BN Bytes: D’Banj In A Deal With Mercury Records, An Island Def Jam Record Label Imprint

Mercury Records is a record label operating as a standalone company in the UK and as part of the The Island Def Jam Music Group in the US; both are subsidiaries of Universal Music Group.

Also, G.O.O.D. Music’s parent company is Island Def Jam and for distribution, they use Def Jam (Within the US) and Mercury Records (Outside The US).

Can you spot D’Banj lodged in between Elton John and Big Boi, adjacent to Bon Jovi, Dot Rotten and Fabulous? (Picture above) This merely just shows the extent to which this international record deal can boost D’Banj‘s career.

Also, all of last week, D’Banj‘s “Oliver Twist” was Scott Mills“Big Thing” on Radio 1. Scott Mills covered for Chris Moyles on his slot that week, so the track was played every morning on the Breakfast Show that week. Big things are really happening and I’m glad our Nigerian musicians are somewhere at the middle of it.

d’banj is doing his thing….big up to him. Why is it that when a young man is successful it becomes a case of selling his soul? did we not all watch d’banj become what he is today? less hating more appreciating pple

    • Hmmmm

This is not a matter of hating. Those of us who work behind the scene in the american music industry know what’s up. D’Banj has been successful in Nigeria and that is good because in Nigeria, you don’t have to join illumanati for them to sell or distribute your records. In america however, its a whole nother ball game. Have you asked yourself how many EXTREMELY successful american music artists live into their old age and retire without struggling with depression, drug addiction, insomnia and the likes? You think it is a coincidence that extremely successful american music artists are just dying mysteriously before they even hit age 60? Please educate yourself and understand that it is almost impossible to make international stardom in the United States without selling your soul. Take it or leave it.

i totally agree coz i have been studying the american music industry for 2 years now out of curiosity. i had thought about exactly what you said. there is proof that Illuminati is real. the video is on you tube. i hope dbanj makes the right choices

Selling his soul? Keep hating o. He’ll keep rising and you will keep hating cos that’s all you’re good at. When pple work hard they desrve to enjoy the fruit of their labor.
So carry on hating n soon you’ll reap your own fruits.

not meaning to hate, but until i hear a record and see the international acceptance i wont be impressed. He is a good performer, the only question is how ill americans and other receive him, because he know nigerians always got his back since his one of ours, but no one should tell you that in most cases dbanj might not be that marketable abroad, but again I might be wrong, so lets wait and see.

When pple talk without facts it really irritates me. Don’t pple die in naija under the age of 4o? Did they sell their souls? Better admit you’re hating n go n look for ur own success. Drugs alcoholism come with lack of discipline n principles afterall it is also done by the elite in naija just incase ur information collection is selective n biased. If you don’t have anything positive n educating to say pls keep ur ignorance to urself. Illuminati ko light bulb ni. mscheew!! naija pple are just too fetish n supersticious for their own good. That’s why we’re 500 years behind the rest of the world!

Lionel Richie, extremely successful, no drugs n alcohol story, James Brown died old and successful, Ray Charles died old n successful, Cher in her 60s n successful…the list goes on! Shut up and stop making excuses for failure!

Career is a business choice about what you offer: your labour, your endowment. I suspect D’Banj understands this very much. His life is his to live, so also is his happiness and dreams to live.He will never be down this road again because age, season and unique opportunity only comes but once on each person’s journey. So let’s respect and support decisions he makes so we can have a template with which people can compare.

Jigga, you are right but all those people you mentioned are not half as rich and do not own empires like Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kanye etc! Yes, they are successful but not in illuminati style!! Lol
