Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh has reportedly been released after a ₦1,400,000 ransom was paid to his kidnappers. Owoh who is popularly known as ‘Osuofia’ was kidnapped as he travelled along Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway.
Mr. Owoh who is widely reported to be one of the highest paid Nollywood actors spend almost a week in the custody of the kidnappers. His abductors originally requested for a ₦15 million payment to secure his release. However, after a few days, they allegedly reduced the ransom demand to ₦2 million before ‘compromising’ to the final ₦1.4 million which was paid.
According to Sunday Punch newspaper, the kidnappers are still holding on to Owoh’s car and requesting an additional ₦100,000 before the car is released.
Wow! Though, we are glad that Mr. Owoh has been released in good health and physical condition. This is just so embarrassing and unfortunate.

Im glad that he was released, but when does the system put an end to such things, ok a lot of our African countries have thier own problems regarding crime, but the systems kind put in place really make a difference. We cant do away with crime on a single day but I believe whatever measures taken they should at least be some percentage which indicates effective above avarage. What good is the death penalty going to do if its put in place, in my opinion criminals will make sure there are no witnesses to stand in court. Do not kill but think of better ways to rehabilitate people on the wrong. Instill skills and knowledge in people both criminals and the ordinary guy/girl in the street and create more jobs for the poor. Hunger causes Havoc. Any living creature would do anything to survive when hunger or starvation strikes but that gives no one any right to violate any other persons right. Im deeply sorrowed by all the cruelty that people do on others regardless of race, tribe, nationality, gender, age or sexuality.

@GOGOG.. abeg, is it Nkem’ own fault that the youth is jobless? Is he not trying to make money for himself in a decent way that does not harm other people? Is he the government abi? these ur comments o… God punish all those who had a hand in his kidnapping under the pretense of joblessness. So does that give anyone the right to kidnap, thief and steal from those trying to earn an honest living, why not kidnap the people responsible..yes the government officials. ah ah!!

What is the work of nigerian law enforcement?well that can only happen in a lawless land like nigeria, those guys are not spirit, they are people we see everyday on the street, emergine after collecting 1.4mil. from Nkem, they still held his car for extra money not even afraid of police or afraid of God,men l am totally disapointed on Nigerian government, like me who has been in south africa for 4years l ve never seen such omen.l believe that we that live overs will be equiped when think of coming back to our mother land, please lam begging the government to do something about this, well if it needs intelligence,l believe that we are equal to the task
