Top Nigerian comedian, Julius Agwu and his sweetheart Ibiere Belema MacClayton
Their Story
Julius and IB have been dating for quite a while but according to him, her Dad insisted that she completes her undergrad, NYSC and masters before the marriage. Now that she has graduated from her masters in Oil and Gas Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Scotland, the couple decided it was the right time.
The Ceremony
Julius and Ibiere are both proud indigenes of Rivers State. Therefore, the wedding was a perfect opportunity for them to celebrate their rich culture. The traditional ceremony at Abonnema on Thursday 29th of May 2008 was ripe with colour and pageantry from the traditional dancers to the native outfits. The traditional ceremony was capped off with a musical performance from Ibitoru of Idols West Africa Fame.

On Saturday 31st of May 2008, St Paul’s Cathedral Church in Port Harcourt was decorated in green and white as Ibiene and Julius took the journey down the aisle. There were tears of joy and lots of smiles as the couple were joined before God as husband and wife.
The wedding party then proceeded to the Civic Centre for the wedding reception. The venue was awash with the couples colours – green, orange, white and gold. As they danced into the venue with their groomsmen and bridesmaids, the excitement and joy from the guests was palpable. Given the groom’s profession and reputation, its no surprise that his colleagues from the Nigerian Showbiz industry including Ali Baba, Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, KC Presh, Francis Duru , Segun Arinze, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, DJ Jimmy Jatt and Ejike Asiegbu all came to celebrate this momentous occasion with him.
