igbo. My dad fought in Biafra war from Enugu to Umuahia in 1967 to 1970 he was 18 years old when he was drafted. He agree with me on this issue.

I am proudly Igbo and I am not in support of a referendum. We need to forget about Biafra and embrace #OneNigeria

Considering the antecedent of unprovoked killings of Igbos in Northern Nigeria, i don’t blame Ohaneze for this.
Even though some Northern leaders have spoken against the ultimatum by the Arewa Youth group and the VP has called for peace, who will be there to protect the Igbos in the North come Oct 1st?
I will still enjoin the Igbos to get out of the North before that date and only return when they are sure there is no threat to their lives.
A word is enough for the wise. Let the lessons of the past not be in vain.

@Agu please go and read th Yugoslavia story,do you know how many countries came out there? you cannot force people who don’t want to stay together to stay together!!!
Is like in marriage , when one partner is tired, it’s very difficult for it to work!!! There is deep resentment right now I and all I see Osinbanjo do is carry on with threats, it’s not going to work!!! If he likes , let him continue to jump like grasshopper from one group to the other, there must be a restructuring of Nigeria, if not this country will burn to the ground!!! The North has to go, the are Nigerian’s problems!!! They are the most backward group and still they want to be control!!!

You people should be making sense when you are talking.

You are using the instance of marriage, so let me ask you. What happens in a marriage where the woman has had so many children that her womb has ruptured, and has worked her hands to the bone such that she has no hands left. You will still tell her to leave because her marriage is not working? No way! She’d better stay back there and reap the fruits of her labor: leaving is tantamount to obtaining a Pyrrhic victory.

The Igbo have made the greatest investment – in sweat (labor and businesses), tears and blood (in war) – into the Nigeria project. And they want to leave all of that because of Biafra. Does that even make sense? Y’all better stick your asses in here, cause it’s sheer stupidity to leave. Its when you have chopped “belle-ful” from your investments in Nigeria, that’s when you can start the discussion to leave. Not anytime earlier than that.

Besides, the good thing about this quit notice is that more people will come home and invest. Thus preparing ground for what will eventually be ..
