The Avant-garde piece with an asymmetric cut and sheer detail, was accessorized with diamond stud earrings, a selection of gold and silver bracelets and cocktail rings, and a pair of black stilettos.

With her braids styled into an up do, she arrived at the event with red lipstick and smouldering eyes.

Gbemi is it really that serious???Are we going to a ball. Talk about an inappropriate outfit. She looks like a guest at the white house inaugural ball. Tiwa that dress is not flattering. So alek Wek was in lagos yet there was little buzz abt her. Meanwhile she is way richer and more talented than Angela Simmons who is famous for nothing. eyah am pitying Toke oh, she has mastered the “let me hide my knuckles pose”. Toke love just OWN it jor. We all know u bleached. You are drawing more attention to it by hiding ur very dark knuckles. Shey shhay am not feeling the boobage portion of that dress oh. And it is a bit much. I love what Steph Coker has on but am I d only one that thinks it screams maternity???Prolly a different color wudda been better

Baring the mid riff works well if you have hips and a small waist. So, when Ebube did it with disco pants it worked. Like others have said this doesn’t work for Yvonne because she has a boy’s/athletic body.

Only Jil Sander? More like JILL Sanda!

Toke looked good and oh dear Gbemi, your friend Kunbi deceived you this time. I bet you were sweating in those gloves.

Alek Wek makes me proud to be African. Cute much.

How do you have Alek Wek in the same event with Angela Simmons and you guys spend the whole time talking about some cheap reality star when a rich well-known model graced the same event??? What kind of PR is this? Is it a skin issue- the lighter chick always gets the cake? Very ridiculous! This can NEVER happen anywhere else in the world!

    • Cancel Reply

      December 23, 2013 at 11:00 pm

Angela was the host of the event, off course the spotlight
will be on her than Alek Wek who came as a guest. Light skin vs
dark skin makes no sense whatsoever in this instance. Please save
that argument for when it really matters! and calm the hell down
      while you are at it!

    • Ijeoma

      December 24, 2013 at 8:42 am

Yes; this must be the lousy publicist talking. Regardless, your attempt in this instance is a complete FAIL! Whether Simmons is hosting or not, if a more deserving star is at the event, you flash some light on her. you don’t ignore her; and then bring pictures out later. This is “PR for dummies”. So your guests will just see Alek Wek on the red-carpet…the shock of it. And everyone will ask: “but…how come nobody said she was coming”…

lol, my Lord, firstly Seyi Shay looks hideous in that white
number from Bubu ogisi -wrong fit, extremely wrong fit .I have seen
better work from Bubu. 2)On the Angela Simmon look, didn’t Eku
Edewor already rock that Bridget Awosika dress to some Elite model
search event styled by Bolaji Animashaun? we over it. 3)Tiwa
Savage, Toke Makinwa , Alek wek safe ,very safe and pretty.
4)Stephanie Coker lady very simple but giving me enormous life.
Love. 5)Emma Nyra, that dress actually works, its Grammy’s kinda
dress,i just think there’s too much, wavy hair, sparkly earrings?
my eyes are confused, they don’t know were to look. a lil toned
down(maybe hair in a bun). 6)Gbemi Olateru?????lwkmd, its not the
Mets Gala hun, its not your wedding either am sure. Call a stylist
asap. 7)Yvonne Nwosu! deep sigh, I understand the whole pushing the
envelope in fashion, i kinda like it to be honest, good body, fit
is right, length is right, the neck piece I don’t mind so much, I
just wish you did something different with your hair.

  41. Nnenna

    December 23, 2013 at 9:53 pm

For starters,Bridget Awosika is one of the best designers of all times.we don’t have anybody quite like her in Africa as far as true designing is concerned.most other designers are so tacky, stitches so jaggered its amazing, yet they call themselves designers, saw Tiffany Amberss clothes on a rack in Rinacente in Milan, and I laughed, and laughed again at the prices, the least was about €750,more expensive than the guccis and ferragamos.then I moved closer and the stitching was 2nd to primarks mass wonder I didn’t see any shopper standing anywhere near the Rack.dont even want to start on the likes of LDA.nice ideas, nice designs, but pls the stitches suck.and the price? Wow!.why are Nigerians quick to be called ” Designer” .instead of ” tailor”or “Seamstress” at least until they truly attain that designer status.maybe then, they can work harder and earn it.
Ehen…to the pictures above, semi shay is such a beauty, with a wow figure but she needs a good stylist…not just any stylist,a darn good one.i am yet to see her in any outfit that befits her…SAD!
Toke……your outfit was just okay! Nothing to wow about.we re so used to seeing you in gowns like that.i advice you give us something different.this was just borderline okay
Yvonne …..I liked your outfit..eclectic but like someone rightly said,it would have sat better on a curvy woman.but all in all good effort.
Emma Nyra… are such a cheerful soul.your smile always lights up even a heavy share same body shape as Yvonne, there dresses like these look better on you,fit and flare, skater dresses, etc.body tight outfits don’t always make you look looked very good in that.pls stick to outfits like that.
Then lastly,Gbemi…..I admire your guts.what you have on may have looked a tad bit over-dressed for the occasion ,but I suspect you knew that already, even before you stepped out,so that means you wanted to get tongues wagging( lol ) and you got exactly that.people need to get off your case,it happens in show biz.i applaud you.

    • Samir

      December 24, 2013 at 9:23 am

I agree with Tiffany Amber, LDA etc. being all hype but Bridget A as one of the best designers of all times, really? Her designs never look original, too western. Every time I see one I always get the feeling i’d seen it on fashion TV or in a magazine. For Nigerian standards, her tailoring is most likely better…I’d give her that.

Was it necessary for BN to write “Maje Who?” in introducing Toke? Sounds very lame and very irritating. Perhaps u guys were just looking to induce a barrage of comments with that! In other news, Gbemi looks like a 16yr old in the 90’s going for her prom. Seyi Shay’s gown doesn’t have a nice fit at the bust area. Stephanie
Coker’s outfit would look better on someone tall and very slim (my opinion).
    Tiwa looks splendid!
