African entrepreneurs keep pushing the envelope! In this edition of African Start-Up, we meet Ghanaian Fred Deegbe of ‘Heel The World’ as he tells CNN about his foray into the business of making luxury hand made shoes, right there in Accra.

Fred was a banker with little or no knowledge about making shoes, or even fashion. He took the plunge and is doing a great job as an employer of labour and an inspiration to thousands!

This is interesting to see. While I encourage entrepreneurship, I am a bit worried when entrepreneurs get so much attention very early in their business life cycle. All the same, best of luck to him.

While i totally agree with you Liya, i understand why there is much buzz about start ups in the continent. It is more with the intention to encourage Africans, to leave the comfort of their zones and venture into the unknown, which i call the faith zone.

This Guy is doing great .His shoes are so beautifully made.I think we Africans should learn how to encourage one another and not to just sit behind our computers to critize someone who has taking a bold step to step out of his comfort Zone.

Big UP to you Fred………Keep it up “Heel the World”.
