The International School, Ibadan (ISI) had been shut down indefinitely following a protest by students of the school asking to be allowed to wear their hijab.

The school had previously shut its doors for a day after students showed up to school in hijabs. The school management had released a statement asking that the status quo be maintained and hijabs be disallowed.

Sahara Reporters shared that school activities had resumed on Monday, until a student wearing a hijab was locked out.

Students and parents quickly gathered at the school’s main gate to protest, asking that the Muslim students be allowed to wear their hijabs.

The school management has sent students home and locked the school gates.
