On the 24th of June, a television news crew KOBTV was robbed of its station’s SUV while reporting the rate of crime in Albuquerque downtown.

Although the vehicle was found within half an hour, the director of KOBTV, Michelle Donaldson revealed it was found through tracking of the GPS device on the car. The car was later found was without the driver and the keys.

The newsmen were shooting a story about tech startup Lavu, which is contemplating a move because of an increase in crime

According to Donaldson, “It’s ironic that KOB became victims of a crime in exactly the area they were reporting about. But then, it should also give the reporter a better understanding when working on such story.”
