Toni Tones Photography kicks off 5 Week “Support Nigerian Fashion” Photography Experience with Toju Foyeh

Inspired by the BuyNigerian campaign which was initiated by StyleHouseFiles; Nigerian fashion photographer, Toni Tones has made it her mission to encourage even more Nigerians to patronize Nigerian fashion brands.
According to Toni Tones, “We are introducing this campaign – Support Nigerian Fashion (SNF) with a brand new perspective. We  put a different spin on it – Yes, we all know models can look fabulous in anything, that’s their job. For this 5 week campaign and will be using an everyday woman to display our Nigerian designers’ lavish creations.

Over the next 5 weeks, we will be taking you through a photographic journey. Starting this week, we will publish images from each of the campaign shoots. Each shoot features pieces from a talented young Nigerian designer, modelled by the muse of the campaign, Toni Tones. Toni Tones Photography flipped the script on their creative director, putting her in front of the camera as the model/muse instead of her established position behind it.

The featured designer this week is Toju Foyeh, whose pieces having been making their rounds and catching everyone’s attention. The designer was one of the BN’s 11 Young, Fabulous & Talented Designers to Watch in 2011. The dramatic piece Toni is wearing is the “Dee Dress” Toju Foyeh’s forthcoming “Rebirth Collection”.

Here is the final word from the Toni Tones photography team, “Join us in conserving and promoting our cultural heritage, lets support Nigerian fashion product development, lets create awareness, lets show our patriotism and national pride, lets all be brand ambassadors for our great country Nigeria, lets boost our economy by giving back, support your own, Support Nigerian Fashion“.

This is a personal publicity stunt. Getting in front of the camera to promote Nigerian cultural heritage my foot.I’m thinking, is Toni Tones related to Bella Naija?

um…was just wondering abt d top bit of outfit, is it a fan or ermm..a baby pack carrier or is it just haute couture that u never ever really wear anywhere except u r lady gaga. I’ve seen a few of Toju Foyeh’s pieces and I liked them ..but when designers dabble into unwearables like on some runways I just don’t get d concept & I can c Nigerian designers are trying to get into that too..even if it really doesnt seem to make sense?? huh?

  • barawo January 24, 2011 at 9:29 pm

  • kelechi January 25, 2011 at 10:28 am

i admire what you are trying to do but as usual you have taken the easy way out.the designers you featured are already getting the publicity they deserve.if you sincerely believe in this buy Naija thing, then feature unknown designers.Do your homework well.or i might have to agree with tiwa’s comment that its just a personality stunt. There are lots of fantastic designers just waiting to be discovered by you.they will even be ready to pay you for the shots

    • Shally January 25, 2011 at 5:52 pm

Good idea, like the whole concept, give unknown designers a chance too…. Beautiful pics.

  • tits January 25, 2011 at 10:53 am

u obviously no nothng abt d fashion industry and fashion as a whole….wot doesn’t mke sense? Is it d fact that toju made a dress dat is actually gorge or d fact dat she’s showin her creative and edgy side or d fact that she’s made a dress dat cuts across other fashion industries outside nig? I’m still try to see wot doesn’t mke sense! What!! d fact that she wants to b a big time designer eventually and is showin she has d skills? Lemme tell u wot doesn’t mke sense! It doesn’t mke sense wen u thnk u knw a lot abt fashion and u give ur opinion which every1 is entitled to btw- and ur opinion doesnt show reasoning or understandin of wot ur giving ur opinion on! Now that dnt mke sense

    • Gorgeous January 25, 2011 at 4:23 pm

      rant much?

    • Fatima January 25, 2011 at 11:04 pm

How about you stop contradicting yourself. You just said everyone is entitled to their own opinion, then in the same sentence say she does not make sense. I admire Toju Foyeh for trying to be extra creative but the execution of this look is completely off. Not every designer can do that avante garde look without it looking like unfinished work. The girls strength is obviously simpler pieces. Which she executes better than her peers in the Nigerian fashion industry.

    • Molly January 29, 2011 at 10:53 pm

U obviously know A LOT abt d fashion industry right m’dear?…I am still laughing out loud at d rant much comment!!

  • The sentinel January 25, 2011 at 12:59 pm

Bella, you didn’t tell us how designers can join the campaign. Details please or contact at least.

  • Lhara January 25, 2011 at 5:58 pm

@ Molly, Designers have to show their versatility, its not all about just producing everyday outfits. there is no contact for Toju Foyeh, can we have a contact for her please. Please do better with putting up contact details for features or whats the point of getting featuring if not to get us interested and then we cant reach them.

  • Grace January 25, 2011 at 7:11 pm

i love that the model is not skinny

  • friendly January 25, 2011 at 10:01 pm

HAHAHA publicity stunt indeed .. lol wtf !? … muse? how bout you just take the damn picture of the designer modeling their own clothes. what THE HELL!!

    • Moving on January 26, 2011 at 11:11 am

Now thats not very friendly is it? And please where is the stunt, I’m missing it. Shes putting herself forward as an everyday woman are you trying to say shes not? How does the designer modelling her own clothes make sense to you :-$

  • Moving on January 26, 2011 at 11:07 am

Loving the photos and the concept. The dress looks Gorgeous, Toju definitely has a gift. Don’t know why everyone has a problem with Toni Tones modelling the clothes. Read the article they are using everyday women and she put herself forward. Don’t hate just appreciate, honestly u’ll feel better :-)

  • Molly January 29, 2011 at 9:56 pm

Thank you very much Fatima. For those who feel the need to explain to me what haute couture i.e. ‘high fashion’ means & those getting their knickers in a twist, the subtle point I was trying to make is there’s really nothing nice or fresh about this piece. Some foreign designers do this i.e. creating very bad pieces when they have lost their mojo & try to pass it off as haute, well its not. And ofcourse there will be those amongst who always want to do what everyone else is doing, even when they don’t understand why others do it! Toju has done well with simple pieces, that she can pull off…..
