Finding Justice for Ugo: Inspector General of Police Deploys ‘High-Tech Team’ to Take Over Investigations

Investigation into the sad and cruel murder of Ugo Ozuah in Lagos just five days after his wedding has taken another dimension, hopefully for the better.

Family and friends of Ugo say he was allegedly murdered by the Police along Gbagada Expressway. He was shot in his chest when he was escorting a friend who had come to greet him just a day after he returned from his honeymoon.

The Police has however denied the allegation claiming the victim was shot by armed robbers who were passing along the expressway.

There was a recent development yesterday when the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar instructed a high-powered investigation team from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, to take-over the investigation.

The murder case was previously being investigated by the Lagos State Police Command.

Channels TV reports that in a Press Statement by the IGP, he gave the assurance that “The Force will do everything humanly and operationally possible to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime are unmasked and eventually brought to book.”

He also dispelled rumours making rounds on social media that he had earlier made a definite statement concerning the incident.

“As a matter of fact, this is the first and the only statement so far made by either the IGP or the Force Headquarters on the subject matter. As the Chief Investigator of the nation, it is not in the character of the IGP to jump into hasty conclusions before initiating investigations.” The statement read.

The IG also promised that special phone lines for purposes of interaction with members of the public will soon be released and urged members of the public who may have witnessed the crime, to come forward with useful information that could aid the Police in tracking the criminals.

It is hoped that this development would bring a favourable progress into the investigation. His death was very painful and the investigation must not be swept under the carpet.

I pray his family and friends find peace and the strength to carry on with life, would admonish them to live their lives in ways that would honor his memory; as for justice from the nigerian police ( I highly doubt they’ll get that, that’s why I pray God comforts them). It is a truly sad and tragic tale which undoubtedly would be trumped by another senseless killing. To ugo’s wife: my prayers are with you, may God carry you through this painful period.

everyone is just jumping on the band wagon saying they should find the killers…….God is now punishing the country for what the leaders are doing…..they kill individuals as if they don’t matter….I know Ugo well, we use to eat eba and drink garri together…he was a promising young man….full of love and adoration….he was brilliant and handsome….studies very hard while we were in school…he motivated me in a lot of ways….this is a young promising fella they have killed for no just reason…The government knows who was on patrol that night in that area….they can easily get them, check the serial number of the bullet and check for gun powder on all the gums out with the patrol that night……but can they do that, the answer is NO because all the money they were meant to use development and to revamp the police had be stolen by the leaders………My advice is, if you have an opportunity to get of the country while you are still alive, please do so…….because we need protection from the people employed to us……What would the IG do…..sick of the nation mehn…….

May my friends soul Rest in Perfect Peace….Amen

PAINFUL STORY… He just got married….

i cant even express myself other than when will Nigeria change for the better?

I almost feel ashamed praying sef cos a) it feels like we are not utilising our common sense enough.b)I dont want to brush things under the carpet and feel good cos have a said a prayer. c)I bet God has answered all our prayers…. but why??? do we lack common sense and thought process…

I pray God will continue to empower the family of the bereaved and see them through… I dont wish the situation on anybody.
