Creativity provides several employment possibilities. Nigeria has the largest economy in Sub-Saharan Africa with the fastest growing tech, film and fashion sectors and is a strong exporter of culture. The Nigerian creative industry has seen a period of rapid growth spurred by emerging digital technology which supports content creation, distribution and consumption. Considering the teeming population of Nigeria, there is an untapped pool of talents that have not been utilized owing to a lack of exposure to the right resources and training that will, on one hand, provide a platform that would showcase these talents and on the other, one that will hone and improve this talent.

The N-Creative training is a programme under the umbrella of the N-Power initiative, which aims to reduce unemployment in the country, by facilitating the transferability of employability; entrepreneurial and technical skill; as well as support the public service and government’s diversification policies.

The Federal Government created a programme that will train and develop a community of creative people who indicated an interest in Animation (2D and 3D), Graphic Design, Post-production, Voice Acting and Script Writing.  The training will nurture and teach Nigerians with immense talent and innovative ideas and attempt to shine a light on an often overlooked sector of the country – the creative/entertainment industry. The month-long intensive training programme provides opportunities for product development, collaborations and networking among many other things. Edo state will play host to facilitators from the breadth and width of the country’s creative industry ranging from technical aspects such as graphic illustration to script writing. Trainees, who have been selected earlier from a pool of registered candidates, will gain access to world-class training for free. The entirety of the programme will span three months; one month of intensive classroom training and two months where participants will collaborate on group projects.

The participants will be provided intense exposure and an opportunity to work on projects utilizing the knowledge gained from the various courses offered at the training programme. The goal is to improve the output quality of the Nigerian creative industry and equip creatives to be providers of content and services that are globally competitive.

With N-Power Creative, just like the other sub-programmes of N-Power, the Federal Government will efficiently convey information and transmit skills to the next generation of gifted innovators, encourage self-sufficiency and ultimately, the growth of the Nigerian creative industry.
