Sneak Peek: Afromania by Nkwo – The “Far From Home” Collection

UK-based Nigerian designer Nkwo Onwuka made giant strides in the last few months; her flagship line “Nkwo” showed at the ARISE Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg last year, Nkwo pieces were picked up by Europe’s No 1 online fashion shopping destination – ASOS and now in 2010, Nkwo is set to launch its new diffusion line: Afromania by Nkwo.
The line features pieces that represent all you know and love about Nkwo. However, the diffusion range is “more affordable and accessible”. The first collection from Afromania by Nkwo named “ Far From Home” is a cultural melting pot of African, Asian and European influences and themes.
Its great to see more designers working towards providing consumers with better priced products. Given the state of the economy, its fair to say that any designer that does not recognize the need for cheaper, good quality fashion has missed the beat.

The styling is what’s haute couture about the looks, not the dresses in themselves… So to answer the question and dispel your misinformation, these clothes are highly wearable. Well done Nkwo! =)
