As part of its youth engagement initiatives, First Bank of Nigeria Ltd inaugurated the FirstBank Youth Excel Series for students recently.
At the press briefing which preceded the events, Folake Ani-Mumuney, Head Marketing & Corporate Communication FirstBank said that the financial institution views its interventions in the area of youth empowerment as an integral part of its corporate responsibility projects. “At First Bank, our Ultimate goal is to remain a strong supporter of efforts geared towards equipping the youths with the skills and tools required for socioeconomic empowerment through our support of youth engagement initiatives, endowment schemes and infrastructure development. Our desire is to see our strategic and need- driven youth empowerment interventions culminate in equipping Nigeria youths for a bright future.”
The series which kicked off at the University of Lagos is in line with the Bank’s quest to increase its stake in the youth market sector. Both events commenced with comedy from Jedi, as well as a brief talent display from students. There were presentations from the FirstBank FirstMonie team, E-Business. Lots of students went away with gifts such as iPods, the customized Lagos Monopoly board game among other gifts.
Willie Jolley, one of America’s top speakers delivered his motivational speech that fired up students of both Universities. He crowned both speeches with an striking solo jazz performance.
There were lots to eat and drink for the students of the University of Lagos and Ibadan as well as souvenirs and gifts from First Bank Ltd. Dami Duro crooner Davido was on hand to perform at both Universities. He performed his hit tracks to the thrills of the students.
