Nkechi Alade: 3 Helpful Tips For Getting Through Your Blue Days

Published

Let’s admit it, there are days you feel like the problem of the whole world lies on your shoulders and all is not well in your “entrepreneurial world”  – days when you just feel off and begin to wonder if you were in your right senses when you dropped your 9-5 for the business.
It may be your supplier giving you stories, your employee’s sudden departure, or a production turned sour, we all have our “Blue Days.” When situations like these occur,  and you are feeling down and out, the following tips could help you get through.

Get your popping playlist on
There’s something special and therapeutic about music! It has this way of seeping deep into our souls and making us realize that whatever it is we are going through will pass.
You can start early and prepare your “Blue Day” playlist; include every song that makes you pop and happy.
So, when you are going through a bad day, plug in your ear phones, or speakers and let the sweet sounds drown your worries and fears. In no time, you will get your confidence back! When I feel this way, my go to songs are: Fight song by Racheal Platton, Just believe by Ashant (to name a few).
They always get me back up.

Surround yourself with motivational quotes
My favorite quote is “Do it afraid”and I cannot deny the fact that it has helped me so many times when I feel at my lowest lows. Believe it or not, these quotes go a long way to motivate you. How? Having them all around your homes and offices (thank God for sticky notes).
Nothing beats seeing “You can do it, go get them, you are beautiful etc…” on your fridge, mirror, desk and everywhere else. It gives you a sense of purpose and boosts your mood.
What are you waiting for? Grab a pen/pencil and some notes, pen out words of encouragement for yourself and put them everywhere around you.

Phone or visit a friend
Not just any friend by the way; call that crazy friend who makes you laugh till you have tears rolling down your cheeks –  that friend with whom you have done a lot of stupid things that you can never share with anyone else.
Asides making you laugh, this friend would know the exact thing you need to hear to make you feel better and also dish out the best form of advice to you. And if you are doing something wrong, who else can tell you but a good friend?

Write Write Write!
When you feel that you cannot talk to even your best friend, then I will advise you to write it down. Writing down what we feel, gives us a sense of freedom as we are able to release all emotions bottled up inside of us, some of which we never even knew about. It doesn’t matter how or what you write, just get a journal for your off days.
With a journal you are honest with yourself and there are no holds barred, so you are able to the bottom of what you are really feeling and work it out.

I would love to hear from you, how do you cope with your blue days? What do you do to get you back in the mood?
