Nigerian design label, Alali Boutique is out with its Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Lipstick + Free Speech.
We were properly introduced to the fashion brand at the 2011 Lagos Fashion & Design Week and ever since then, we have been presented with creative and futuristic collections from the label.
With Lipstick + Free Speech, the brand aims to accentuate the silhouette of the 21st century woman.
Here’s the official release of the inspiration behind the collection;
“For I conclude that the enemy is not lipstick, but guilt itself, that we deserve lipstick, if we want it, and free speech, if we deserve to be sexual and serious……. or whatever we please, we are entitled to wear cowboy boots to our own revolution”. – Naomi Wolf
This collection channels the 21st century feminist who is not apologetic about being a woman. She is not restricted by conventional feminine notions of dressing. She dresses to show that she is competitive, adventurous and sexy. She isn’t fighting for equal rights but is competing to come out on top.
The Alali Boutique collection for Spring/Summer 2013 combines athletic elements such as the raglan and dolman sleeves, triangular silhouettes and the racerback with feminine, elegant features such as the hourglass impression, draping and sheerness.
The nonchalant juxtaposition of neon prints reference the 90s and characterize the adventurous nature of this woman, while the monochrome, nude and neon represent her versatility.

Wow! I don’t know which outfits to choose!!! They are all so well put together and designed- colour, style, everything. Well done alali!
Is this a joke?
LOL! Yes its a joke. It MUST be a joke.
Oghogho and Dami…i see u!!!!mwah.d dress in the 10th pic is my personalfave tho!
Would have been really nice, but too many bad choices; bad photography, bad styling, bad background and should I say bad models? Maybe bad modeling, they have absolutely no swag!
i like! the dresses. The models, not so sure. They could have put a little more energy in their poses to add a little va va voom! but the dresses look stunning! i would wear most of them, if I had the figure – LOL- . And they look just right for the festive season – parties, dinners, launches and barbecues with friends etc…
HORRIBLE GOSSHH

Pink dress (short & long) too big on d model.
designers need to start paying professional models and photographers.
