BN Online Exclusive: Genevieve Magazine presents the “Ultimate Fashion Swap” – Lisa Folawiyo in LDA & Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi in JBL

Two of Nigeria’s brightest design talents; They are both on top of their game right now. Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi‘s eponymous label LDA is one of the most sought after labels in the country with a devoted client base and consistent  stream of sold-out collections. Lisa Folawiyo‘s label Jewel By Lisa continues to gather major international momentum. With international celebrities including Kelis rocking their pieces.
The world of fashion is filled with high drama, competitiveness and in some cases, big egos. What happens when you ask two major designers to wear each other’s clothes for the cover shoot of a magazine? Well, we’ve just found out the answer.

For the October 2010 issue of Genevieve Magazine; Lanre is in JBL and Lisa is in LDA. The two ladies look stunning on the cover of the magazine as Lisa rocked a piece from LDA’s Summer 2010 collection while Lanre wore a signature embellished ankara JBL dress paired with a statement bib necklace from the label.

Inside the magazine, the two engage in a “faux battle”, once again dressed in pieces from each other’s labels. Then they moved on to their comfort zones and were photographed in pieces from their own lines.

According to our insiders at the shoot – As Lisa and Lanre swapped designs, you could see the excitement on their faces, even as they complimented each other’s designs. “Awwhhh…this is really beautiful,” Lisa exhaled, as she admired one of Lanre’s designs; a flowery lace dress mixed with purple satin. Lanre, on the other hand couldn’t hide her love and admiration for Lisa’s designs, especially the green and black lace dress embellished with stones and lined underneath with Ankara. They chatted, giggled like they were children playing grown up! You could also feel the genuine excitement as they emerged, this time in each other’s dresses, laughing with admiration for each other’s fabulous pieces.

We totally love the concept and the execution.
