Elite Model Look Nigeria 2010 Winner - Chika Emmanuel

Every girl dreams of strutting her stuff on the catwalk and being admired by millions of other girls around the world but not everyone is fit to be a model or gets the opportunity to catwalk on any stage much less the Elite Model Look Nigeria 2010 Competition.

As the 12 finalists of the Elite Model Look Nigeria 2010 competition took to the stage, all eyes were glued to the young girls who made it to the final round. With their hearts beating and blood pumping the girls started their cat walk unto the runway in swimwear by Melissa Odabash. Each contestant wore a unique bikini showing off her chiseled stomach and elongated limbs created specifically for the modeling world.

The event which was hosted by the beautiful and exuberant Georgina Eku Edewor-Thorley, a former candidate of the hit series “Britain’s Next Top Model” shared in the excitement of the show stating that being a former contestant in a modeling show herself, she understood the pressures the girls were feeling and encouraged all contestants to give it their best in hopes of being crowned Number One. It was very easy to spot the crowd favorite even at the beginning of the show when the girls had barely entered the room. As with the last competition, the crowd favorite would also serve as the judges’ favorite.

In the next category of the competition, the girls modeled gorgeous dresses by Nkwo Onwuka, whose designs complemented the slender figures of each model. The Nkwo designs were not only chic but beautiful and her designs were definitely made for the runway as it left every girl in the room breathless and wanting more.

In the next phase of the competition, the first half of the models wore designs by Vonne, whose edgy jackets should find a place in every Fashionista’s closet. The Jackets ranged from Edgy and Funky to Elegant and Sophisticated. It also gave the girls an opportunity to show off their personalities on the runway.

The other half of the models wore designs by MYA. Her dresses were sultry and flirty, giving the allure of a sexy night gown turned chic cocktail dress. At this point, the top six models were called to the front of the stage, leaving the bottom six in tears. I did feel for the girls, as they really gave it their best. They finally walked off stage as though their dreams had been completely shattered.

The top six girls as chosen by the judges including Omoyemi Akerele, Lola Maja, Kelechi Amadi-Obi and Fauzi Fahm were called to the front of the stage. The top 6 were Chika Emmanuel, Abiola Adeyemi, Ebeledike Nwando, Delphine Okobah, Marvis Offor and Onyechi Anita.

At the final showing of the evening, the top six girls modeled gowns by Jewel by Lisa. The collection was the highlight of the evening as it transformed the girls from budding models to “Catwalk Queens” in their glamorous pieces. Georgina Eku Edewor said it best when she stated that “The girls sparkle but when you’ve been Jeweled by Lisa you definitely dazzle

The Top 6 rock the runway in JBL

At the end of the night when the host called out the top three contestants – Chika Emmanuel, Marvis Offor (She was also a finalist in the 2010 Face of Africa Competition) and Nwando Ebeledike, you could feel the intensity in the room as the audience waited for the No.1 contestant to be announced and surely it was no surprise that the winner of this year’s Elite Model Look Nigeria 2010 competition is Emmanuel Chika. At the sound of her name, there was a standing ovation and cheers from the crowd as the 15 year old made her way to the front of the stage.

The magical moment...Chika Emmanuel is the winner!

It was her moment to shine and through her tears you could see her mouth and wave thank you to the judges and audience members who had been cheering for her since the beginning of the competition. In addition to her strong runway walk, unique look and good bone structure, this 5’7 model was definitely deserving of the title because she was definitely built for the runway. We wish you the best of luck and hope to see you on the international runways and magazine covers.

15? wow! its good to start early o, like Kimora (i think she was 13) , so by the time you are 25, you’re a veteran. congrats girl!
however, i hope she has a good support system and a positive mentor, so she learns how to positively deal with the pressures of the modelling world (some chicks turn to drugs), cos it can be tough!

congrats once again! wish u all the best!

lool too young??? u start modeling when you are you are young not old, thats how modeling works. 🙂 Naomi started when she was 14 and alot of famous models 2. The age for modeling is between 13-18yrs. Thats the perfect age. Models dont start when they are older. Guys do your research. 15 is perfect and i see her going places. Good luck girl

she does have the best look from the top 6 finalists, so she deserves the crown.

the swimsuit picture the first one, the girl on the far right (wearing orange/peach) has a banging body!

    September 18, 2010 at 3:38 pm

and she is young but looks 21! she is hot though, and hope she goes far in the modelling world.

i know rite!!! speaking of which, that seems to be the new trend!!

  38. Toyin

    September 20, 2010 at 6:14 pm

She looks gorgeous but i have serious issue with her being 15yrs old! Na wah o for people. “Naomi Campbell started when she was 13 (abi is it 15)” – and nobody can stand her cos she is a b*tch. But who can blame her, she learnt early that the whole world is more interested in her body and the illusions she creates by strutting it, than in the real her. I don’t know what parents are thinking of letting their 15 yr olds jet around the world with their clothes half-off. There’s more to life than money and fame……Miley Cyrus, Lindsey Lohan, Michael Jackson etc should have taught us that. They are obviously famous cos even ppl like me have heard of them…… but at what cost?

Anyway, i wish her the best and i hope the person she is deep inside is not derailed this unnecessary exposure to the ugliness that is behind the scenes of the world of modelling.

Wow!! She definitely looks fierce!! 15 isn’t too young, I just hope she stays true to herself. Yep, she’s definitely still growing – probably for the next 2-4 years.

  41. Grace

    September 28, 2010 at 12:43 am

I agree with her being too young. Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and the rest that started at young ages became successful but now we hear of their drug problems, anger issues e.t.c. I think this is as a result of being exposed to some things at very young ages.

  42. Davido

    October 8, 2010 at 1:38 pm

@Omada,Toyin, Grace, you all have a good point! Chika has a lot of potentials and will definitely go far. I pray God keeps her from the dangers young girls are exposed to in the glitzy industry!
