Gene OprahNigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show in an episode ‘Meet the Most Famous People in the World‘. A montage of photos and a video clip (from the movie ‘Bursting Out’) featuring Genevieve was shown as her various career highlights were mentioned. Gene who was referred to as the “Julia Roberts of Africa” on the show was chosen due to her wide appeal across the African continent and all over the world. Other stars from around the world including Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan (India) and Lu Yu (China) were also featured on the show.
Congrats to Genevieve!
Bella Naija is also excited that we assisted the Oprah Winfrey Show in working on this piece.
It is great to see Nigeria and Africa being presented in a positive light. Just seeing one positive story about Nigeria/Nigerians actually plays a significant role in changing the perceptions that many hold.
One step at a time….

    • Tell it Like it is September 29, 2009 at 3:07 AM

In nollywood some try so damn hard (force force yeye ones) and still cant seem to get IT, pioneers and great talent like Genny, she doesnt even have to try hard to be recognized. She is just blessed – Many are called few are chosen and Genevieve Nnaji is one of the very blessed and undeniable chosen stars of Africa. I am so happy and so proud of this utterly beautiful GLOBAL recognition. Thank you God.

Now what we have to do is to continue to pray those envies away in Jesus name

    • Anyvic September 29, 2009 at 4:06 AM

The first movie I saw Gennyin was ‘Keeping Faith’ by Ego Boyo and my first impressionwas “she’s got ‘IT’ whatever ‘IT’ is”. I am so proud of her as a person and as an artiste. We truly are a blessed and beautiful nation! Congrats, Ms Nnaji. Keep doing ur thing!
