BN Exclusive – WORLD PREMIERE: Asa – Be My Man

Warning: Bellanaija.com will not be responsible for the effusiveness of this writer.

Thanks

It’s been two years (plus) since Asa literally burst out on the scene with her self titled debut album. She smashed the ceiling on what was considered popular music. We rocked to Jailer, swayed to 36o and bobbed our heads to Subway.

A 2 year hiatus would literally obliterate the career of any regular artiste on the Nigerian scene. But the reverse has been the case for Bukola Elemide. The anticipation has been for new material from has been high to say the least.

Be My Man presents a different and softer side to the talented songstress. It sees her getting a little playful and looking a bit inward with this love song/proposal.

Enough with the talk! Press Play already. Check on it.

DONT LIKE IT!!!! IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY ANY WHITE TAMBORINE SHAKING CHICK!! ASA IS AFRICA…..WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!? NOOOO OOOO!! IF THIS IS A CROSS OVER EXPERIMENT PLEASE STOP IT!!

    • aramide September 28, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Why not wait to hear the rest on the Album! what exactly is Africa? did you even see the tracklist that was posted earlier? internet made you a judge…

    • Benny September 28, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Naive…Have you heard her last album? Or you think because she spoke yoruba on some songs that now she should be in a box of Africa? Have you heard any of her interviews about her musical inspirations and direction? Asa does not sing for Africa, she sings for herself, it can be about fire on the mountain one day or be my man another day….You have the right to dislike the song, no biggie there, but don’t go trying to confine her reach..thank you.

  • NYAZIVEA September 28, 2010 at 7:52 pm

  • Marcus Aurelius September 28, 2010 at 8:06 pm

As a fellow artiste who doubles as an On Air personality I gotta say this is my new hit song of the month. When I hum the song in my head I substitute the Man for Woman in my version though. Asa rocks!!!

  • Marcus Aurelius September 28, 2010 at 8:07 pm

PS: I know it doesn’t sound like the regular Asa I have grown to love over the years but its still her and I am biased anyways.

Yay, I’ve been waiting to hear this. She has gone through some transformation. Sounds very foreign. Reminiscent of Inna Modja, a soul singer from Mali or so…
