A Twitter account with the handle @PDP_2019 on Friday claimed that 7 different bank accounts belonging to the Adeleke family has been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The account had claimed that both Davido (real name David Adeleke) and his uncle Ademola Adeleke were among those who had their accounts frozen.

While the news has been unconfirmed, the singer has reacted, after fans brought it to his attention on Twitter.

“God dey!! OBO DEY !” he wrote after one fan assured him of his unending support.

“Make dem go Wells Fargo for ATL na ??,” he again wrote after another fan mentioned that his account was among those frozen.

Dele Momodu, who is a friend of the family, also commented on the issue, writing on his Twitter:

I refuse to believe that anyone, in the name of politics, would freeze the bank accounts of a hardworking family THE ADELEKEs including that of this young icon DAVIDO who has done our country very proud… God save our dear beloved nation… I pray it is fake news…

He also later claimed that the news was indeed true, writing that his source was “unimpeachable.”

The news has, however, remained unconfirmed by any news agency or journalist.

There is nothing wrong with freezing their accounts. Once they are vindicated, justice will serve it’s course. What’s the big deal? Should they now be above the law?

Really? Why should or why are their accounts frozen in the first place? What vindication?

What is ICONIC about Davido ??? He has done our country proud???
Is it through his music that promotes everything God hates??? Or is it his unsavory lifestyle that the blind youths are trying to copy?
Its really the end times ..people cheering on and promoting the very things that are causing their destruction.
You see money and you bow.
    I WEEP.

@HOW, spoken like someone who has nothing in his account to be frozen…LOL!

Under our Constitution (in a provision in which we try to ape most civilized jurisdictions), persons are presumed INNOCENT until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Freezing someone’s account (and thus denying him/her use thereof to cater for his familial or other needs) is in substance a form of penalty, and thus at the very minimal requires an order of the courts. We don’t appear to have all of the details of this case, but it does not appear the EFCC has bothered with the requirements of law. Rather, it appears that it is proceeding along the lines of PMB’s recently-verbalized (and I paraphrase) “the Rule of Law is a Luxury” doctrine.

The timing of the freeze is rather interesting, coming soon after the Dancing Senator (not to be confusing with the Actor/Rapper Senator Dino Melaye) secured the opposition party’s candidacy for Governor. Sadly, we continue to see the signs of a Creeping Dictatorship! SMH

@Dayo correct. They are afraid of the Adelekes in Osun state. The Senator can win easily because they are tired of APC and don’t like Ogbeni’s anointed one.
